Episode Summary (Nov. 27/28, 1995) | Transcribed by Salem |
Here is the episode summary of the scenes in and around Jack's interruption in the honeymoon cottage.
Jack has continued his wandering around the Blake property after Jennifer
and Peter's wedding. He just can't seem to go back to the Red Dragon
Inn. After chatting with Sarah, Jack sees the Lady in
White and pursues. He soon comes across a mysterious cave and
his reporter instinct takes control
as he explores. He enters the cave. He takes out a lighter
and illuminates the cave. (I find it ironic that he uses a lighter
since Mark smokes but Jack does not)
Jack -- Uhh, Is anyone here?
He travels further into the cave and comes across many candles and much junk. It really looks like a rummage sale of some sort.
Jack -- What is going on here . . . I knew it. Someone was
here. (he has used the lighter to light one of the many candles)
What is this place? Look at all this stuff. (he picks out one
piece
of paper in particular) A drawing? It's got a tombstone
on it and some writing . . . Jennifer.
Worry fills Jack's face but confusion outweighs any panic.
Jack -- Now who would make a drawing of a tombstone and why would they have Jennifer's name on it. Unless they wanted to kill Jennifer.
He really does not believe that is possible and continues to look around as Sarah calls out to him.
Jack -- Sarah, I'm in here.
Sarah -- Jack, what are you doing in here? I've been looking for you ever since I found out the news.
Jack -- What news?
Sarah -- When I went back to the pub, I . . (sees the drawing) What's that?
Jack -- Huh? Oh, I found somebody in here. There was some noise and they disappeared behind there, but they left this behind.
Sarah -- It's a drawing of a tombstone. (gets upset when she examines it) Why is Jennifer's name on it?
Jack -- I think somebody wants her dead.
He exits the cave and Sarah follows.
Sarah -- Why would anyone want to hurt Jennifer?
Jack -- I don't know. I don't know. Wait. Remember when Jennifer was in the cave and she said that someone was with her. Maybe this was the cave.
Sarah -- Do you think that the person in the cave was the same person that made the drawing?
Jack -- Well it's a good possibility. Well in any case, I gotta warn Jennifer before anything else happens. (goes to run but Sarah stops him)
Sarah -- Wait. Something else has happened.
Jack -- To Jennifer?
Sarah -- I don't know. When I went back to the pub, Uncle Lou told me that he heard that someone had been shot at the wedding.
Jack -- Oh my God. I gotta get back there. Jennifer, Jennifer could be hurt. I've got to get back to the house.
Sarah -- Well, she's probably not at the house.
Jack -- (disturbed) Well then where is she?
Sarah -- Peter told me not to tell anyone.
Jack -- Sarah tell me.
Sarah -- It was planned as a surprise for the wedding night. I, I helped him with everything.
Jack -- (calmly) Sarah, Jennifer could have been the one that was shot. You've got to tell me where she is.
Peter and Jennifer, in the meantime, know nothing of the events at the reception. They are getting ready for bed. Then there is a noise at the door. Peter gets up to check it out. He opens the door and Jack rushes in.
Jack -- Jen, Jen. Thank God you are all right.
Peter -- (stops him at the end of the bed) What the hell are you doing here?
Jennifer -- (still in bed) Jack!
Jennifer gets up out of bed and makes a beeline towards Peter.
Jack -- Will you just let go of me! (Peter does)
Jennifer -- Are you out of your mind, Jack?
Jack -- (points at the bed) That's not what I wanted to . . .
Peter -- Jack, we know what you wanted, and it's too late. Despite
all of your efforts, Jennifer and I are married now and we are on our honeymoon
and I have had enough of you. I ought to have
you locked back up in jail.
Jack -- On what charges? The arson charge has been completely dropped.
Peter -- I'll think of something.
Jennifer -- Will you just get out of here please.
Jack -- I didn't come here to cause trouble, Jen. I didn't. I came here to warn Jennifer. She could be in danger.
Jennifer -- Oh don't do this again, please.
Peter -- The only person in danger here, Jack, is you.
Jack -- Just listen to me for a minute. There has been a shooting and someone from the wedding is involved.
Jennifer -- (takes Jack's words as truth and is shocked) What?
Peter -- It's another one of his stories.
Jack -- It's the truth. Something happened that made me think that you could be involved and that's why I am here.
Peter -- Come on Jack, you can come up with something better than that can't you.
Jack -- (confident) Why don't you call the house. Talk to someone.
Peter -- You're lying.
Jack -- Prove me wrong, call the house.
Jennifer -- (right away) Peter call.
Peter -- Jack if you are lying to me, you are going to be very sorry.
Peter goes to make the call. He is shocked to find out that Tony was shot at the reception. Jack is just glad that he was proven right. Peter wants to head over to the house. He dresses.
Jennifer -- How did this happen?
Peter -- You're mom didn't say. We had better get over to the house.
Jennifer -- I don't have anything else to wear except my wedding dress. Can you go see what's going on and grab me something on your way back.
Peter -- Jen, I am not leaving you alone on our wedding night.
Jennifer -- Peter, when Tony is out of danger we will start our honeymoon all over again. I promise you. Now you need to go to the house. Come on.
Peter -- (to Jack) Will you wait outside, just in case?
Jack -- Sure.
Jennifer -- Okay, give Kristen my love and call me. (Peter exits) I don't need you to stay here. I am fine.
Jack -- There may be a homicidal maniac roaming the area. There's
no way I'm going to leave you alone. Until we figure what's going
on, I am going to stay right here. Do you want me to make you
some coffee or something?
Jennifer -- I would really like you to leave, Jack.
Jack -- Forget it.
Jennifer -- First you ruin my wedding rehearsal, you almost ruin my wedding and now you're intruding on my honeymoon.
Jack -- The only reason I came here is to make sure that you were okay.
Granted, yes now you are married to Peter, but you are still the mother
of our child and I'm going to do everything I can to
protect you, whether you like it or not.
Jennifer -- Well thank you but I'm fine. I know it can't be easy for you being in our honeymoon cottage.
Some music begins to play on the stereo.
Jack -- No you're right, it's not.
Jennifer -- Jack . . .
Jack has recognizes the music. A voice begins to sing "You can say you love me."
Jack -- (he is hurt) That was our song. How could you listen to that with someone else?
Jennifer -- (turns off the music) I didn't have anything to do with choosing the music. If it upsets you, I'm sorry.
Jack -- But you remembered that was our song, didn't you. It brought back a lot of memories for you.
Jennifer -- No it didn't.
Jack -- You know you will never forget about me Jennifer.
Jennifer -- (she finally grabs a silk robe and wraps it around her revealing figure) No what I won't forget is the affair that you had with my mother.
Jack -- Now you know that we did not use our real names at the Meadows. I did not know that she was your mother and she had no idea that I was your ex-husband.
Jennifer -- (laughs) Come on, Jack.
Peter enters.
Peter -- I thought I told you to wait outside.
Jack -- I thought I would be more help here on the inside. Now what happened? Who shot Tony? Is he alright?
Peter -- John shot him?
Jennifer -- John Black?
Peter -- Yeah.
Jennifer -- No. There has to be some kind of mistake, Peter.
Peter -- No it's the truth, Jen. Tony is still alive and he said that John shot him.
Jack exits the cottage and shuts the door behind him. He just watches Peter hold Jennifer through the window. He must feel like he is the one who has been shot through the heart.
