This is an episode, from August 18, 1997, when Jack goes home (for a few hours) to say "goodbye", after being sentenced back to prison. It's a really sad episode too.

Scene opens with Jack & Jennifer standing near the back of the courtroom, hugging each other. They have just heard the judge sentence Jack back to prison. Laura, Maggie, Mickey, Hope and Franco are sadly watching Jack & Jennifer console each other.
Mickey - Jack?
Jennifer releases herself from Jack's hug. She still stands next to him and is holding his hand.
Mickey - The D.A. He will allow you to go home to ahh... to say your "goodbyes."
Jack (kind of smiles -- although he's visibly sad) - Right.... so how much time do I have, Mickey?
Mickey (quietly) - Well, it's only ahh... only a few hours.
Jennifer (gasps from shock) - Damn Stefano and Kristen! We should go back in there and force them to tell the truth!
Jack moves closer to Jennifer, still holding her hand. He looks directly into her eyes.
Jack - Jenn, they won't. I don't want to spend the last hours of my freedom just begging the DiMera's for my life. I want to spend them with the people that I love. Come on. Let's go home.
Jack puts his arm around Jennifer and they walk out of the courtroom. Everyone watches them walk away and they all look so sad for Jack & Jenn. Then they leave the courtroom too.
Next scene, Jack, Jennifer and the "gang" arrive at Jenn's place to say their "goodbyes" to Jack. One wonders why Jack, Jennifer and Abby couldn't have some time alone to say goodbye to each other.... Travis is standing outside, lurking behind a bush, watching as the whole "gang" arrives home.
Travis (thinks to himself with a shocked look on his face) - They're back. Why is Jack with them if Stefano promised me that he'd go back to jail?
The "gang" walks into Jenn's home. Alice is sitting on the couch and they all say hi to her. Jack sits down on the couch next to Alice. Alice grabs hold of Jack's hand, and Jack puts his other hand on Alice's hand. Jenn sits next to Jack. They still look very sad, obviously.
Alice (smiling) - Jack! I knew you'd be freed.
Jack (says sadly and puts his hand on Alice's shoulder to console her) - No, Alice. I'm only here for a few hours just to say my last goodbyes.
Alice (shocked) - What happened?
Laura - Stefano and Kristen lied. Neither of them admitted that Peter is alive.
Jennifer is consoling Jack by stroking his back.
Jack (sadly) - I'm going back to prison for the rest of my life.
Jennifer puts her hand around Jack's shoulder and begins to hug him. Jack looks like he's sad and kind of in shock. He turns around and puts his arms around Jennifer and hugs her.
Travis is standing outside near the window, eavedropping on the family's conversation. He looks very happy. BTW, don't ask me how he can hear an entire conversation through a window ...
Travis (says to himself) - I never should have doubted Stefano.
Next scene, Travis is still outside lurking behind that bush. He is peeking through the curtains and looking at everybody inside. Jack & Jennifer are now standing at the front of the living room, facing each other, and having a private conversation -- well, not that private, since Travis is listening to them. Jack has his hands on Jennifer's hands and his tone of voice sounds very serious and worried.
Jack - Listen, Jenn, I don't mean to frighten ya. But you have to start thinking about your safety - - yours and Abby's.
Jennifer - Mom is here and Mike is here most of the time...
Jack nods his head but he doesn't look reassured at all.
Jennifer - ... and I have this new security system that the neighbour installed, Jack. He says it's state of the art.
Jack - Jenn, my ex-cellmate told me that anyone could crack one of those alarm systems if they knew what they're doing.
Travis (says to himself looking very happy and proud) - That's right, Jack. And I know what I'm doing. I installed the system.
Jennifer (has tears in her eyes, but sounds serious) - Well, you should meet Trent and talk to him about the system then. I'll call him...
Jennifer walks away to use the phone. Jack turns around to face the rest of the people in the living room. He takes a deep breath and looks like he's trying to remain strong for Jennifer. But he looks worried.
Alice - Well, I'm sure Abe and John will find Peter. They captured Stefano.
Laura's listening to Alice but does not look reassured. She has a very worried and sad look on her face.
Laura to Alice (but not looking at her) - Maybe too easily...
Hope is sitting on the couch next to Franco.
Hope - You know, I've been thinking about that too, Laura. Stefano wouldn't let John just walk in and arrest him.
Mickey - Then why didn't Stefano accept the plea bargain offered to him? I mean, he could have been out in ten years instead of spending the rest of his life in jail.
Alice - Well, what do you think it all means?
Hope - Could only mean one thing -- Stefano's up to something.
Laura - And that means we're all still in danger.
Next scene, Jennifer's on the phone with Travis. Jennifer tells "Trent" that Jack's appeal has been turned down and he's going back to prison. "Trent" tells Jennifer "that's too bad" but he's smiling. Jennifer invites "Trent" to the house because she wants him to meet Jack. He says he can't right now, but he'll try to come by later. Later -- like tomorrow, when Jack's not there, right? ;-) Jennifer hangs up the phone. She looks very sad and kind of in shock. She's trying to hold back the tears.
Jennifer walks towards Laura and Laura consoles Jennifer by putting her hand on Jennifer's arm.
Jennifer to Jack (who is standing a fair distance away from her) - He's gonna try to come by later.
Jack (sounds very serious) - Good. I'd like to meet him. You seem to trust him.
Jennifer - Yeah, he's been really helpful.
Franco - Jennifer, if you ever need anything, just call me. I'll come right over.
Jennifer (still looks really sad) - Thanks Franco.
Jack - Thanks Franco.
Franco - Hey, no problem.
Jack - Hey, Hope, I'm sorry I'm not going to be able to get to Rome to find out what's really going on with Bo.
Hope smiles to reassure Jack.
Hope - Jack, it's alright. You wouldn't have found out anything I don't already know. Bo and Billie are married. He loves her and ahh... any hope I had of a life with him is over.
Next scene, Jack is standing at one side of the living room, all by himself. He's writing down some stuff on a notepad. Jennifer has her arms folded and walks over towards Jack. She looks like she's trying to keep herself from crying.
Jennifer - What's that?
Jack - Oh, it's just... it's just a list I made if things didn't go my way.
Jennifer (seems confused) - A list of what?
Jack (trying to sound serious and composed, but looks like he is trying to hold back his tears) - Ahh... it's just things to make sure that you and Abby are taken care of while I'm gone. I arranged for someone to come by and to make periodic repairs to check the heating and electricity and the water heater. And I called some ummm... ballet schools. Abby said she wanted to take dance lessons...
Jennifer (whispers) - No, Jack...
Jennifer can't hold back her tears anymore and she runs outside. Jack looks really sad and takes a deep breath. He can't stand to see Jennifer in so much pain.
Jennifer is standing outside on the porch by herself. She is crying. Jack walks outside and sees her there. He has a few tears in his eyes. He walks towards her to speak to her, her back still facing him.
Jack - Jenn, what is it?
Jennifer - The list you made..
Jack - Look, I'm only trying to help. I don't really know....
Jennifer (crying) - Jack, I don't need a list! (she turns around to face him with tears in her eyes) I need you.
Jack (speaks quietly and has tears in his eyes) - No... I want you to find somebody else.
Jennifer (crying) - NO!
Jack - Jenn, look...
Jennifer (almost crying like a child) - I'm never gonna love anybody else.
Travis is still lurking behind the bush and looks really happy when he hears Jennifer crying about losing Jack.
Jack - Jenn, you have to move on. You can't just sit around here..
Jennifer puts her arms around Jack and hugs him...
Jennifer (crying) - Jack, just stop. Just hold me.
Jack puts his arms around Jennifer and looks so sad. He's holding back from crying with her, trying to remain strong. But it's obvious from the look on his face that it's killing him to see her in such pain. The sound of a car driving up can be heard in the distance. Jack looks towards the police car and has a very disappointed and sad look on his face. Jennifer has tears streaming down her cheek and is also looking at the car and the officer who is walking towards them. The officer shows up with handcuffs.
Officer - Jack Deveraux. It's time to go.
Jack has his arm around Jennifer, resting on her shoulder. He strokes her back. Jennifer puts her hand on Jack's shoulder so they're almost hugging. They are both facing the officer.
Jennifer to officer - No..
Jack - Look, could you just hold off on the 'cuffs until I say goodbye to my daughter?
Officer - Sure.
Jennifer is hiding her head by resting it against Jack's shoulder. She looks like she's crying. Jack & Jennifer walk into the house still holding each other in their arms. Travis is still standing outside, hiding behind the bush, and looks extremely happy.
Jack & Jennifer walk into the house. Abby is standing near the couch next to Maggie and Alice. Abby is really smiling and runs towards him.
Abby - Daddy, look, I lost another tooth.
Jack bends down so he can speak face to face with Abby. He smiles to reassure her.
Jack - Yeah, we're gonna have to make sure that the tooth fairy finds out about that, huh?
Abby - Mmm hhhh...
Jack (has tears in his eyes. He pauses for a moment) - Goodbye, sweetheart.
Abby - Goodbye Daddy.
Jack puts his arms around Abby and hugs her. Jennifer is watching Jack saying goodbye to Abby and is silently crying. Laura is standing next to Jennifer, consoling her.
Next scene, Jennifer is now holding Abby in her arms. Jack is standing very close to them. Jack & Jennifer both have tears in their eyes.
Jack - Hey, I'm gonna make sure the tooth fairy finds out about that tooth of yours, okay?
Jack strokes Abby's hair and cheeks, holding back tears.
Abby (crying) - I love you, Daddy. Please don't go.
Jack (tears in his eyes) - I have to, sweetheart. I'll call you as soon as I can. I love you so much.
He gives Abby a kiss on the cheek. Laura takes Abby in her arms so Jack & Jennifer can say their goodbyes to each other. Jack & Jennifer are standing close to each other looking directly into each other's eyes.
Jennifer - Jack, I will never stop believing that we'll be together. (starts to cry) And I will never stop loving you.
Jennifer puts her arms around Jack and hugs him. Jack doesn't say anything. He has tears in his eyes and seems like he's trying to keep from crying too. He strokes her back.
Jack - I love you... (Jennifer releases herself from the hug to look directly at Jack)
Jack (he smiles through his tears and continues) - ....so much
Jennifer continues to cry and begins to hug him again. They look so sad -- it's making me want to cry :-(
Officer - Mr. Deveraux...
Jack and Jennifer continue to hug for a couple more seconds, ignoring the officer. Finally, they let go of each other. Jack takes a deep breath and looks at Jennifer for the last time before he leaves. He walks towards the officer. He is clearly overwhelmed with sadness but is trying to remain very strong for Jennifer and Abby's sake. Jack turns around to face everybody in the house. Maggie is holding Abby in her arms. Laura, Mickey and Alice are standing there too. Everyone has very sad looks on their faces. Jack doesn't say anything, but he has so much sadness in his eyes. He turns around and the officer, holding Jack's arm, walks with him out of the house. (BTW, this is the very last time that Mark's Jack was in that house. The only time, after that scene, when Mark's Jack was in that house was during flashbacks and dream sequences). Jennifer watches Jack leave the house and she begins to cry. Laura sees Jennifer in so much pain and walks towards her to give her a hug. Jennifer cries in Laura's arms. The scene ends. End of show.
