This is a summary of a couple episodes when Jack was temporarily back home from jail. The first episode from July 18, 1997 begins the morning after Jack returns home from prison...

Scene begins with Jack, Jennifer and Abby walking into the dining room, still wearing their night clothes. Jennifer is wearing a pink robe, Jack is wearing gray sweatpants and a white t-shirt and Abby's wearing her nightgown. Jack is holding Abby in his arms. This is the day of John and Marlena's wedding, and the morning after Jack has arrived home from prison.

Jennifer (smiling) - I made you a very special breakfast.

Abby - Pancakes!

Jack looks at the table and seems very surprised. He seems a bit sad too, I guess because it's so hard for him to believe that he's back at home with his family -- it's too good to be true.

Jennifer, sensing Jack's sadness, tells Abby to go to the kitchen and get some napkins for her. Abby leaves the room. Jack is still staring at the table full of food and seems sad. He begins to walk away from Jennifer. Jennifer follows him and looks sad for Jack too. A couple seconds later, he turns around and smiles at her...

Jack - Thanks. This is really nice.

Jennifer (quietly) - We're just happy to have you home, Jack... where you belong.

Jack is very moved by what Jennifer has just said to him. They walk towards each other and hold each other in their arms.

Jack (still holding Jennifer tightly and looking sad) - Do you know I prayed so hard to be back here with you and Abby? I was afraid it would never happen (he kind of laughs)...

Jennifer looks directly at Jack's face. They are still holding each other and standing very close. She smiles at him.

Jack (smiling at Jennifer) - I love you.

Jennifer (tears of joy in her eyes) - I love you too.

She leans over and kisses him gently on the lips, her hand against his neck. Scene ends.

Next scene, Jack has just walked into the living room and is standing there still looking like he is emotionally overwhelmed. Jennifer is walking out of the dining room towards him. His back is facing her. She places her hand on his arm.

Jennifer - Are you okay?

Jack (takes a deep breath) - Yeah... yeah. (turns to face her) I was just thinking of all the times that I .... thought of being here with you and Abby. (pauses) Each time I realized that it might...... not happen (he seems like he might cry)

Jennifer (quietly) - Well, you're here now, Jack.

Jack (looking sad) - Yeah, well, until my appeal either succeeds or fails.

Jennifer - Look, we have a lot of testimony that Peter is still alive. (places her hand on his upper arm and looks directly at his eyes) Jack, you are never, never going back to that prison.

Jack (looks at Jennifer's hand on his arm and places her hand in his hands. He kisses her hand and smiles. He is still holding her hand in his hands. He is speaking very quietly and his voice sounds very sexy) Jenn, tell you what -- why don't you go get dressed? And I'll put on that suit I had on yesterday, okay? (smiles at her)

Jennifer (smiles) - Well, all your clothes are in the hall closet

Jack looks confused and doesn't say anything. Don't tell me the poor guy thought she gave his clothes away to charity because he was going to jail?! ;-)

Jennifer - Jack, I never fully accepted the fact that you were gone for good.

Jack looks so happy about what Jennifer just said to him and he really smiles. Those dimples of his are showing ;-)

Jack - Thanks for never giving up on me.

Jennifer - I will never give up on you, Jack.

Jennifer leans over and hugs Jack. Jack puts his arms around Jennifer and holds her tightly. He still looks like he's overwhelmed with emotions. On the one hand, he looks relieved to finally be home with Jennifer and Abby. But, on the other hand, he seems sad and cautious with Jennifer, because he thinks his appeal might fail. This scene ends.

Next scene Jack, Jennifer and Abby arrive at John and Marlena's wedding. Jack is looking very attractive in his dark blue suit and tan of his. He is truly a site for sore eyes ;-) They walk into the main chapel and Jennifer stops midway down the main aisle to lean down and speak face to face with Abby.

Jennifer (smiling) - Sweetie, did you see Belle? She's gonna be the Flower Girl today.

Abby - I wanna be a flower girl.

Jack leans down towards Abby to speak to her.

Jack - Well, you might get a chance someday, Sweetheart.

He smiles at Jennifer as if he's hinting that they're going to get married again. Jennifer smiles back at him because she knows what Jack was trying to say. Yeah, Jack was right: Abby was a flower girl ---- at Austin and Carrie's wedding :-( Too bad it wasn't at Jack & Jennifer's wedding.

Next scene, Jack & Jennifer are sitting at their seats in the main chapel. Jack seats Abby between him and Jennifer.

Jennifer - I'm so happy for John and Marlena.

Jack (sounds serious) - Yeah... (he takes Jennifer's hand and holds it) Listen, Jenn... there's umm... (he pauses and seems kind of hesitant. He is looking down at the ground) ... there's something I want to ask you once my conviction's overturned (he looks at Jennifer and she smiles at Jack. Of course we all know Jack was going to ask Jennifer to marry him again. But he never did because his sentence was never overturned. Stupid writers!)

This episode ends. The next episode from July 22, 1997 has Jack & Jennifer arriving home from John and Marlena's wedding. They had to leave early because Abby wasn't feeling well. Mickey has arrived at their house and has gone into the other room to make some phone calls. Jennifer and Jack are all alone in the living room and Jennifer looks very happy to be alone with Jack. She is very affectionate with him, but Jack seems more cautious and worried.

Jennifer - Well, I'm sorry that we can't go to John and Marlena's wedding. But (she begins to smile and look at him suggestively) on the other hand, (she grabs Jack's arms and pulls him closer to her) I'm glad we can spend the evening together -- just the three of us.

Jack (smiles back at Jennifer but then his smile disappears) - Jenn, I.... (Jennifer leans over and hugs him but Jack is looking sad) ... I worry about getting used to this ..... this freedom....

Jennifer (looks directly at his face, still holding his arms) - Don't Jack. I refuse to believe that your conviction won't be overturned.

Jack (takes a deep breath and looks nervous and sad) - Jenn, if it is.... I'm moving out of the house.

Jennifer looks at Jack and seems quite surprised and confused. She has this "You can't be serious" look on her face. The scene ends.

Next scene. They are still standing and facing each other, still holding each other's hands.

Jennifer (begins to raise her voice) - What are you talking about, Jack? Why would you want to move out of the house?!

Jack - Listen, Jenn, when I was convicted and I was sent to prison, you were very emotional. You were very concerned about Abby and about me. And you said some things that I'm not going to hold you to if I'm finally free.

Jennifer (kind of shouting and crying) - What things, Jack?! That I loved you?! That I wanted you back in my life?! I mean, these are not decisions that I made lightly. I searched my heart and my soul (she pauses and seems hesitant to ask the next question) Now have your feelings for me changed?

Jack (smiles and laughs. Obviously Jack is laughing because it's rather obvious that even if he wanted to, he could never stop loving her) - No. Never. I just don't want to set us up for another disappointment...

Jennifer is now smiling at Jack and looks very relieved to know that Jack is not dumping her.

Jennifer (trying to make eye contact with Jack but he is not really looking at her and seems very cautious around her. She smiles) - Okay. Well, then we'll just take it one day at a time. And we'll make every day really fun. Come on...

She laughs and walks with him to the couch, holding his hands, and really smiling. Jennifer is acting very playful with him and Jack can no longer remain sad and cautious, when Jennifer is in such a good and playful mood. He kind of laughs and smiles. They are now sitting very close to each other on the couch, facing one another, still holding each other's hands.

Jennifer (sounds very happy and playful) - What do you want to do? We could skydive. Or we could go in a hot air balloon. Or we could go to Paris for the weekend.

Jack - Mmm... You know what... you know what I really want to do (he places his arm around the back of the couch so that he looks like he's about to kiss her) I just want to take Abby down to the pier for some ice cream. I want to go fishing. I want to go for a walk with you and my daughter on the shore. I wanna lay in the hammock in the backyard (he's really smiling at Jennifer and gives her this very passionate look)

Jennifer (speaking very quietly and smiles) - Well, if I can lie in the hammock with you, then you have a deal......

Anyway, the rest of that episode, Jack is trying to get Mickey to find his cellmate Travis. But Mickey tells him a "Travis Molloy" never existed in the computer records of that prison. Jack laughs and tells him that's impossible. That's about it.
