This is an episode summary of a show from August 19, 1996. The summary was transcribed by Sandra...

This episode is the episode which follows Jack & Laura's "session" with each other, after Jack dumped Sharon. In that "session" episode, Laura was trying to help him stop 'obsessing' over (or how about 'appreciating' ;-)) Jennifer. That didn't seem to work. The first scene begins with Jack sitting outside Jenn's house on the steps of the porch. He is wearing beige-colored slacks, a white long-sleeved shirt and tie. He looks great in those lighter colors. Laura is coming home from the hospital and notices Jack sitting there looking all sad and lonely.

Laura - "Well, good evening!"

Jack (looks up to notice Laura) - "Hey, Laura. Long day at the hospital, huh?"

Laura (sits down on the porch next to Jack, sounding happy) - "I had some late sessions."

Jack (looking down at the porch and seems very sad) - "Mmm."

Laura - "What are you doing out here so late?"

Jack (looks at Laura and then begins to stand up) - "Oh? Uh... well, (stands up and says very bitterly, with his back to Laura) ... Peter and Jennifer are in there cuddled up in front of the tv set and it made me a little nauseous. So I thought I'd come out here for some fresh air." (LOL!)

Laura (walking towards Jack) - "Oh! I can see our therapy session didn't work."

Jack (looking down at the ground, still with his back towards Laura, says very sadly) - "No. No, nothing.... seems to work. I don't think I'm ever gonna get over Jennifer."

Laura - "Yes, you will. It just doesn't feel like it."

Jack (long pause and then turns to face Laura) - "You know maybe... maybe I could move on if she were with anyone other than him. But he's corrupt Laura -- if I could just prove it. (Laura's about to say something, but Jack interrupts and continues) I ran a trace -- I had Bo run a trace on Daniel Scott."

Laura (looks at him with a shocked look on her face) - "You are tenacious, friend."

Jack (looks at Laura for a second, then continues) - "Yes! Daniel and Peter were in cahoots. I think Daniel had some damaging information on Peter. That's why he disappeared so suddenly."

Laura (smiling and looking surprised) - "You thought that.... Peter had killed Daniel. But I got a letter saying that he was in Europe..."

Jack (interrupts and sounds very determined) - "Right! And guess where else he was -- California! (Laura looks down at ground and kind of confused) That's... that's where Bo had traced him. That's the last that anyone has seen or heard from him either."

Laura (sarcastic smile) - "Well, at least he's alive. (sounds very mad) So you can't continue to accuse Peter of being a murderer."

Jack - "No, but he's done other things, Laura. I know it. If I could just prove it. It's the only way that I'm gonna get that creep away from Jennifer!"

Laura takes a deep breath and looks at Jack with a compassionate look on her face. She consoles him by stroking his arm. (Bet she probably wants to 'comfort' him in other ways -- knowing the way she acted in that previous "session" episode ;-). Scene ends.)

Very next scene, Peter is standing in the darkened living room all by himself. He is talking to himself looking very worried and concerned.

Peter (speaking very quietly) - "I was gonna wait until the morning to take care of Daniel, but there's too much at stake. (voice gets even quieter) I've gotta take care of it right now."

Peter turns around and looks at the door and then walks to the phone to call Daniel. Daniel asks Peter what he wants.

Peter (sounding very serious and talking quietly) - "I want to meet you tonight."

Daniel - "I thought you wanted to wait until tomorrow...."

Peter (sounding very serious) - "Yeah, well, I changed my mind. I'm gonna pay you off and the sooner you're out of Salem, the better. I'm warning you Daniel! You do what I say or you'll regret it! Do you understand?"

Daniel (nodding to agree, sounding really nervous) - "I understand, Peter. I'll do whatever you say."

Peter (still speaking quietly) - "You better! (long pause) If you wanna get out of town alive." Scene ends.

Next scene. Peter has put on a jacket to go out. He opens a briefcase in the living room and we see wads of cash in it. He thinks to himself, "This should be more than enough to get rid of Daniel for good. He can leave Salem tonight, taking his proof against me with him. Then nothing can threaten my life with Jennifer." He closes the briefcase and picks it up. Scene ends.

Next scene. Jack is still outside, standing on the porch with his back towards Laura, and looking sad. He is carrying his suit Jacket on his arm and still looks so handsome (just thought I'd mention that again! LOL!) Laura walks up to him, but Jack still isn't facing her.

Laura (quietly) - "Now that you know that Peter didn't murder Daniel, you can drop all this."

Jack - "No, he wasn't murdered last summer. But there's still no trace of him since September."

Laura (sounds worried, and says quietly) - "Jack, are you really convinced that Peter could kill someone?"

Jack (turns around to face Laura) - "Laura, he was raised by Stefano DiMera. He worked for him, he took orders from the man. Don't you think he got his hands just a little bit dirty?"

Laura (pauses to think and then says quietly) - "I'm sure there were a lot of things that Peter did in the past that he's not very proud of. (raises her voice a bit) But he broke all ties with Stefano when he met Jennifer. (Laura pauses and looks at Jack) I'm sure you can understand this. (pauses and sounds more quiet again. Jack is listening and looks upset as she says this) He loves Jenn very much. And I believe that that love has changed him..."

Jack (interrupts Laura and sounds bitter) - "Yeah, well, men like Peter don't change." (Jack looks down at ground)

Laura - "That's what people said about you."

Jack looks up at Laura with a surprised look on his face. I guess he didn't expect to hear that comment from her. He seems a bit offended since it couldn't be flattering to hear himself compared to someone he considers a "creep" ;-)

Laura (sounds more compassionate) - "Oh, Jack. I'm not trying to hurt you. (starting to get teary-eyed) I just want you to look at this.... situation more objectively."

Jack (tries to sound determined, but it's obvious he is very sad about not being with Jennifer) - "I ... I think I'm being very objective, Laura."

Laura looks at him completely surprised that he doesn't "get it". She turns her face away from him and rolls her eyes.

Laura (starting to sound fed up with Jack, and says quietly) - "You know, if you don't let go of your feelings for Jennifer, you're never gonna be happy."

Jack (turns to face Laura) - "Laura, I can't let go of my feelings for Jennifer, the same way that I can't let go of the feeling that Peter is somehow.... rotten. I ... I just have to prove it."

A sound of a car driving away quickly can be heard. Jack follows the car with his eyes.

Jack (there's that suspicious sound in his voice again - LOL!) - "Is.... isn't that Peter's car?" (Laura has her arms folded and looks completely fed up with Jack. She has a slight sarcastic smile on her face) Where's he going this time of night?"

Laura - "Maybe he had to get something at the store! (pauses to look at Jack who is not paying attention to her) Will you stop being so suspicious!"

Jack (looks at Laura) - "Oh, of Peter? Never!" (Jack starts to walk away)

Laura - "Where are you going?"

Jack (turns to Laura) - "I'm following him!" (He gives Laura a wink, puts on his suit jacket, and quickly walks away. LOL! He's so funny!)

Laura looks completely shocked. She's about to call out Jack's name to stop him, but then stops herself. I guess she figured it made no sense to try convincing him to stop his "proving Peter's rotten" crusade!

Next scene, Laura is in the living room and says to herself that she should have stopped Jack from following Peter. Jennifer comes downstairs and is wearing her gold-colored silk nightgown and silk housecoat. Laura asks Jennifer what she's doing up so late. Jennifer says she woke up and noticed Peter still hadn't returned to bed. And then she remarks that it's strange how Peter said he was just going to make some phone calls and come back to bed. And now she realizes he's left the house. Laura tells Jennifer that she saw Peter's car leaving. Jenn says it's strange how Peter didn't tell her he was going out. Laura tries to ease Jenn's confusion by saying that Peter probably went to the store and didn't want to disturb Jennifer. Jenn agrees with Laura and says she's going to wait up for Peter and make some tea for herself. Jennifer then turns around, as she's going to the kitchen, and says to Laura that she bets Peter is planning one of his great surprises for her and that's why he didn't tell her he was going out. When Jenn has left the room, Laura has a worried look on her face and says to herself (in her mind) that she hopes Jennifer is right and that Jack is wrong about everything, for Jennifer's sake. Laura doesn't admit however that she hopes Jack's wrong about Peter for her (Laura's) sake too -- because that would give her an opportunity to be with Jack - LOL!

Next scene, Jack is walking in the park all by himself trying to search for, and spy on Peter.

Jack (to himself, looking around the park for signs of Peter) - "Peter was moving pretty fast. I think that was his car coming in here. (he looks up at sky) He must be meeting someone. But who? Where?"

Next scene. Peter is talking to Daniel in the park. Peter is about to give Daniel the bribe money. But he says that before he gives the money to Daniel he wants to make one thing perfectly clear -- he wants Daniel to stay away from him for good and to leave the country permanently. Daniel says he wouldn't mind moving to a beach condo. in South America. Peter responds that Daniel shouldn't "set his sights too high". And he also says that this is the last time he'll be giving Daniel any more money. He asks if Daniel understands. Daniel says he does.

Peter - "Understand this: If I even hear a rumor that you're anywhere near Salem, (pauses) wherever you are, is where you'll be buried. Are we clear?"

Daniel (looks quite nervous) - "Very clear. The money?" Peter looks at Daniel. Scene ends.

Very next scene, Jack is still walking aimlessly around the park and has obviously not heard any part of Peter and Daniel's conversation. He looks like he's kind of fed up that he can't find Peter anywhere. Poor Jack! If only he heard that conversation between Daniel and Peter. How many times did Jack miss these great opportunities to catch Peter?! Hundreds of times! LOL! This show just keeps going in circles with these stories....

Next scene, Peter is about to give the briefcase full of money over to Daniel when they hear a rustling nearby. Peter quickly turns around to check this and goes "Who's that? (to Daniel) The last thing I need is to be spotted with you." Daniel and Peter go and look through the bushes to investigate who it is. They peak through the bushes and notice a man standing there -- in the middle of the night, no less -- with his back turned towards them. The man turns around and "Ta Da!" --- It's Jack! Too funny! Peter screams quietly "It's Jack!" and him and Daniel run away at lightening speed. Of course, after they have run off, Jack conveniently walks in two seconds later and has completely missed seeing them. So what else is new in Salem?! He has no clue that Daniel and Peter were just there two seconds ago. He stands there with his hands on his waist and looks like he about ready to give up his search. Scene ends.

Next scene, Jack is still walking aimlessly in the park, looking for Peter.

Jack (to himself) - "No sign of Peter. Either I missed him or he wasn't here at all. Damn it! I might as well just go home. Maybe he told Jennifer where he is. Not that he'd tell her the truth anyway." (Jack walks off looking very fed up. Poor Jack! Can't this guy ever get a break?!)

As soon as Jack has left, Daniel and Peter come out of lurking, from behind a bush. They watch Jack walking away in the distance.

Daniel (whispering) - "He doesn't give up, does he?"

Peter (still watching Jack leave) - "No, he doesn't."

Daniel - "No wonder you want me out of town. If he ever found out about what I know about you, and told your wife..."

Peter suddenly lunges at Daniel and grabs him viciously by the tie.

Peter (very viciously, but tries to say it quietly so as not to allow Jack to hear him in the distance) - "Jennifer is NEVER going to find out, IS SHE?"

Daniel (looks petrified) - "You're choking me, Peter!"

Peter (still pulling at Peter's tie and looking directly at him, very close to his face) - "You just remember, Daniel. I will do anything I can to protect my marriage."

Daniel (looking terrified and says quietly) - "You've got nothing to worry about. I'm leaving Salem tonight!"

Peter lets go of Daniel's tie and says "You make sure you do. (points to Daniel and looks vicious) I don't want to ever see your face again. (he turns around to look and see if there are any witnesses) Alright, now I gotta get back before Jack causes more damage." (he gives Daniel the briefcase. Peter runs off. Daniel has a look of satisfaction and relief on his face that he was able to survive that encounter with Peter and get his money. Scene ends.)

Next scene, Jennifer and Laura are sitting on the couch. Jennifer looks nervous and says she wonders what's keeping Peter. Jack opens the front door and walks towards the couch to sit down next to them.

Jack - "Well, it looks like Peter's car's not back yet." (Jack seats himself next to Jennifer on the couch)

Jennifer (sounds very cool) - "Well, he went out."

Jack (turns towards Jennifer and stretches his arm out on the back of the couch, behind where she's sitting. He's really sitting close to her) - "Did he tell you where?"

Jennifer (sounds mad at Jack) - "No, I think he had an errand to run.."

Jack (sarcastically) - "Oh, he had an errand to run! Doesn't that seem a little strange this time of night?"

Jennifer (leans a bit away from Jack, but still looks directly at him) - "You know, Jack, I don't expect Peter to inform me of every move he makes! (Peter begins to enter room from the back door) I trust him completely."

Peter - "I'm glad to hear you say that, Jenn."

Jennifer turns around and notices him. - "Peter! (she walks towards him)

Peter (puts on his fake smile) - "I'm sorry. I didn't realize that... my errand would upset everyone. Otherwise, I would have told you where I was going..."

Jennifer interrupts him - "No, no, no, you don't owe anyone in this room an explanation. (turns around to face Jack, who is standing up from the couch along with Laura) Especially not Jack."

Jack is looking at Jennifer very disappointed that she is so trusting of him. He's probably thinking "there goes Peter again, smooth-talking his way out of this situation" LOL!

Peter - "Well, maybe not Jack, no. But, as long as he's here, we may as well say goodbye to him too."

Jack (says quietly, not sounding the least bit worried) - "Goodbye? What are you talking about?"

Peter (not looking at Jack. He is staring lovingly at Jennifer and smiling at her, while stroking her hair.) - "I arranged a .... little surprise for us."

Jennifer (looking at him with a big smile on her face) - "I knew you were planning a surprise. What is it?" (she is looking very eager and excited to know what it is)

Peter (smiling) - "Well! What have we been planning since before our wedding?"

Jennifer (says very passionately) - "Our honeymoon."

Peter - "That's right. We have been delaying long enough. I say we take-off tonight. I stopped by my office and got our passports out of the safe. (Laura looks completely shocked by this news and turns to Jack to console him. Jack looks at Laura with a shocked and saddened look on his face) ... I alerted the pilot -- he's standing by ready to take us anywhere we want to go in this world. Europe! The Carribean! Anywhere!"

Jennifer looks so happy and excited - "Tonight? Are you serious?"

Peter - "Tonight. I realize it's short notice, Jenn, but.... every time we try and plan something, fate... throws an obstacle in our way. Maybe, just this way... maybe we can catch fate sleeping, huh? What do you think?" (Umm... I think Peter means "Jack" -- not fate! LOL!)

Jennifer - "I think I'm the luckiest woman in the world to be married to you." (She leans over and gives Peter a kiss on the lips. She turns around to Jack & Laura and says very excitedly "Didn't I tell you he was planning a surprise?" Laura smiles back at Jenn and says "Yes, you did." Jack forces a smile on his face although he looks extremely mad and disappointed about this news.

Peter (puts his hands on Jennifer's face and says very quietly) - "So what do you say? Do you want to start our honeymoon tonight?"

Jennifer (smiles) - "I want to start this very instant." (She leans over and they kiss. Jack is watching them and has an intensely jealous and sad look on his face. He turns his eyes away from them and looks like he is almost in tears. Scene ends.)

Next scene, Peter and Jennifer are outside on the porch with their suitcases, ready to go away on their honeymoon. That was quick! They are saying their loving goodbyes to Laura. Jack is standing outside too, at one corner of the porch looking very sad and upset about Jennifer leaving so suddenly. Laura seems very happy for Jennifer and tells her to enjoy her honeymoon with Peter. Hmm.. I guess Laura's thinking she and Jack will have the house all to themselves, except for Abby. Oh geez! I hope she wasn't thinking that she'd attempt to seduce Jack while Abby's in the house. The poor girl would be traumatized if she saw Laura and Jack kissing. But then again, I wouldn't put ANYTHING past Laura - LOL! Jennifer says goodbye to Jack, by waving to him. She doesn't even walk up to him and he doesn't walk up to her. He says goodbye back with a very sad sound to his voice.

Jennifer and Peter leave. Jack watches them go to their car with a very sad look on his face. He looks like he might cry.

Laura (says quietly to Jack, with her hand on his arm) - "I know how you must feel, Jack."

Jack (not looking at Laura) - "Laura, if you don't mind, I'd just like to be alone right now." (In other words, please don't even try, because I'm not going to have you "comfort" me yet again, like you did at the Meadows! LOL!)

Laura looks disappointed and says "Sure." and leaves.

Jack (to himself and still watching Jennifer leave) - "Wow, she's leaving. Now how am I going to get her back? If I could only talk to Daniel Scott." Scene ends.

Next scene, Daniel's in the park by himself and talking on his cellphone. He is mad because he wanted to be on the next flight out of Salem but there's no seats available. He hangs up mad because Peter told him to get lost from Salem, A.S.A.P. But then Daniel re-considers saying he'll stay in Salem overnight and "lay low". And that Peter will never know that he's in Salem, so what's the harm, he says. Scene ends and that's the last scene of the episode.

I don't have some of the next episodes on tape. I believe Jack & Jennifer return home right away from their honeymoon after learning that Rachel is possibly Peter's mother. Later on, after arriving home, they finally confirm it for a fact. Jack is very relieved that Jennifer and Peter have returned to Salem, but Jennifer says that they wouldn't have come back so soon, otherwise. Anyway, that's all.
