Hidden in the Knight Part 6
By: D Anne Paris
"I want Goliath ready by tomorrow morning." Garth Knight sternly told the head engineer, who was looking over the schedule. Garth had just left Candy at one of the computer's in the lab and decided to check on Goliath's progress.
"Goliath will be ready by then, sir." The head engineer told him as he wrote something down in the schedule. "We're putting the last coat of the shell on in about one hour so Goliath will be ready by tomorrow morning."
"Excellent." Garth said with pleasure, "You will be greatly rewarded for your hard work." Garth turned and gazed at the amazing machine that he built. Goliath was magnificent. No, he was more then that he was astounding and marvelous. Goliath would help Garth receive what he wanted the most- to see Michael Knight suffer. Garth grinned as he thought of the misery that he would put Michael through. Garth's revenge would finally be complete.
"Hello, my brother." A voice behind him rang out.
Garth turned and saw a short African man, wearing ceremonial robes and a huge grin on his face. Bodyguards, with guns and rifles in hand, hovered around the man to protect him from any harm.
"Elier," Garth said with false joy as he walked up and shook Elier's hand, " I thought you arrived tomorrow."
"Yes, I was." Elier replied with some delight at catching Garth off guard, "But my plans changed so I came to see the wonder machine that you are building, which I helped fund." He looked at Goliath and moved closer to him. Walking to the front he ran his hand over the black grill of Goliath, "Quite a powerful machine. You know…" he paused to see if he had Garth's attention and then continued, "I hope that you still intend to use it to get the Amtron,"
"Of coarse," Garth replied as he went up to Elier.
"Good, because I do not want your vengeance to get in the way of our plans."
Garth practically growled at Elier. "You don't need to worry about that. We will have the Amtron according to our plans."
"I hope so, because if not then I have other people who ate more than capable of driving."
"Are you threatening me?" Garth snapped at him.
Elier smiled, "No, my friend. I'm just reminding you that you can be replaced," Elier turned and left with his bodyguards right behind him.
Garth stood behind and was fuming with rage at Elier. Nobody threatened him. He would get even with Elier.
Hiding on the other side of Goliath, Candy heard the whole conversation. She wanted to ask Garth if she could go over Goliath's schematics but stopped when the African man entered and started to talk to Garth. She too felt anger towards the man as she heard his threat. Slowly, she walked up to Garth.
"Dad, what…"
"Not now," he said with annoyance as he turned and walked into the lab.
Candy felt furious. How dare that man threaten her father? Dashing through the warehouse she went to the garage door and looked at the car that was leaving. Quickly, she memorized the plate.
"Do you need something?" one of her father's guards asked her.
Innocently she looked at him, "Was that my Daddy that just left?"
"No," The guard told her coldly.
"Oh, okay." She said with a smile as she turned and walked back inside. Her mind was already starting to come up with a vengeful plan. Seeing the head engineer she went up to him and smiled sweetly.
"Hello."
The engineer looked at her, "Hello. Can I help you with something?" he asked as he continued his work.
"I'm kind of bored and I wanna know if you have any loose wires or other stuff that you don't need."
The engineer didn't even look at her, "There's a few big boxes in the back of the warehouse by the garbage, that are full of that kind of stuff. On each of them it says 'wastes'. You can take whatever you want from there."
"Thank you." Candy told him as she dashed off to find the boxes. She had no trouble finding them at all and soon she was going through them and picking out various wires, metal plates, and other items. Taking the items she went to a secluded yet bright area and began to piece the pieces together. Soon she discovered she needed some tools in order to complete her project. The only place that had the most tools was right by or close to Goliath. Casually, Candy walked back to Goliath and started to look for the tools that she needed. Finding the tools, and seeing no one was paying any attention to her she quickly hid them in her pockets. When she had everything she needed she went back to her work area and began to piece things together. Her project was almost completed in on hour but still needed one key element. Taking the item she went in search of her father. Finding him in the lab looking over Goliath's schematics, she slowly went up to him.
"Dad, I need something."
Garth didn't take his gaze away from the schematics. "What do you need?"
"Gun powder or fertilizer."
That got Garth's attention and he looked at her. Seeing her holding a rather odd item he wondered what was going on. "What is that?"
"That man wants to hurt you. This will hurt him even more." She said as she gave Garth the item.
"Elier?" Garth said as he took the devise from her. It looked like a little bomb, but where did Candy get it from? "Candace, where did you find this?"
"I made it." She plainly told him, "You put it inside the gas tank and when you activate it…"
"It explodes." Garth said as he looked at the bomb. It was just the right side to fit into the gas tank. He looked at Candy and grinned, "My dear, you are a jewel. You indeed are my child." He hunched down and looked at her. "I am a very proud father."
Candy hugged him and Garth hugged her back. Garth then released her and asked,
"Show me how this works, my dear and what else you need in order for it to work."
Candy began to explain it and Garth began to contemplate his next move. Today Garth Knight was a very happy man.

"Michael, April's calling." KITT informed him.
"Patch it through, "Michael told him. April was soon on one of KITT's screens and Michael saw that she carried a really worried look on her face.
"April, what is it?" Michael asked right away.
"It's Devon, he was knocked unconscious when he went to Elizabeth Knight's house."
"What? Is he all right?"
"Now, he is but the doctor says that it'll take a while for him to fully recover."
Michael saw that she was hiding something back. "April, what are you holding back?"
April sighed, "The doctor found a truth serum in Devon. Devon thinks that it may have been used on him to get information on the molecular bonded shell."
"My molecular bonded shell?!" KITT exclaimed.
Michael was just as confused as KITT, "Wait a minute, I thought that only Wilton Knight knew the formula."
"He did but three other people knew parts of the formula. Devon was one of those three." April informed him.
Michael looked at the monitor, "April, did you check on the other two people."
April nodded her head gravely, "It seems that each of them had a similar 'accident' when Elizabeth went to visit them."
"If Garth Knight has the formula to my shell then who knows what he'll be able to do with it!" KITT exclaimed.
Michael sighed. If that was the case then the formula was in the wrong hands. Who knew what Garth would do with the formula. As far as Michael knew, Garth would probably sell it to the highest bidder, make a tidy profit, and flee the country. With Garth, it was hard to tell what he would do.
Michael turned back to the monitor, "All right, April. Keep me up to date on Devon's condition. I have a lead that I'm hoping will take me to where Candy's at."
April sighed, "Be careful, Michael."
"I will," with that the viewscreen was shut off.
"Michael! What are we to do?" KITT asked him as they continued to drive on.
"Right now, we have to find Candy first because she's in grave danger if she's with Garth."
"Of coarse, Michael. As usual you're right. But the thought of that tyrant having my molecular bonded formula…"
Michael picked up KITT's train of thought, "I know buddy. I know."

"It's in place, Mr. Knight," a man told Garth over the phone.
Garth grinned with pleasure. The mini bomb was in place in Eiler's car and Garth held the key to it's operation. He loved to have the upper hand in a situation.
"Very good." With that Garth put the phone down and walked over to Candy who was on the computer again. This time adding some new ideas into Goliath's schematics. Garth couldn't help but admire the child. She held a vast amount of knowledge that would help him gain more power then he could ever have imagined.
Candy felt him watching her and turned around to look at him, "Is there something wrong, Dad?"
Garth came up to her and gently tilted her chin, looking directly into her brown eyes. "I am very proud to have you as a daughter, Candace. I assure you that after the Amtron project is completed you will have anything and everything that you have ever desired."
Candy beamed, "Can I have a new computer?"
"Of coarse, my dear. Whatever your little heart desires." Garth let go of her chin, "Where did you put the remote detonator?"
"Here," Candy said as she jumped out of the chair and ran to a table on the other side of the room. Picking up a mini metal box, she explained, "It's ready to go. All you have to do is press this red button to activate it and if you want to deactivate it press the black one."
Garth went up to her and took the box from her. "Excellent work, Candace. Now why don't you go finish the adjustments to Goliath?"
Obediently Candy went back to the computer and continued to add some more changes to the schematic. She finally felt like she was a part of something big. No more sitting in her room trying to create codes to let her gain access to unauthorized areas. Now she could create and modify new gadgets and add adjustments to make things run more efficiently. Plus, Garth promised her she'd get what she wanted which included a new computer. What more could she want? There was a dull ache that Candy felt deep inside. Pushing that ache aside, she continued with her work, thinking of tomorrow and not the future.

Michael unlocked the apartment door with the key that Rita gave him. The place was a big mess with clothes in different corners of the room. Books and newspapers laid on the couch and some chairs. Michael carefully walked over the garbage. He decided to look in the bedroom first to see if he could find any clues as to where Ron may have gone. Michael walked into the bedroom and found a collage of newspaper articles posted all over one side of the wall. Walking up to it he started to read the headlines. "Area 51: Alien Warehouse?" "What is really in Area 51?" Most of the articles were fairly recent, only two or three were older. Michael scanned the articles one by one to see if there was any clue at all. Finally, he found an article that gave him a big clue. He picked it up and read it.
"Retired Army General William Gales stated today that a special extraterrestrial weapon code name Amtron, was what caused the mild earthquake in Arizona."
Michael stopped. An alien weapon? Could Garth be after something like that? Was he crazy enough to try it? Michael thought a moment. If there was a weapon like that then the world would be at Garth's mercy of he had possession of it.
"KITT, find out all that you can about Area 51." Michael said as he got up and started to walk out of the apartment.
"Area 51? The supposed extraterrestrial army facility?" KITT asked confused.
"Yeah, the same. Find out everything you can because that's where we're heading."
"You can't be serious."
"I'm dead serious buddy. The key to finding Garth is out there."
"I wonder if he came from there." KITT commented with some amusement.
Michael smirked. Leave it to KITT to crack a joke at a time like this.

Garth parked his car in the rumbling and bustling street. Across from him was the hotel that Elier was staying in. Garth inconspicuously and patiently watched as people stopped and left the hotel. Elier was sure to leave the hotel soon. Garth phoned Elier earlier to invite him to inspect Goliath once more. Elier seemed very pleased and eager to come again and view the great machine. Looking at his Rolex, Garth saw that Elier should be leaving at any time. Soon, Garth saw Elier's car drive up to the hotel doors. Garth smirked as he saw Elier come out of the hotel and get into his car. The car slowly drove away and Garth followed it from a distance. Pretty soon, the cars were out in the desert and Garth knew that the car's driver would spot him. Garth sped up and soon he saw that Elier looked behind and saw Garth. Grinning, Garth slowed down and grabbed the detonator. Seeing something was amiss, Elier's car stopped. Garth pushed the red button and the whole car went up in flames. Garth began to laugh as the form of the car burned a bright orange. He continued to laugh as he turned his car around and headed back. It felt great to be in control again.
To be continued…
