[Jack and Jennifer are at work at their talk show. The show is
just wrapping up as Jack and Jenn
sit with their guest, a woman designer, waiting for the show to end.
Jack is smiling]
AND WE'RE ALL CLEAR!
[Jack, Jennifer and the guest stand up]
Jenn - Oh, that was a great show. Thank you. I love your
spring line!
Guest - Thank you, thank you.
Jack - That was absolutely the best fashion show that I've seen in ages.
Jenn - So when will we see your designs in the shops?
Guest - Next month. By the way, I love the way you dress, Jennifer.
Jenn - Really? Thank you!
Guest - I particulary like the scarf. Is it a Gilford?
Jenn - It is, actually. It was a gift from my boyfriend.
(Jack's smile disappears)
Guest - He's got great taste. (Jenn laughs) Thank you again
for having me on the show.
Jenn - Oh, it was my pleasure. Thank you very much.
Jack - (shakes her hand) Come again soon.
Guest - I will. Thanks Bye. (she leaves)
[Jennifer walks away as Jack follows her]
Jack - How can you take gifts from that guy? You know where his
money comes from.
Jack - (mad) What is that supposed to mean?
Jack - Peter is a Dimera. Everybody knows what that means.
That money is tainted.
Jenn - Oh, will you stop it Jack!
Jack - No, it's true, isn't it? I mean, Peter's got a smooth act.
But he's still a Dimera. And they
are all alike.
[Jenn looks at Jack, ticked off]

Jenn - How dare you assume anything about Peter. You don't even
know him, Jack.
Jack - Fortunately, I don't have to know him. Stefano Dimera raised
him like a son and that is
enough for me.
Jenn - You know, I think you have a lot of nerve attacking a man because
of his family. Or have
you forgotten the names people used to call you because of your father
and what he did.
Jack - No, no. That's different.
Jenn - Why is that different? Because he was a Senator?!
Where you could excuse all his lies
and his deceit and selfishness and greed?! (Jack is speechless)
You know, when we first got
together, everybody warned me to stay away from you. Everyone
said that you were no good for
me!
Jack - (hesitates) Well, maybe they were right about that.
Jenn - (caught off guard) What?
Jack - They were right. I was a louse. I was always scheming
and conniving and running some
kind of scam. Just like my father did. And you deserved
better. A lot better.
Jenn - (pauses, looking affected by his words) If you really believe
that, why did you come
back?
Jack - (firmly) Because I have changed. I'm not the same
guy you used to know, Jennifer. I
knew I had to change if I was going to be worthy of you and Abigail.
And I have. But I have not
forgotten who I was and I can spot somebody like the old Jack when
he's a mile away.
Jenn - Oh, if you're talking about Peter again, I don't want to hear
it. (starts to walk away)
Jack - (stops her) Jennifer.
Jenn - What?!
Jack - He's no good for you. Just trust me on this one.
Jenn - (looks at him like he's crazy) That is somehting that I
will never do again. I have no
reason to ever trust you.
[Kristen walks in]
Kristen - Excuse me. Hi. I'm sorry I'm late.
Jenn - Hi. It's all right.
Kristen - I have so much to talk to you about. Can you still have
lunch?
Jenn - Yeah, sure!
Jack - (cooly) Hello Kristen.
Kristen - (just as cold) Hello.
Jenn - (trying to break the tension) We were just talking about
Peter. And Stefano.
Kristen - Talking or arguing? (she puts her arm around Jenn)
Jack - Well, it's nothing against you, Kristen. But you know I'm
not a big fan of Peter's.
Kristen - That's understandable. I mean, after all, he took your
place when you walked out on
Jennifer.
Jack - (looking a little uncomfortable) Well, the fact remains.
Peter is Stefano's son.
Kristen - Yeah. So is Tony. Believe me, Tony and Peter are
nothing like my father. Nothing.
[Jack looks at her, not believing it]

Jack - Look, I know that you're Peter's sister and I'm not trying to
turn you against him but I have
an obligation to try to protect Jennifer and my little girl.
Jenn - We don't need your protection, Jack.
Kristen - Certainly not from my brother.
Jenn - Absolutely not.
Jack - Okay. Fine. (pauses) I need to talk to the director about
tomorrow's show. (he walks away)
[Jennifer and Kristen get ready to go to lunch when Jack comes running
back to them]
Jack - Hey, somebody just came into the newsroom! The police have
just made an arrest.
Jenn - (looks at Kristen) Stefano.
Jack - No, no. But it's apparently someone that works for him.
Kristen - Celeste?
Jenn - Has to be.
Kristen - I better go to the police station.
Jenn - I'm coming with you. Come on!
[Kristen and Jennifer run out]
Jack - This could be interesting. I think I'll tag along.
[Jack follows Jenn and Kristen out the door]

At the police station, Peter is there. Stefano got to him and
made him volunteer to defend
Celeste. Bo and John are questioning Celeste as Peter walks in
and tells them to let her go,
since there was no proof she did anything wrong. Bo is confused
as to why Peter would help
Celeste.
Bo - Peter, how can you defend someone who has helped Stefano for so
many years?
Jenn - I'd like to know the answer to that too.
[Peter quickly turns around and sees that Jennifer, Jack and Kristen
are standing in the doorway,
listening to what was being said.]

Jenn - Peter, how can you defend someone who has helped Stefano for
so many years?
Peter - Jennifer, this is not about Stefano. It's about Celeste
and she hasn't done anything
wrong.
Bo - (laughs) Right, besides help Stefano escape at every opportunity.
Peter - There's no proof of that. (looks at Jenn) And he
knows it. (turns back to Bo) Let her go,
Bo.
[Jennifer turn around and walks out of the office, looking very disappointed.]
Kristen - Jenn, I know this looks bad. But could you please try
to reserve judgement until you
hear his side of it?
Jenn - (quietly) Yeah. (she looks at Jack who is staring
at her)
Jack - I hate to say it, but --
Jenn - Don't say it, Jack!!
Jack - I told you so.
[Jennifer looks at Jack like she wants to kill him]
Later, the police eventually let Celeste go. Kristen leaves.
Jennifer walks into the office where
Peter is alone. Jack follows her]
Jenn - Come on, Peter. Why are you doing this? What are
you doing?
Peter - Jenn, you don't un-- (notices that Jack is there)
Look, I don't want to talk about it here.
Let's go somewhere else.
[They leave Jack behind]
Jack - Peter, I think your halo just slipped a little bit.

Peter and Jennifer are at Salem Place where Peter explains to her that
he didn't want Celeste to
suffer from Stefano's actions. Jennifer says she understands
and all is well again between them.
Jack shows up at Salem Place too and sees that Peter and Jennifer are
happy again.
Jack - (to himself) You could only talk your way out so many times.
But one of these days,
Peter, you're gonna slip up. And I'm gonna be there..........
to nail you to the wall.
