Transcriber's note: This is my all-time favorite Tad and Dixie scene. There's just something about it...how sweet and shy they both were, the tenderness and the love shining through, their amazing chemistry, and the whole feeling that it was darn well about time that they got married and...ahem..consummated the relationship. Anyway, enjoy the transcript, although it in no way replaces the real thing(any fans who were unfortunate enough to not be watching when this honeymoon happened are welcome to email me, 'cause I'd be more than happy to make a copy for you!)

The Honeymoon

Thanks to Nico, poor Tad and Dixie have been constantly interrupted by the arrival of countless silly little gifts, being delivered every five minutes, which effectively prevented them from…ahem…starting anything on their wedding night. Finally, the bellhops stop knocking on the door to deliver anything, and Tad and Dixie take advantage of the privacy.

D: I love you.

T: (in between kisses) I love you, too. (breaking the kiss, he pulls back to look into her face) Do you have any idea how good it feels to be here with you?

D: (gazing at him lovingly) I know how good I feel. (dreamily) I’m Mrs. Tad Martin. I can’t believe it. (reaching up to stroke his face, run her fingers through his hair) I mean, I’ve waited so long, and…

T: Well, we got here. That’s the important thing.

Dixie leans in to kiss him, and he lowers her slowly onto the bed. Their passion continues to build, but then, as Tad starts kissing her neck, Dixie tenses up and pulls back.

D: Ooh, it’s getting warm in here—I think I need some air.

With that, she rises quickly from the bed and walks over to open the door to the patio, standing there in the semi-darkness, taking deep breaths of the night air. Tad lies on the bed for a few moments, looking rather perplexed, then he gets up, and heads over to where Dixie is standing.

D: (still standing with her back to the rest of the room, and to Tad) Well, Nico certainly was a hoot, doing all this, wasn’t he? Getting all these things set up, getting everyone to go in on it with him and everything.

T: (coming to stand behind her, talking to her gently) Dixie, why are you acting like this? You don’t have to be shy.

D: (turning around to face him) I know. I just…I’ve waited so long for us to be together, and I’ve wanted us to be together, and now we’re together and…(breaking eye contact and slipping past him, back into the room) I’m nervous. (Dixie moves to stand with her back to him again, arms wrapped around herself protectively)

T : I know what you mean—I felt exactly the same way just before we got married.

D: (turning to face him) You did?

T: Yeah—I had a really bad attack of "I’m not good enough for Dixie." But my mom straightened me out. She told me that as soon as I saw you walking down that aisle, I’d realize how perfect we were for each other. And she was right.

D: (smiling happily) I can’t believe that. I can’t believe that you had any doubts. I mean, you’re so sure of everything. (eyes softening, the love she feels becoming even more evident) You know that I think you’re wonderful.

T: (walking over to stand directly in front of her) And you know that I think that you’re more wonderful than I am.

D: (shyly looking away, reaching up to swat his arm playfully, lovingly) Oh, Tad.

T: No, it’s true, it’s true. (she takes a step closer, and looks up into his face, once again making eye contact) I know what the problem is—we’ve spent so much time looking forward to this that we’ve sort of turned it into a big deal.

D: (softly) Yeah…maybe.

T: Hey, so who says we’ve got to jump the gun? I mean, this is the honeymoon, this is the beginning of our lives together for the rest of our lives. I mean, if we wanted to, we could go real…slow. (OMG, is he a prince or what? Gotta love him!)

D: (smiling softly, gazing up at him lovingly) I love you.

T: (smiling down at her equally lovingly) I love you, too.

With that, they move in to kiss, but before they have a chance to get hot and heavy, they are interrupted by a mariachi band, followed by half the hotel staff, dancing and singing (thanks once again to Nico, of course!). Tad tries his very best, but he can’t get them to stop, and before they know it, our beloved duo is being dragged off to a fiesta being held in their honor.

Eventually, Tad and Dixie managed to escape the fiesta and returned to their hotel room. After making sure that all their doors were securely locked, the newlyweds got on to more…important things.
Dixie emerges from the bathroom wearing a silky and lacy nightgown (actually a very tame little number, but hey, this is daytime, not some x-rated flick!). Tad just stares at her, totally speechless.

D: How’re you doing?

T: How’m I doing? I’m doing fine. (never taking his eyes off her) If I could breathe I’d be doing a little better.

D: (with a little laugh) Well, breathe.

T: (with a big, soft smile) It’s not that easy. (pausing, searching for the right words) You look so beautiful.

D: (not as shy anymore) Thanks.

T: How you doing?

D: (nodding, smiling softly) I’m doing good. I feel really good, because I know that you love me as much as I love you.

T: You know something, if we live to be a hundred, it's not gonna be enough time to spend with you.

D: (smiling broadly) You promised me something once. You promised me you'd make my dreams come true, and you have. I love you.

They lean into a kiss that deepens and grows more passionate, and then they proceed to remove their robes, and well, we all know where it goes from there!

Tad and Dixie wake up the next morning wrapped in each others’ arms.

T: Good morning, Mrs. Martin

D: (smiling dreamily) Mrs. Martin…(smiling even more broadly) that sounds so weird.

T: Weird-good or weird-strange?

D: Oh, weird-wonderful. (pausing to think about it, a smile still on her face) It’s going to take some getting used to.

T: You know, I’ve been thinking…about the name change and all that…and I decided that, well, if you didn’t like it, or you weren’t too crazy about the idea of becoming Mrs. Thaddeus Martin—anybody could understand that—and you wanted to be Ms. Cooney, or Ms. Cooney slash/hyphen Martin, you know what I mean? (looking down into her eyes, trying to sound nonchalant, when really he’s been tripping over his words).

D: (gazing up at him, smiling indulgently) Mmm hmm…

T: What I’m trying to say is…I wouldn’t mind…(trying to sound convincing, but failing miserably) too much.

D: (smiling, her eyes sparkling with repressed laughter) You wouldn’t?

T: (stuttering) Uh, no, I’d get over it.

D: (laughing softly at his attempt to be so sweet and accommodating) Well, I’d mind. I love being Mrs. Martin. I want the whole world to call me Mrs. Thaddeus Martin.

T: (looking hopeful) For real?

D: Yeah, for real.

T: (cracking a smile, finally revealing how he really felt about the whole thing) I’m glad you feel that way.

D: (smiling broadly, teasing him a bit) I thought you would be.

They both start laughing, and then kiss passionately. When the scene comes back in, Dixie is lying with her head pillowed on Tad’s chest, both of them looking deliriously happy.

T: What are you thinking?

D: How good I feel. How natural it feels lying here with you.

T: Haven’t you realized by now that this was meant to be? (Dixie laughs softly) No, seriously, think about it. Everything we’ve been through—the good and the bad—it was all supposed to happen so that eventually we’d end up here together. As far as I’m concerned, I’m going to spend the rest of my life trying to make you half as happy as you’ve made me.

D: (softly, lovingly) Oh, Tad, don’t you know that you already have? You’re wonderful—you’re perfect. (he starts to roll his eyes, to protest, but she stops him) You are. It’s been a perfect wedding, a perfect honeymoon. I’m afraid that we’re going to have to face up to the fact that we’re perfect people.

T: Well, you’d better get used to it, because that’s the way it’s going to be from here on out.

And so the honeymoon carried on. And amazingly, our beloved duo did actually make it out of the hotel room a couple of times, but just long enough to do a little souvenir shopping for their loved ones back in Pine Valley. After all, what are honeymoons for?
