Jack has just interrupted Jennifer and Peter's wedding rehearsal.
Peter -- I knew you'd pull something like this. If you don't get out of here this second I'm going to throw you out.
Jennifer holds Peter back. The Reverend scolds Peter. Jack just stands there and doesn't make a move. Laura tries to make her way over to Jack. Mike stops her. Peter, once again tells Jack to leave.
Jack -- Not until I say what I have to say. Reverend, if I have a reason why these two shouldn't be married, you have to hear it, right?
Reverend -- Yes, I do.
Peter -- Whatever it is you can be sure it's a lie.
Jennifer -- Just let him say what it is and then we can get on with the rehearsal, okay.
Reverend -- Why are you objecting to the wedding of Jennifer and Peter?
Jack -- Why? Why? I'll tell you. It's simple. Because I think the bride really does not want to marry this man.
Jennifer just stands there with a blank expression on her face. There is a pause until the reverend asks if there is any truth to Jack's claims.
Jennifer -- (without hesitation) Absolutely not.
Jennifer may have responded quickly but she was not very animated in her response. Jack is not convinced. Peter explains that Jack is being selfish as he is an ex-husband.
Jack -- No. No. No, it isn't. You see at first, I thought that if I could prove that Peter was a lowlife, that Jennifer would just dump him. But I realize that I don't have to do that now because the bride herself is having doubts about marrying Peter.
Jennifer tries to argue. Jack won't hear it.
Jack -- No, you may say that you don't have them but the only reason you are marrying him is because you haven't forgiven me.
Peter speaks for Jen and brings up Jack's abandonment of Jen and Abby. Jack admits that he was wrong and made a mistake but he has also proven that he has changed. Peter disagrees. Jennifer is silent.
Jack -- Just ask yourself if you had any doubts when you married me and ask yourself why you are having these doubts now. I'll tell you why. It's because you still love me and you always will.
Peter speaks for Jen once again. She doesn't look Peter in the eyes. But she does stare at Jack. Finally, she speaks.
Jennifer -- My ex-husband is wrong. I want everyone to know that I love Peter.
Jack still does not want to leave and Kristen implores John to escort Jack out. John tells Jack to let her go. Jack can not.
The rehearsal never continues. Peter tells her to forget everything Jack has said. Instead, she remembers a time they shared at the Horton cabin in the summer.
Jude arrives in Aremid and Peter wants him to get any and as much dirt on Jack Deveraux that he can find. Jude almost overhears that Jack and Laura had an affair. But Jude is getting close.
Hope arrives in Aremid and quickly takes on some bridesmaid responsibilities. She wants to make sure that Jen is not making a mistake. Jack remains at Peter's house to shoot footage for the show.
Peter -- Jack, still here I see.
Jack -- Yep. I'm on assignment for the show. I certainly didn't come here for your hospitality, Pete.
Peter purposely grabs Jen and hugs and kisses her for the video, which hurts Jack deeply. When the women leave the room, Peter brings up the fact that Jack might have some secrets. Jack gets uncomfortable and quickly leaves. Peter has no doubt that there is a dirty secret that will turn Jen against Jack for good.
Jack tells Hope that he is certain that Jen is coming around. Hope agrees.
Peter and Jennifer are thinking about their nuptials tomorrow when Peter gets the call from Jude. He has something that is bigger than they ever dreamed.
Jack is giddy as he is telling Laura that the wedding is not going to happen. Laura, on the other hand, is upset that she will have no future with Jack. She runs off when Mike interrupts. Jack begins to figure out that Laura still has feelings for him and feels extremely guilty.
Jennifer, in the meantime, is forcing herself to concentrate on Peter. Hope has a heart to heart with Jen and forces her to be honest with herself. Hope's words have moved Jennifer so much that she is thinking of postponing the wedding. When Peter gets wind of this, he methodically schemes to expose Jack and Laura's affair.
By this time, Jack has made his way to Laura's room at the Red Dragon Inn and confronts her about her feelings. She breaks down and confesses that she still loves him. He is so overcome with guilt that he takes a weeping Laura into his arms to comfort her. Jude overhears that Jack and Laura are together in her room and calls Peter.
Jennifer returns from a walk and Peter is very eager to talk to her. He thinks that talking to her mother will help her make a decision on the wedding.
Peter -- The two of you are close and you trust her. This can't wait. You have to work this out now. I really think seeing your mother is going to help make your decision.
Jennifer -- Alright, I'll go.
She kisses him and walks out the door. She quickly returns and asks Peter to accompany her.
At the inn, Jack and Laura are trying to come to terms with her feelings. Jack leaves momentarily but returns as Laura can't control her pain. She tries to push him away but he won't let her. Ever the good man, Jack apologizes and gives her a shoulder to cry on.
Peter waits downstairs as Jen goes to talk to Laura. When Jen makes it to the door, she just doesn't have the heart to knock, just in case Laura is sleeping. Jack and Laura are still inside talking. Jennifer decides to go back downstairs. Peter can see that she hasn't interrupted Jack and Laura and pushes her to go back upstairs to talk. Unfortunately, Laura has accidentally spilled some coffee on Jack. He takes off his vest and shirt. His pants are stained but he does not remove any more clothing. Because Laura is still upset, Jack offers stay until she can get to sleep. She gets into bed and he wraps his naked arms around her as Jen and Peter walk up the stairs.
Jennifer is about to get the shock of her life.
