Episode Summary -- Part Three | Transcribed by Sandra |
This is a continuation of the previous episode summary. The
first scene in this show, which involves this storyline, shows Jennifer
walking down the aisle towards Jack....
Bill [to Jennifer] -- I think this is where I get off.
[Jennifer smiles]
Bill -- I love you, Jennifer Rose.
Jennifer -- I love you too, Daddy.
[Bill kisses Jennifer's hand and she smiles.]
[Jennifer stands next to Jack, facing him at the altar. She smiles
at him and says "Hi". He looks very nervous, but he's trying to keep
calm and says "Hello" back to her.]
Jack -- I know I wasn't really at the rehearsal. But umm... I
believe we're supposed to be holding hands at this point.
Jennifer [smiling] -- Oh, that's right. Here. [she takes
Jack's hands in hers] Gosh, it's so funny. I feel like I'm
dreaming.
Jack [laughing] -- Not me. I just woke up from one, thank you
very much.
[Jennifer laughs]
Jennifer -- This is real. Isn't it? I mean, we're here.
And this is really happening?
Jack [smiling and looking at Jennifer with love] -- And they said it
would never happen.
Jennifer [smiling] -- But it did. We made it, Jack. In spite
of everything, we made it. Or maybe it's because of everything.
I mean, maybe ... maybe it wasn't supposed to be easy. Maybe that's
why we had to fight so hard.
Jack [smiles and nods his head to agree with her] -- Contramundum, huh?
Jennifer [smiling] -- Yeah. Contramundum.
[Jack and Jennifer look at each other with love. The scene ends.]
[Next scene, Jack & Jennifer are still standing at the altar waiting
for the priest]
Jack [to Jennifer, pointing to his bow tie] -- My uh... my tie.
Could you check it, please? I had to get dressed rather quickly.
Jennifer [leans over to fix Jack's tie] -- Yeah, sure.
[The priest arrives while she's doing that.]
[Jennifer asks Jack how her veil looks. She wants to know if it
looks crooked. Jack tries to fix her veil, saying however that he's
no expert at that. The priest is standing there watching them fix
themselves up and he laughs. Marcus tries to inform Jack that the
priest has arrived. Finally, Jack notices the priest there and he
apologizes for being so nervous and awkward, saying that him and Jennifer
haven't really been through this before, well, together anyway. The
priest says he understands. The wedding ceremony begins]
Priest -- Dearly beloved. We come together today to join Jack
Harcourt Deveraux and Jennifer Rose Horton in marriage. Reminding
them that it is a stake desired and cherished by peoples of all generations.
With a love that will not falter, and an abiding faith in one another,
they will now make their vows. As we, their witnesses and friends,
will vow to support them as they begin the weaving of their lives in an
endless togetherness. Jennifer? [Jennifer looks at the
priest and then back at Jack] Will you take Jack to be your husband?
Will you love, honour and cherish him now and forever more?
Jennifer [smiling] -- Yes, I will.
Priest -- Jack, will you take Jennifer to be your bride? Will
you love, honour and cherish her now and forever more?
[Jack looks quite nervous. But he still looks at Jennifer with
incredible love. After pausing for a few seconds, he answers the
priest]
Jack -- Yes, I will.
[Jennifer really smiles]
Priest -- And now there's something, I believe, that Jennifer wants
to say.
Jack [very confused and says to Jennifer] -- What?
Jennifer -- I know this isn't really traditional. Umm..
but I found this poem and it talks about marriage. And it sort of
expresses.... I'll let you decide...
Jennifer's wedding poem to Jack (she says this with tears of joy
in her eyes):
Now we will feel no rain, for each of us will be shelter to each
other,
And now we will feel no cold, for each of us will be warmth to each
other,
Now there is no loneliness.
We are two bodies, but there is one life before us,
And one home.
When evening falls, I'll look to you and there you'll be,
And I'll take your hand and you'll take mine,
And we'll turn together and we'll look to the road we travelled
to reach this,
The hour of our happiness.
It stretches far behind us,
And our future lies ahead.
A long and winding road,
Where every turning means discovery,
All the hopes, new laughter, shared tears,
The adventure has just begun.
Jack [looks over to the priest and seems overwhelmed with emotion] --
What she just said.... That... that goes double for me..
[Jennifer laughs through her tears of joy]
Priest -- Jennifer, repeat after me. "I, Jennifer, take you, Jack
to be my husband."
Jennifer -- I, Jennifer, take you, Jack to be my husband.
Priest -- To have and to hold, from this day forward. For better,
for worse. For richer, for poorer.
Jennifer -- To have and to hold, from this day forward.
For better, for worse. For richer, for poorer.
Priest -- In sickness and in health, to love and cherish always.
Jennifer [very confidently] -- In sickness and in health, to love and
cherish always.
Priest -- Jack, repeat after me: "I, Jack, take you, Jennifer,
to be my wife..."
Jack [looks so overwhelmed, he might faint] -- I, Jack, take you, Miss..
[he smiles at her] take you, Jennifer, to be my wife...
Priest -- To have and to hold, from this day forward...
Jack [sounds more confident and happy now. He is almost about
to cry tears of joy] -- To have and to hold, from this day forward..
Priest -- For better...
Jack -- For better, for worse,
Priest -- For richer, for poorer..
Jack -- For richer, for poorer.. [he's starting to cry] In sickness
and in health. [takes a deep breath and smiles through his tears.
Jennifer smiles at him through her tears] To love... To love and
to cherish, [he gives her a big smile] From this day forward.
[Jennifer is smiling and holding back many more tears from her eyes]
Priest -- May I have the rings please?
[Priest takes the wedding rings and blesses them]
[Marcus gives Jack the wedding ring. Jack places the ring on Jennifer's
finger]
[Jack and Jennifer take a deep breath and smile]
Jack [with great love] -- Jennifer, I give you this ring... as a token
and a pledge... of our constant faith and abiding love.
[Jennifer is crying tears of joy. She takes a deep breath and
places the wedding ring on Jack's finger]
Jennifer [holding back tears] -- Jack, I give you this ring, as a token
and pledge, of our constant faith and abiding love.
[She gently caresses Jack's hand after she places the ring on his finger.
Jack & Jennifer are now both holding back tears.]
Priest -- You have declared your consent and your vows before God and
this congregation. May God confirm your convenant and fill you both
with grace. Now Jack and Jennifer have given themselves to each other
the solemn vows, by the joining of hands, by the giving of rings.
I now announce to you that they are husband and wife. [Jack &
Jennifer smile at each other] In the name of the Father, and of the
Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Those whom God has joined, let no one
separate. Amen.
[The crowd says Amen.]
Priest -- Well, you may kiss the bride.
Jack -- Thank you.
[Jack gently lifts Jennifer's veil and looks at her face.
He is clearly overwhelmed with love and joy for her. They both gently
lean their faces closer to one another and they share a very long and gentle
kiss. The crowd claps. Scene ends.]
[Next scene, the crowd is still clapping. Jack & Jennifer
are still kissing each other and are smiling. Finally, they stop
kissing]
Priest -- Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Mr. and Mrs. Jack Deveraux.
[crowd claps and cheers and Jack & Jennifer smile. They slowly
walk hand in hand down the aisle. They stop at the beginning of the
aisle to wave to the crowd. And Jack kisses Jennifer yet again.
They walk away, with their lips still locked in an embrace.]
[Jack & Jennifer now run into the arena. They are all alone.
Jennifer stops for a second to speak to Jack]
Jack -- What is it?
Jennifer -- Jack?
Jack -- Yes?
Jennifer [in disbelief and is smiling] We're married.
Jack -- Yes, that is the rumour.
Jennifer -- I can't believe it. I mean, I heard the minister say
the words. And I heard you. And I heard myself..
Jack -- And?
Jennifer -- And it's wonderful, Jack. It's incredible. I
can't believe that it happened. [she grabs on to Jack and hugs him
tightly] I feel like I'm gonna cry...
Jack -- No, no. Please don't. You'll scare the horses.
Jennifer [smiling] -- Do you think we can get out of here in time for
Mr. [?] to start the show?
Jack -- I don't think we have to worry about that. Forget about
Mr. [?] I have something else that I just need to do with you right
now. Come on...
Jennifer -- No, Jack, we can't go. Everyone is lining up to congratulate
us.
Jack -- You don't need to worry about them. They'll wait in the reception
line. Alright? There's something important we have to do.
Jennifer -- What are you talking about?!
Jack -- Don't worry. Just follow me.
Jennifer -- Wait a minute, Jack...
Jack -- They're coming! I can hear them! Now get in there!
Quick!
[Jack gently pushes Jennifer into one of the rooms. Scene ends]
[Next scene, Jack is in a room with Jennifer]
Jennifer -- Now, Jack, you do realize that all of Salem is waiting to
congratulate us at Fisherman's Village, don't you?
Jack [kind of whispering] -- All of Salem can wait. Alright?
I have something.... I have something that I need to talk about.
Jennifer -- Well, what do you want to talk about?
Jack -- Look, I wasn't going to get in to this. But you kind of
... you surprised me with that umm... that poem. So umm.. I just
thought I had to say a.... well, I had to get my feelings out and down
.... [pulls out a letter and hands it to Jennifer with a nervous smile]
You can read my feelings. Here you go.
Jennifer [shocked] -- What is this Jack?
Jack [nervously smiling] -- This is just a couple of things that I jotted
down on paper. It's umm... Well, I wasn't sure I was going
to be able to speak in time for the ceremony. So .... it was just
my feelings that I got down... that I got down on paper. Please.
[he walks away with his hands in his pocket. He seems very uncomfortable]
[Jennifer reads the letter aloud]
Jack's letter:
Dear Jennifer;
In the past few days I have been something that I have rarely been
at any other time in my entire life. Silent. [Jennifer laughs]
But you're at least partly to blame. From the day we met, you've
surprised me, challenged me, and engaged me in a way that no other human
being ever has. And I've never been able to tell you what that meant
to me. But today, of all days, I have to find a way. Before
I knew you, I wasn't living. I was waiting and hoping. Because
even though I've lived my life in a gray and .... [Jennifer pauses to tell
Jack she can't read a word from his letter. Jack walks towards Jennifer
to read the rest of the letter] ... in a gray and souless city, I've always
known that somewhere in the heart of it, there is a wall and then there
is a door. [tears begin to flow from Jack and Jennifer's eyes as
Jack reads the rest of his letter] And if you're lucky enough to
have the key, and you're lucky enough to get inside, you'll be about as
close as any of us are ever going to get to the Garden of Eden. And
I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but I feel that's pretty much
where I'm standing right now. Sans snakes and the apple trees, of
course.
Jennifer [tears in her eyes] -- Now, I am gonna cry..
Jack [holding back tears, but sounds very calm] -- Being happy is no
reason to cry.
Jennifer [smiling through her tears] -- Happy? Jack Harcourt Deveraux
is admitting to being happy?
Jack -- Well, you know, I just thought that [?] was sufficient for a
moment. I just hope that I can make you as happy.
Jennifer -- Jack, you already have. I have never been happier
in my entire life.
[Jack looks like he might say something but he doesn't. He looks
kind of uncomfortable]
Jennifer -- I love you so much, Jack.
Jack [quietly, holding back tears] -- I love you so much too.
[Jennifer smiles and leans her face towards Jack's face. They
begin to kiss. Scene ends.]
[Next scene, Marcus introduces the bride and groom, Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Deveraux at the reception. They walk in to the cheers and claps of
the wedding guests. The song "All I Have" begins to play on the loudspeakers
at the reception. Jack & Jennifer begin to dance and kiss each
other. The guests clap as they gently kiss one another. Scene
ends.]
[Jennifer tosses the bridal bouquet and Kayla catches it. Next
scene, Jack tosses the garter and RoJohn catches the garter]
[Next scene, Jennifer and Jack decide to leave the reception.
They say goodbyes to their wedding guests. The guests all leave to
go outside and prepare to throw rice on Jack & Jennifer.]
Jennifer -- Well, when we walk out that door, it's going to be a whole
new life for us.
Jack -- Don't I know it.
Jennifer -- Are you ready?
Jack -- I'm ready if you're ready.
Jennifer [smiles] -- It's kind of like jumping out of an airplane, isn't
it?
Jack [smiles back] -- No. One exception. This time you don't
have to push me out first.
[Jennifer laughs]
Jack -- What do you say? Ready to finally go out?
[Jennifer smiles and says yes. They both run out quickly holding their
hands, as the guests toss rice at them outside the reception hall.
Scene ends.]
[Now Jack & Jennifer are back at the Stunt Show Arena. They
are outside and it is dark. I guess they went back there to get one
last look at the site of their wedding ceremony]
Jack -- Listen to me. I'm telling you the truth. This guy
Mahoney. He never showed up. He missed his plane. So
they thought he was me.
Jennifer [almost laughing] -- Come on, Jack. Did they really
lock you up?
Jack -- Scout's honour!! I mean I was locked up all night long
with no one but the "Lone Ranger" and "Tonto" to keep me company.
Jennifer [smiling] -- You know this could only happen to you?
Jack -- You're telling me.
Jennifer -- But the important thing is that you got out, and you got
here, and you married me.
Jack -- So now what?
Jennifer -- Well, it's the like the poem said, "When the evening
falls, I'll look up and there you'll be. And I'll take your hand
and you'll take mine..." Jack, this marriage is going to be an
adventure. I can feel it.
Jack [nervously] -- Well, I don't mind it being an adventure.
As long as all those things that only happen to me, stop happening to me.
[Jennifer laughs. Jack walks towards this 'seat' that's in the
arena. Little does he know this seat has a big "'T.N.T." sign on
it. He sits down on the part of the seat that looks like a lever
that activates the explosive when you press it down. Jennifer sits
on his lap]
Jack -- I mean, I just... I just got this feeling, you know?
As long as nothing goes wrong...
Jennifer -- Come on, Jack. I mean, what could possibly go wrong now?
[an explosion is heard and the front of the 'saloon' falls towards
the ground. Jennifer asks what that sound is. The prop. saloon front falls forward and over them, but there is an opening, so that Jack & Jennifer
don't get hit by the prop. saloon front as it falls on 'top' of them, so
to speak. Jennifer looks shocked and her jaw drops. Jack just
sits there without any shock at all, almost as if he expected it to happen.
Then they look at each other and realize what just happened and they begin
to scream in horror, realizing that Jack's bad luck streak is continuing.
The show ends.]
