Episode Summary   transcribed by Mystic

This is actually more than one episode.  They took place in December 1995.  It is about Jack and Jennifer's little adventure at the Blue Moon, the club that Jude St. Claire owned.  If you remember,Jack and Jennifer were there because they are trying to find out who Jude's boss was.  John had been arrested for Tony's murder, and Jack and Jennifer were doing all they could to prove John's innocence.  They believed that Jude and/or his boss was connected to the crime, so they came back to Salem from Aremid to investigate.  Everyone else is still in Aremid, including Peter.  By the way, this was during the time when they switched Jennifer's.  I'll let you know when the switch takes place.

---------------------------------

[Jack and Jennifer arrive at the Blue Moon. They are outside the place and looking around]

Jack - (quietly to Jenn) If we wanna find out about Jude and his connections, this is the place.

Jenn - (looks around) Well, it doesn't look as sleazy as I thought it would.

Jack - Yeah, that kind of surprised me too. (pauses and looks at Jenn) But I still would not
want you coming to a place like this alone. (Jenn stares at him) Hey, remember that
warehouse corruption case we investigated? I got the feeling we're dealing with the same
kinds of people here. But we got our men then, didn't we?

Jenn - Yeah, we did but Bo and Hope worked undercover here and they
didn't get any information on Jude.

Jack - Yeah, but Jude has disappeared so we won't have him looking over
our shoulders. (Jenn says nothing) Look, maybe we'll get lucky, maybe we won't. But we
have to give it a shot. We gotta try. And our best shot is to connect Jude to Tony.
Somebody wanted Tony dead. It could be Jude's boss.

[Jenn stares at Jack like he could be right, and slightly nods her head]

---------------------------------

Jenn - Maybe this isn't such a good idea, Jack.

Jack - No, no, no. If I know Peter, he's probably already had John arrested by now. It's up
to us to prove his innocence. (Jenn stares at him, slightly annoyed by his comment about
Peter) Listen, I know it' a long shot, but we have worked through tougher odds before.
We've cracked some pretty big cases. We make a great team. (Jenn continues to just stare
at him) What's wrong?

Jenn - I don't want a relationship with you either personal or professional. I want to help John and I will work with you on this but only to clear John. After this, we are history Jack.

Jack - You know your grandfather used to say that forgiveness heals a broken heart. Makes it whole again.

Jenn - I remember that. I do. I remember that.

Jack - Mm hmm.

Jenn - And I have tried to forgive you for walking out on Abby and me, and for making my life miserable when you came back to Salem....... but there is one thing that I can never forgive -- you sleeping with my mother.

[Jenn walks away and Jack uncomfortable that she brought that up.]

---------------------------------

[Jenn is standing in front of the door of the Blue Moon. Jack runs over to her]

Jack - We have to talk.

Jenn - Let's not get into this whole thing right now, all right? It's too painful. Let's just not do this.

Jack - (completly ignores that) I know you were shocked to find me with your mother. How
betrayed you felt. I was only comforting her.

Jenn - Oh, I know. The same way you were comforting her at the Meadows,
right?

Jack - I swear to you, I didn't know Laura was your mother at the Meadows. I didn't find
out until I got back to Salem.

Jenn - Oh, but instead of telling me the truth, you talked my mother into lying for you.

Jack - I lied to protect you. But I realize now that that was wrong.

Jenn - Only because I found out! (Jack stares at her sadly and doesn't deny it) You weren't
really ever gonna tell me, were you?

Jack - (pauses, then says quietly) No.

Jenn - (looks disappointed) You know, just before my wedding, I thought that maybe I was
making a mistake by not giving you a second chance.

Jack - (looks happy) I know! I know! I could feel it!

Jenn - And I am just so glad that I found out the truth in time and I married Peter. (Jack
looks terribly disappointed) Finally, I found someone that I can love and that I can trust.
Someone that will always be completely honest with me.

[Jack looks heartbroken ]

-------------------------------------

[Jack is holding Jenn's arms]

Jack - I don't have the same confidence in Peter that you do. I know he's not what he
appears to be.

Jenn - I don't know how you can say that about Peter after everything
that you've done.

Jack - (pauses) He's no good!

Jenn - Prove it! (Jack is speechless) You have been trying for months to find anything
negative about Peter, and you can't. Except for the fact that he was brought up by Stefano.
Oh, so he must be bad.

Jack - (frustrated) All right, all right, all right. I won't say anything else about Peter and his
sorted associations, nor the fact that I love you and I want you back.

Jenn - You just did, Jack. (starts to walk away)

Jack - (stops her) Wait, listen. We're doing this for John and Kristen. If you don't want to
help, then I'll do it alone.

Jenn - Oh really, why? You don't know John and Kristen well enough to put yourself in
danger and you don't do anything without a selfish motive.

Jack - Yeah, well the old Jack didn't. But I've changed. I have different motives now.

Jenn - (starts to laugh) Oh, really. What are they, Jack?

Jack - I don't want to see John take a rap for something he didn't do. And it kills me to see
the look in Kristen's eye when she thinks that he's guilty.

Jenn - (quickly comes to Kristen's defense) She's just confused right now and she's upset.

Jack - She looks at him the way you look at me. (Jenn is affected by
that, and stares at Jack)Look, both John and I have been condemmed for circumstancial evidence,
and the women we love does not believe us. (Jenn looks down at the ground, avoiding his eyes) Listen, I don't blame you for the doubt you're feeling, Jennifer. I'm sure John doesn't blame Kristen
either. (Jenn still say nothing) .........I'm doing this on my own.

[Jack leaves Jenn standing there alone, and he walks into the Blue Moon. Jenn stares after
him, sadly]

-------------------------------------

[Jack is inside the Blue Moon now and he sits at the bar. Some guy is talking to the bartender saying, "Nobody's heard from Jude. I got these papers connecting him to someone who definitely does not want his name involved." Jack is listening to this. The guy noticesJack and walks away. The bartender walks over to Jack.]

Jack - Hi. I'll just take a beer please....... You know, maybe you could help me. I'm looking
for a guy named Jude St. Claire.

Bartender - Are you a cop or a reporter?

Jack - (laughs) Uh, neither. We did some business together back east. He told me if I was
ever back in Salem to look him up here.

Bartender - (shakes his head) Can't help you, buddy.

Jack - You know, that's kind of strange because when I talked to him last, he was bragging
that he owned this place.

[The bartender ignores him. Jack takes a sip of his beer. A waitress comes up to the bar and
looks at Jack.]

Waitress - Hey! I know you! Jack Deveraux! (Jack looks at her, terrified she might blow his
cover) Yes, you have that t.v. show with your ex-wife.

Jack - Uh, no. (nervously laughs) I really think you have me confused with someone else.

Waitress - Uh uh. You guys have that gimmick going where you pretend to hate each other?
If you ask me, I think you and Jennifer are still in love.

[Jack looks at the bartender, who has been listening to this, and laughs like she's crazy]

Jack - Excuse me. I gotta take off. (pays for the beer) Thanks. (and with that, he runs out of
there)

[Jack goes back outside]

Jack - Damn!

Jenn - (pops up) What happened?

Jack - Oh no, you're not here to say 'I told you so', are you?

Jenn - Well, I would love to but we can't afford to waste time.

Jack - (pauses) So you are gonna help John and Kristen.

Jenn - Yes, I am. But that's the only reason I'm doing this. So tell me what happened!

Jack - Well, listen. This manager was talking to a bartender about these papers of Jude's that
would connect him to somebody. Somebody who does not want to be connected.

Jenn - Okay, they're talking about his boss!

Jack - Exactly!

Jenn - All right, let's get in there and find out who it is!

Jack - No! We can't because the waitress recognized me from the t.v. show. She's gonna
definitely recognize you.

Jenn - (sighs) All right. I know a way to get around that. Come on.

[Jenn walks away with Jack right behind her.]

--------------------------------------

[Jack and Jenn are walking back to the Blue Moon, in their get-ups.  They look pretty funny. Jack has his hair dyed black and has on a black mustache. He's wearing a strange suit.  A dark blue shirt with a grayish-silver jacket and pants. He even has a matching dark blue handerchief sticking out of his upper left pocket on his jacket. As he's walking, he removes the sunglasses he's wearing.  Jenn is wearing a black wig, her fake hair pretty long now. Lots of make-up. She has on a mini-blue printed dress with high heels. And she has on this leapord printed fur coat. They look ridiculous! But funny!]

Jack - Well, great idea Jenn. I don't think anybody's gonna recognize us.

Jenn - All right, look. You just make sure you keep everyone busy so I can get into the office
and find those papers.

Jack - I still think I should be the one in there snooping around.

Jenn - No, no, no. Because if we get caught, I can talk my way out easier, okay?

Jack - Well, make it quick!

Jenn - Of course I'm gonna make it quick! I want this to be over and done with. I have a
honeymoon with Peter I'm supposed to be on right now.

Jack - Oh! (he rolls his eyes, very annoyed)

Jenn - Let's go.

[They head for the door to the Blue Moon]

---------------------------------

[Jack and Jenn are inside standing by the front entrance. They're scoping out the place]

Jack - Hey, we're in luck. I think the shifts have changed. That's not the same bartender.

Jenn - Okay.

[They start walking over to the bar. Jack puts his arm around Jenn, but she pulls it off. Jack's
just trying to get into character. After all, they're supposed to be a couple. They get to the
bar and sit down. Jenn starts to remove her coat and Jack helps her saying, "Let me get that
for you, baby." The bartender comes over to them]

Jack - (speaking with an Italian accent) Champagne, please! You're very best!

Bartender - Yes, sir!

Jack - And keep it flowing, huh?

Bartender - Mr. .........?

Jack - Uh..... (thinks) Montiarro! (Jenn stares at him)

[The bartender leaves to get their drinks, looking at them like they're crazy]

Jenn - (quietly) Do you think that he recognizes us?

Jack - (leans over to Jenn) I don't think that's the case.

[The bartender comes back with the drinks and looks at Jenn]

Bartender - Does the little lady have any I.D.?

[Jennifer looks at the bartender, insulted. Jack looks at Jenn, and I think he's afraid she's
about to tell him off so he speaks for her]

Jack - Trust me, my friend! Trust me, my friend. This little lady here? She does not need no
I.D. (Jack turns his stool so he is facing her. He turns Jenn around so she is facing him) She is old enough, huh? (he's saying, "She is old enough, if you know what I mean...")

[Jack grabs Jenn and kisses her hard on the lips, pretty passionately! They're sitting really
close to each other. Picture it: Jenn's kind of sitting in between Jack's legs. She grabs Jack's
leg with both her hands and starts squeezing really hard in an effort to get him to stop. He still
doesn't let up! Finally, he let's Jenn go. She stares at him.  Jack looks at her triumphantly and claps his hands together once]

Bartender - (gets the picture) Okay, pal. Enjoy.

Jenn - (to Jack) Well, baby. You know what? I think you probably just messed up my
make-up. (she takes a napkin and starts wiping Jack's mouth. Then she hits him over the
head)

Jack - Baby, I'm sorry, huh? You know, with you I get out of control!

Jenn - (to the bartender) Excuse me, can you tell me where the little girl's room is?

Bartender - Yeah, up the stairs. Not before the door marked Private.

[Jenn looks at Jack, then stands up]

Jack - Hey, you hurry up, huh?

[Jenn turns around and Jack smacks her on the butt.   Jenn turns right back around and
hits Jack back.  Jack gives a tiny smile and looks like he enjoyed it.  Jenn walks away, but in the background we see her turn around and she gives Mark a smile. It couldn't have been in the script. I think Missy Reeves enjoyed that scene!]

Jack - (to the bartender) Let me tell you something, huh? That woman right there, huh? She
is one fine, drives me absolutely crazy.

Bartender - (looks at Jack closely) You know something? I got the strangest feeling I know
you.

Jack - (looks worried) No, I don't think you know me. I'm not from this town.

[The bartender looks doubtful, and Jack tries to keep his cool]

-------------------------------------

[Jennifer is in the private room now, where the files are kept. Her cellular phone rings and she
rushes over to answer it]

Jenn - (whispers) Hello?!

Peter - Is that Mrs. Peter Blake?

Jenn - Peter! Why are you calling?!

Peter - I'm lonely up here in Aremid without my wife. Why are you whispering?

Jenn - Listen, you are not gonna believe where I am right now. I am in Jude St. Claire's office!

Peter - WHAT?! What are you doing there?!!

Jenn - Listen, just calm down! I'm trying to find something that will tell me who Jude went to
Aremid to meet.

[Peter looks terrified that Jennifer will discover that he is Jude's boss]

* That was Melissa Reeves' last scene on the show

--------------------------------------

* Stephanie Cameron is Jennifer now...

[Jenn, still talking on the phone to Peter, opens a drawer in a file cabinet]

Jenn - There must be something in here that will tell me who Jude St. Claire was planning to meet in Aremid. I bet it's his boss.

Peter - Jennifer, I want you out of there right now!

Jenn - Maybe this person has something to do with Tony's murder.

Peter - No!

Jenn - Don't worry, I'm being careful. Jack's standing guard outside.

Peter - Wait a minute, Jack's with you?!

Jenn - Yeah, it was his idea.

Peter - I should have known this was one of Jack's stunts. All right, now look. You go home
now. I'll get over there as soon as I can.

Jenn - No Peter, I can't leave yet. I'm too close to finding out who's backing Jude, and it
could prove John's innocence.

Peter - Jennifer, listen to me for a second --

Jenn - (interrupts) No, I have to do this. For John and Kristen. Please understand. I gotta go.
I promise I'll be careful. I love you! Bye. (she hangs up the phone, leaving Peter paranoid)

--------------------------------

[Jenn is still lookinig in one of the file cabines and rummaging around the papers. Jack bursts
into the room and scares Jennifer]

Jenn - Jack!

Jack - It's me. Did you find anything yet?

Jenn - Not yet.

Jack - Well, have you looked through everything in that cabinet right there? (points at the file
cabinet Jenn was previously looking in)

Jenn - Not yet, but I'll keep looking. (she walks back to the cabinet, opens it up, and
continues to rummage around)

-----------------------------------------

[Jenn is still looking through the cabinets, and Jack is looking through some papers]

Jenn - Maybe there's something in here.

Jack - This place is really raking in the cash.

Jenn - There's a lot of files marked "Shipments and Deliveries...... I've never heard of
Columbian Whiskey, have you?

Jack - It must be drugs. (pauses) You know, the more I look through this stuff, the more I
realize that Jude and his boss must have something to do with Tony's murder. We just need
solid proof to give to the police.

Jenn - Well, let's look in the next drawer.

Jack - All right.

[Jenn opens up the next drawer and they continue searching]

-----------------------------------

Jenn - (frustrated) I can't seem to find anything that says whose Jude's boss is!

Jack - Shhhh! Just keep looking!

Jenn - (closing the drawer) Jack, I think we should leave.

Jack - Listen, what we are doing could affect John's future. I think it's worth a few more
minutes, don't you?

[Jenn nods. Then they hear police sirens]

Jenn - The police! Let's get outta here!

Jack - No wait! Let's look in this drawer. (he rushes over to the file cabinet and opens a
drawer)

Jenn - I already looked in there Jack!

[Jack takes out a steel box]

Jack - What's this?

Jenn - (in a panic) I don't know. I didn't see it. Come on! Let's go! Come on! (tries to pull
Jack away)

[Jack manages to get the box open just as the police burst in. They are pointing guns at Jack
and Jenn and tell them to put their hands up in the air]

--------------------------------------------

The police handcuffs both Jack and Jennifer and drags them out of Jude's private room. As they are being lead out, Jenn is yelling at Jack saying it was his fault and Jack is apologizing.

----------------------------------------

[Jack and Jennifer are in a holding cell now, along with the other criminals of Salem. And
they're still dressed up in their undercover disguises]

Jenn - (walks up to the bars and holds them. Jack is behind her] I can't believe I'm in jail. I
cannot believe I'm in jail.

Jack - Well, technically it's not a jail. It's actually a holding cell. They usually separate the men from the women but the guard said that it was..... crowded.... tonight.

Jenn - (annoyed) What difference does it make Jack?! I'm under arrest and it's all your fault.

Jack - Oh, and how was I supposed to know the police were going to raid the Blue Moon
tonight?

Jenn - All I can think about is getting out of here. Peter is coming home soon and he's not
gonna be very happy when he finds out that I'm spending the night in jail.

[Jack looks at her but doesn't say anything]

------------------------------------

[Jack and Jenn are sitting next to each other on a bench. Jack gets up and walks over to the bars with Jenn right behind him. I think she's scared of all those other people locked up with them]

Jack - Uh, guard! (turns and looks at Jenn) Pretty busy tonight. Looks like it's a big night in
Salem for crime.

[A guard walks up and unlocks the cell door]

Jenn - Finally!

[The guard slides the cell door open and Jenn starts to walk out. The guard stops her]

Guard - Where do you think you're going?

Jenn - (matter-of-factly) To make a phone call.

Guard - It'll have to wait. (he looks past her) Jack Deveraux!

Jack - Right here!

[The guard signals Jack to come out]

Jenn - (stops Jack) Wait! Why's he getting out?

Guard - He's not. I'm just taking him down to be booked.

Jenn - (quietly to Jack) You can't leave me alone in here.

Jack - (to the guard) She has to come with me.

Guard - Forget about it. Out.

[Jack slowly walks out of the holding cell. He turns around and looks at Jenn]

Jenn - (whispers) These people are so weird.

Jack - I know. Just ignore them. You'll be fine. I'll be right back.

[The guard closes the cell door and he and Jack leave. Jenn slowly walks back into the cell.  Some big guy walks over to Jenn]

Big Guy - Hey, don't be nervous little girl. I'll take care of you. (he starts to stroke her cheek)
Real good care.

[Jenn looks really scared]

[The Big Guy has his arms around Jenn and she's struggling to keep him off. She shoves her
wedding ring in his face and says, "I'm married, see?" and he says it's not a problem since her
hubby ain't here. He continues to struggle with her when Jack comes running in]

Jack - Hey! Let her go! (he pushes the Big Guy so his hands are off Jenn) I said let her go!!

Big Guy - Or what? (he puts his arms around Jenn again)

Jack - Or you'll regret it!

Big Guy - Oh yeah? How?

[This Big Guy is awfully BIG compared to Jack, and Jack notices. So I don't think he is about to get into a fighting match with him]

Jenn - Jack, maybe you shouldn't.

Jack - Well, I'm obviously not gonna fight you in here... friend. You're the king in here.

Big Guy - That's right. So back off!

[He and Jenn start struggling again. Jack, angry, pushes the Big Guy again to protect Jenn]

Jack - But you're not the king on the outside! I'm gonna be out of here very soon and it might
not be in your best interest to underestimate the resources of a complete stranger!

Big Guy - Yeah? Who the hell are you?

Jack - I promise, you lay one finger on her, you will regret it for the rest of your life.

Big Guy - Don't make me laugh.

Jack - Oh no, you definitely won't be laughing when I get finished with you. As a matter of
fact, you're gonna be crying for mercy. Who am I? Well, you ask yourself that when you try
to get a job and no one will hire you. When you so much throw a gum wrapper on the street,
and the police arrest you. That's who I am. Every time you look over your shoulder, I'm
gonna be there. Am I making myself clear?

[Jenn watches Jack with admiration]

Big Guy - You're bluffing.

Jack - Well, we won't know that 'till we get outta here and by then it'll be too late.

[Big Guy hesitates but then let's go of Jenn]

Big Guy - (to Jack) You're lucky I'm in a good mood today.

[Big Guy walks away. Jenn walks closer over to Jack]

Jenn - (smiling) Thank you, Jack. I've never seen you so protective. You were amazing with
that guy.

Jack - (shocked that she's just now realizing this) What do you think I've been trying to do
these past few months? Do you think I enjoyed running around Aremid chasing ghosts,
making a fool out of myself at your wedding? I've been trying to protect you this whole time.

[Jenn kind of stares at Jack lovingly. But Peter has to arrive and ruin the moment.]

Peter - Jennifer!

Jenn - (walks past Jack) Peter!

Peter - Are you all right?

Jenn - (smiles) Yeah. Thanks to Jack. He looked after me.

[Peter looks at Jack, probably really ticked off about that]

-------------------------------

[Peter is explaining to Jenn how he knew where she was. The truth is -- Peter obviously
knew Jenn was in Jude's office since she told him. So he arranged for the cops to go and raid
the Blue Moon, so that would stop Jenn and Jack from finding out the truth]

Peter - When I got back from Aremid, you weren't at the house so I got worried. I called the
police and they said you've been arrested. I've arranged your bail, sweetheart.

Jenn - (relieved) Thank God. I can't wait to get home.

Peter - (turns to the guard) Open this door, will you.

Jack - (looks at all the criminals in the cell) Gentlemen, it's been a pleasure. Take care of yourselves.

[The guard slides open the cell door and Jenn runs out and hugs Peter. Jack's on his way out
too, but the guard slides the cell door back shut, leaving Jack inside]

Jack - What's going on?

Peter - I arranged for Jenifer to get out and only Jennifer. You can stay here and rot for all I
care, Jack. (to Jenn) Come on, sweetheart. Let's go.

[Peter takes Jenn's hand and begins to lead her out. Jenn looks at Jack sadly, then follows
Peter out. Jack has a look that says, "What am I gonna do now?"]

--------------------------------

[Jack is still in the holding cell sitting on the bench with one leg on top of it. A prostitute
named Rhonda, wearing a red mini-dress walks over to Jack, pushes his leg off the bench
and sits down, facing him.]

Rhonda - You look like you could use some company.

Jack - (not wanting any part of the kind of "company" she could provide) No, I don't.... I
don't really......

Rhonda - I'm not in here for overdue parking tickets. (laughs) I'm usually too smart to get
caught but I stopped in the Blue Moon for a drink....

Jack - Mm hmm.

Rhonda - .....5 minutes before it got raided. Not my day, I guess. (inches herself closer to
Jack)

Jack - (gently pushes her away) No, no. It's not mine either.

Rhonda - I'm Rhonda!

Jack - I'm Jack. (shakes her hand, still trying to keep his distance) Hi.

Rhonda - I noticed you and your girl earlier.

Jack - Yeah.

Rhonda - You make a cute couple.

Jack - Thank you.

Rhonda - So how come she went home with that other gentleman?

Jack - Well, that's no gentleman. That was her husband.

Rhonda - (starts laughing) I like a guy with a sense of humor.

Jack - (with a flirtatious tone) You do, huh?

Rhonda - I bet you're a lot more fun than that uptight yuppie your girl went home with. (I think Jack liked that comment) You should have her wrapped around your finger, Jack.

Jack - Yeah, well.. (gets up) Listen, no one wraps Jennifer around his finger. She's her own
woman.

Rhonda - (gets up too) Ooh. You love her, don't you? Hmm?

Jack - Yeah, I do.

Rhonda - So go get her!

Jack - I just told you she's married. It's too late.

Rhonda - It's never too late. Love's a funny thing, Jack. I know a lot about it.

Jack - (smiles) Really.

Rhonda - Yeah, yeah. You're thinking I must be pretty jaded about love but... I'm not. The
way I see it.... as long as you're breathing, there's still hope. Don't give up, Jack.

[Rhonda walks away. Then 2 guys start speaking louder and Jack eavesdrops in on their
conversation]

Guy # 1 - I wonder what Peter Blake was doing here.

Guy # 2 - I don't know. It's just like him to go home with the most beautiful babe. And that
Peter, that guy's got a way with the women.

Jack - (casually joins in) Hey, so you guys know Peter Blake.

Guy # 1 - (plays dumb) Who?

Jack - Peter Blake.

Guy # 2 - Never heard of him.

Jack - I just heard you mention his name. You were talking about him.

Guy # 1 - You heard wrong.

[They walk away, leaving Jack wondering what that was all about]

-----------------------------

[Jenn and Peter are at home now, sitting on the couch and having a glass of champagne.
Jenn's back to normal, without her wig and dress. Jack walks in the front door]

Jack - Hi!

Jenn - Jack! How'd you get out of jail?!

Jack - Arnie bailed me out.

Peter - So of course you just came right over, huh?

Jack - Well, it's my house. Where else would I spend the night? I thought you two were on
your honeymoon.

Peter - We are.

[Jack raises his eyebrows. He's so funny here. He casually walks over to them, pulls up a
chair next to them and grabs some food from the table that Jenn and Peter were eating. Then
he looks straight at Peter and Jenn]

Jack - Well, in that case....... Happy Honeymoon!

[Jennifer and Peter stare at Jack, visibly annoyed. But Jack just looks at them and smiles]
