Jack is outside in the backyard sanding a chair.  He is home from prison, pending the outcome of his second appeal.  Jennifer is walking into the backyard and looks concerned...
 

Jack -- Hey, Jenn.  Look what I found in the....
 

[Jack notices Jennifer looking worried and interrupts himself, looking concerned]
 

Jack -- What's wrong?
 

Jennifer -- Mom just called from the hospital.  And uh... Kristen showed up at the church with Roman.  He's alive.
 

Jack [smiling] -- No, that's impossible.  You went to his funeral.  The guy's gotta be an imposter.  It's one of DiMera's tricks.
 

Jennifer -- No, no.  Jack, they confirmed it.  It's really Roman.  Kristen found him in some hospital in the Carribean.
 

Jack -- Then she brought him to John and Marlena's wedding?
 

Jennifer [looks stunned] -- Yeah.  Just in time to ruin it.  John and Marlena didn't get married.
 

[Jack stares off into space and looks very worried.  Why?  I don't know!  Since when have Jack & Jennifer been concerned about John and Marlena's love life????  Maybe it's because Jack hinted that he was going to propose marriage to Jennifer when they were at J & M's wedding.  And now that he hears that J & M's wedding has been postponed because of the DiMera's, it has given Jack less hope about his future with Jennifer.  Just my guess.]
 

[Scene ends]
 

Jack [sounds fed up] -- Well, the DiMera's certainly are experts at bringing people back from the dead, aren't they?
 

Jennifer -- Yes.  Which I think is just more proof that Peter's alive.
 

Jack [doesn't sound like he believes her] -- Maybe... You said Roman was ill?
 

Jennifer -- Yeah, mom says he has a real serious bacterial infection.
 

Jack -- So he's at the hospital.
 

Jennifer -- No!  He refused to go to the hospital.  He's at Kristen's.  John and Marlena are staying with him.
 

Jack -- Why didn't they just take him over to Marlena's?
 

Jennifer -- I don't know.  I guess Kristen's is better suited to his needs.  There's more room there.
 

Jack -- That can't be easy on Marlena.  Nor John, for that matter.
 

Jennifer -- No.  I know.  Well, I guess their concern for Roman takes precedence over their feelings about Kristen.  And what she has done.  I still can't believe all the hideous things she's done.  Letting you go to prison knowing that Peter was alive.  Drugging my mother.   Locking Marlena in that room.  All the while acting like she was my friend.
 

Jack -- Jenn, all that's over now.
 

Jennifer -- Well, she still managed to keep John and Marlena from getting married.  [Jennifer's voice becomes more loving and she gives Jack a loving expression]  And it's just not right to keep two people, who love each other, apart.
 

[Jack smiles at Jennifer, knowing she is referring to her own relationship with him.  But he decides to switch subjects, clearly not wanting to get close to Jennifer.  He turns around and points to a chair]
 

Jack -- Hey...  Take a look at what I found in the garage.  I think I'm gonna sand it up and paint it for Abby.
 

Jennifer -- Looks great.  She's gonna love that.  [Jack nods his head and agrees.  He's looking at the chair and not at Jennifer]  But don't you think we can do that tomorrow?  I mean, it's late.
 

Jack -- Nah, I wanna get it done.
 

Jennifer [concerned voice] -- You've hardly slept since you got out of prison.
 

Jack -- I know.  I just don't want to waste a second.  I mean, in case I....
 

Jennifer -- Jack, you're not going back to prison.  We're gonna prove that Peter is alive and you're gonna be found innocent.
 

Jack -- If I am.
 

Jennifer -- You will be!
 

[Jack moves closer towards Jennifer and kind of smiles]
 

Jack -- Jenn, there's something else that I've been thinking about.  Something that I really wanna do...
 

[Jennifer smiles clearly thinking Jack is referring to his relationship with her.  Maybe she's thinking he's going to propose marriage?] 
 

Jennnifer -- What's that?
 

Jack -- I wanna write an expose on the prison system.
 

[Jennifer's expression on her face says "Excuse me?!  That's not exactly what I thought you were going to tell me you wanted to do."  She just says, "Mmm.."  Jack notices Jenn's disappointment]
 

Jack -- Look, Jenn, I'm sorry.  You know how I feel about you.  I just don't wanna make a commitment until I know for certain that I'm not going back to prison.  I couldn't bear losing you again.
 

[Jennifer reaches over and puts her arms around Jack.  Jack hugs her back and they share a warm embrace.  Travis is now seen lurking behind the bushes watching the couple.]
 

Travis [thinking to himself] -- All that time I spent convincing Jack to let Jenn and Abby go because he'd be in prison for life.  And now, here he is with her.  Maybe for good.  Damn!!
 

[Next scene, Jack & Jennifer are still embracing each other.  Jack releases himself from Jennifer and looks at her.]
 

Jack -- Jenn, I'm sorry...
 

Jennifer -- Jack, you know you don't have to hide your feelings from me.
 

Jack -- Yeah, but it's just being back here with you and Abby, it just means so much to me, Jenn.  And then, when I think that it can just be taken away, it just.....

[he starts to sound mad about his life.  He turns around and walks away.  His back is now facing Jennifer]
 

Jennifer --  Jack, you're going to be set free!!  And you and Abby and I are gonna be a family again.  [She places her hand on his arm and says to him lovingly]  But, this time, it's gonna be forever.
 

[Jack turns around and hugs Jennifer again]
 
 

Jack [as he's hugging Jennifer]  -- I love you...
 

Jennifer [says quietly, with her eyes closed and her head leaning against Jack's shoulder] -- I love you too...
 

[She releases herself from her embrace with Jack.  She puts a smile on her face, glad to know the reason why Jack is holding back his feelings for her]
 

Jennifer -- Okay..... So... tell me about this expose that you want to write.
 

[Travis is watching them talking and looks very concerned]
 

Jack -- Alright.  So anyway, I want to do an in-depth profile of the prison system.  When I was there, there were so many inefficiencies.  There's problems with corruption, abuses... I wish I could find my ex-cellmate, Travis.  He'd be a big help with this.
 

[Travis looks shocked that Jack wants to find him.  He leaves.]
 
 

[Next scene, Travis storms into Stefano's office, against Bart's wishes (Bart being one of Stefano's henchman).]
 

Bart -- Mr. DiMera, I tried to stop him!
 

Travis [pointing at Stefano and yells] -- Look!  You stalled long enough, Stefano!!!
 

Stefano [stands up from his seat] -- What the hell is this?
 

Travis -- I went to prison to watch Jack because I knew you'd get me out.  And I don't mind keeping an eye on Jennifer.  Okay?  But you promised me Jack wouldn't get out of jail.  Yet, here he is.  Living with her!  Getting closer to her every day!
 

Stefano [containing his anger, and sounds calm] -- I will take care of Jack.
 

Travis [interrupts Stefano] -- No!  You screwed up.  And you'll do it again.  You can't be trusted.
 

[Stefano has the most evil look on his face.  His blood is boiling but he doesn't say anything.. yet.]
 

[Next scene, Jack is painting the chair again.  He gets up to speak to Jennifer, who's watching him.]
 

Jack -- You know, I wonder where Peter is hiding out these days.
 

Jennifer -- Well, Abe and Interpol both have people working for him though.  There's no leads.
 

Jack -- Stefano's made quite a few mistakes lately.  All his plots to capture Marlena have failed.  Maybe he's not as infallible as he used to be.
 

Jennifer -- What are you thinking?
 

Jack -- Well, I'm thinking maybe it would be possible to get someone inside the DiMera organization.  I'm going to talk to John and see if he has some ideas.
 

[Next scene]
 

Jennifer -- Well you said your ex-cellmate had all sorts of connections.  Maybe he knows someone within Stefano's organization.
 

Jack -- No.. no.  If he did, he would have helped me instead of trying to convince me that I was going to be in prison for the rest of my life.
 

Jennifer -- Well, he was wrong.
 

Jack [nods his head to agree]  -- I'd like to prove it to him.  How?
 

Jennifer -- We will, Jack.
 

[Jack bends his head down and doesn't look as convinced as Jennifer]
 

Jennifer -- Look, it's late and you should get some rest.
 

Jack -- I think I want to stay out her for a while.
 

Jennifer -- Okay.  Do you want a beer?
 

Jack [smiles] -- Yeah, that would be great.  Thanks.
 

[Jennifer exits the backyard to go to the kitchen.  Jack walks towards the hammock and lies down.  He yawns and looks tired.]
 

Jack [to himself] -- How can I prove that Travis was wrong?
 

[Scene ends.  Next scene is Travis and Stefano in the office]
 

Stefano [says with an evil tone to Travis] -- How dare you come in here and challenge my authority?!   You'll do exactly as I say.
 

Travis [disgusted] --  Yeah, well, none of your plans are working.  You got me living right next door to Jack.  If he recognizes me, I'll go to prison for real.
 

Stefano -- I'll protect you.
 

Travis -- Forget it.  I'm tired of putting my neck out....
 

Stefano [evil shout] -- YOU WILL!!  You'll do exactly as I say and you'll follow the plan.   Because if you don't, I will see to it that you go back to jail.  [Stefano says with an evil tone]  For life!
 

[Travis looks furious but kind of nervous too.  He know when Stefano says something, he means business.  Scene ends.]
 

[Next scene, Travis is back in Jack & Jennifer's backyard again.  He is tip-toeing around, near the window to Jenn's house thinking Jack & Jennifer are back inside.  Little does he know that Jack is lying outside in the hammock, half asleep.]
 

Travis [to himself] -- Where's Jack?  He must be upstairs with Abby.
 

[Jack opens his eyes a bit after hearing noises in the backyard]
 

Jack -- Jenn?
 

[Jack leans over to look around the bushes and sees his good 'buddy' Travis standing near the window, looking inside the house.  Jack looks very surprised and raises himself up further to get a better look.  "Travis," Jack asks himself.  Scene ends.  End of episode]
