Escapade Zine Library

We all love to read. Thanks to our con suite hostess, Misti, there will be ample reading material in the con suite. Misti generously lends her own zines, and then twists her friends' arms until they loan zines, circuit stories and netfic. And yet, there's still never enough to read. So once again, we're inviting everyone who has something to share to bring it along to the con suite. You may lend your stories or zinesfor the weekend, or you may make a permanent donation to the Escapade zine library. (Hint to editors: this is a great way to promote your zines!)

Misti and her trusty crew will do their best to protect all zines loaned, but she's not a Sentinel, so we can't absolutely guarantee no harm will come to them. We can tell you that none have been damaged or stolen in the past, though.

Escapade Art Show

The Escapade art show welcomes all kinds of fannish arts and crafts! Prints and
resales from your own collection are perfectly acceptable (though no more than one of any print can go in). Pieces with two bids go to a voice auction on Sunday morning. We also welcome pieces meant for display only, not for sale, and pieces to be sold to benefit our convention charity, Good Hearted People."

Orphan Zine Table

Escapade is delighted to offer non-attending zine editors, as well as folks clearing out their closets an opportunity to sell their zines. We will take a 15% commission on all sales. Feel free to write to us escapade09@hotmail.com to receive an Orphan Zine form.

Mailing orphan zines to us:
If you will be mailing zines before 2/15/99, please mail them to Ken Dase, 333 Mathilda, #1, Goleta, CA 93117. If you mail them after that date, please send them to Ken Dase (hold for arrival 2/25/99), c/o Holiday Inn, 565- Calle Real, Goleta, CA , 93117.

Gopher (Volunteer) Info

Basically, there are two areas in which to work:

The Art Show & Auction reports to Shoshanna. She has a meeting Friday at 1:30 pm (or see her as soon as you arrive); she'll assign you hours throughout the weekend.

• Art Show Staff: Setting up the art show, sitting security, answering questions, breaking it down, and helping out during the auction. (Chatting with anyone who comes in is common.)

Con Operations reports to Misti, and covers the following positions:

• Registration/Con Suite: Handing out program books, badges, schedules, collecting money, as well as refilling Con Suite snacks and generally policing the area. (Chatting with friends and tolerance for disco required.)
• Dealer's Room Security: Sitting at the door of the Dealer's Room, checking that everyone has a badge to get in. (Chatting with friends encouraged.)
