These are the episodes where Jennifer finally admits to Jack her love for him. This summary was transcribed by Sandra....
I am posting a summary of the end of one episode and a summary of the entire episode that followed it. In this episode from March 26, 1997, Jack finds out from Jennifer that Abby has a high fever. He is worried sick about Abby. In the middle of his phone conversation with Jenn, Jack is told that he must hang up because his "time is up". Jack is furious and says he needs to speak to Jennifer about a family emergency, but the guard says if he "bends the rules" for Jack he's "gotta bend the rules for everyone." Finally, Jack manages to obtain a call by agreeing to do another inmate's "boiler room duty" in exchange for the inmate agreeing to give Jack his telephone privilege. Jack heads over to the telephone and calls Jennifer.
Phone rings in Jennifer's bedroom. Abby is lying in Jennifer's bed and Jennifer is giving Abby a drink.
Jennifer (answering phone) - Hello?
Jack (in a panic) - Jenn, how's Abby?
Jennifer (sounds relieved) - Oh, she's okay.
Jack (still in a panic) - And her fever?
Jennifer (reassuringly) - She's gonna be fine, Jack.
Jack (breathes a sigh of relief) - Oh! Thank God! (catching his breath) I was so worried!
Jennifer (looks worried about Jack) - Jack, she's gonna be fine. (pauses) Listen.....how did... how did you get to make another phone call? I thought that they were really strict about that.
Jack (sounding evasive) - I just worked a deal.
Jennifer (sounds mad) - What kind of deal?
Jack (finally sounds calm) - You don't have to worry about it, Jenn. I just needed to know that you and Abby were okay.
Jennifer (looks really worried and serious. She waits a few seconds before saying something. She gets off the bed and walks away so Abby can't hear her) - Jack.... ummm... maybe it would be better... if.... you just forgot about us...
Jack (looks really sad) - Forgot about you?
Jennifer (starting to get teary-eyed) - It would make it easier on you.
Jack (tears in his eyes. He sounds upset and annoyed by Jenn's comment but is talking quietly) - Listen, Jenn, what ... what kind of man do you think I am? Easier! (starts to really cry) I love you and Abby. I thought umm... I thought you understood that. I thought things were changing for us....
Jennifer (sounds very sad) - Jack.... (the phone disconnects)
Jack looks at the phone and is wondering why the phone disconnected. He starts banging on the phone and pressing the part of the telephone that you press to hang up the phone, in an effort to re-connect with Jennifer's line. He looks furious.
Jack - Jenn? (he takes his ear off the receiver) It disconnected. (he says quietly) Did she hang up?
Jennifer (still talking on her phone and has no idea the line got disconnected) - Oh, Jack, things are changing. I'm just... I'm just so worried about you. (talking very quietly) I care about you so much. (pauses and looks a bit nervous to say the next line) I love you. (she waits for a response but hears none) Jack? Jack? (Jenn hangs up the phone and looks disappointed) He didn't hear me.
Jack is still pushing down on the 'hang up' button -- I don't know why he thinks that would help him re-connect to Jenn's line. The guard walks towards him and Jack looks like he is very depressed and about to give up on trying to re-connect to Jennifer's phone line. He looks at the guard and, with great sadness, hangs up the phone. He walks back to his cell with the guard. The scene ends.
Next scene. Abby is asleep in Jennifer's bed. Jennifer is sitting nearby and stroking Abby's forehead very gently. Jennifer looks terribly sad and lonely for Jack. She gets up and walks towards a table and picks up a picture of Jack happily holding Abby.
Jennifer (very sad) - I didn't mean it, Jack. I don't want you out of our lives. (takes a deep breath and stops looking at the picture) I just don't want you to suffer because of us. If only I could have explained that to you.... If you only knew how much I love you... Scene ends.
Next scene, Jack walks back into his prison cell and seems incredibly depressed. He seats himself on his bed, leans forward and covers his face with his hands. Travis looks at him.
Travis - Everything okay?
Jack (still has his face covered by his hands) - Yeah. Yeah. (uncovers his face and sits up) Abby's fever broke. (quietly) She's gonna be fine.
Travis (smiles) - Phew. That's great.
Jack (staring forward, not looking at Travis and sounds very depressed) - Yeah. (pauses) Yeah, it's great. (pauses again) There's one thing that isn't so great -- I thought there was gonna be a chance for Jennifer and I to get back together again, but I was wrong. (almost crying) She doesn't want to have anything to do with me.
Travis looks at Jack and doesn't say anything. He pretends he is sad for Jack. Jack looks like he is trying really hard to keep himself from crying. He leans back and sits against his wall looking very depressed. Poor guy doesn't know how much Jennifer wants to be with him too! Travis gets up from his bed and leaves his cell. Outside the cell, he walks over to Ernie the prison guard and smiles. Travis says to the guard, "Call Stefano. This is our chance" Scene ends. That's the end of the episode.
The next episode from April 7, 1997 deals with Jack finally discovering that Jennifer does indeed love him. This is a great episode. Jack is sitting alone at a bench, in the prison rec. room, while the other inmates, including Travis, are watching television. Jack still looks depressed. He stares into space and begins to hear Jennifer's voice in his head. He is remembering the last thing that Jennifer said to him which was: "Jack... maybe it would be better if you forgot about us." Jack says to himself out loud, "Never Jenn. I'm sorry, but I'm never gonna forget about you and Abby."
Jack gets up from his bench and walks towards the television set. Suddenly he notices Jennifer on the TV. Travis is yelling at one of the inmates, Harry, not to turn the channel because he was watching a movie.
Jack (pointing at tv set and looks hyper) - No! Hold it! Hold it! Go back! That's my wife! She was on the .... she was on TV.
Harry (not looking at Jack who is standing behind him and says angrily) - I'm watching the film...
Jack - OH COME ON!
Harry quickly gets up, turns around and grabs Jack by his shirt. He has one hand up in the air, as if he is about to strike Jack. Jack looks startled and pushes Harry's hand down. Harry is still grabbing Jack's shirt.
Jack (trying to sound calm) - Uh... I'll do your laundry...... for a week. (That line made me laugh. Can you imagine Jack washing some guy's dirty prison laundry? Poor Jack!)
Harry (he sounds like Clint Eastwood in that Dirty Harry film) - Two weeks. And the remote's yours, Deveraux.
Harry is still grabbing at Jack's shirt. Jack tries to pull Harry's hand off his shirt. Jack pauses to think about Harry's offer, and then Jack says "You gotta deal."
Harry suddenly pushes himself away from Jack. He lets go of Jack's shirt and gives Jack the remote. Jack sits down on the bench and starts turning the channels to get Jennifer's television show on the prison TV set. Jennifer appears on the TV set wearing a black evening dress. She is hosting a TV show about a charity event at the Penthouse Grill. Jack is watching her very closely on the TV set and looks very relieved to be able to see her. The scene ends.
Next scene, Jack is still carefully watching Jenn on the TV set. Jennifer introduces a TV clip and when the clip begins Jack mutes the TV set with the remote and takes a deep breath. Jack looks very worn out. He covers his face with his hands and rubs his eyes. Travis is looking at Jack.
Travis - Still upset about Jennifer telling you to get lost, Jack?
Jack (uncovers his face and looks at Travis) - Look, I am going to be in this Hell Hole for the rest of my life. (pauses) There's no way that Jennifer.... a woman like her.... is gonna wait for me forever. It'll take a miracle to get me out of here. (Jack looks down at the bench)
Travis - Yeah, miracles don't come easy around here.
Jack (looks at Travis and still seems depressed) - Right...
Jack stares off and begins to have a dream of him and Jennifer dancing at Chez-Vous, when they were married to each other. This is the same dream sequence that they used during the Valentine's Dinner episode. Jack is wearing a tuxedo in this flashback and Jennifer is wearing a white sleeveless evening gown. They are both holding each other and looking into each other's eyes and smiling.
Jack - So are you enjoying yourself?
Jennifer (nods her head in agreement) - There's something magical about this place.
Jack (smiles at Jennifer) - There's something magical about us.
They gaze into each other's eyes for a few seconds. She has her hands on his shoulders. He smiles at her and she smiles back. Then he gets a passionate look in his eyes and leans forward towards her face. She leans towards his face and they kiss. The dream ends.
Jack looks incredibly sad. He's almost on the verge of tears. He covers his face with his hands again. The scene ends.
Next scene, Jennifer is talking to Hope at the Charity Dinner/Dance. Jennifer is talking to Hope about Hope's relationship with Bo.
Jennifer - The bond that you share with Bo is so strong and it always has been. And Hope... that kind of love only comes along once in a lifetime.
Hope (smiles) - Kind of like you and Jack.
Jennifer (almost whispering) - I can't stop thinking about him.
Hope (looks sad for Jenn) - It's gotta be so hard for you.
Jennifer (nods to agree with Hope) - Mmm.... well, the worst part is that he doesn't know how I feel about him. He thinks I want nothing to do with him.
Hope - Jenn, you've gotta tell him how you feel. It'll give him something to hold onto.
Jennifer smiles at Hope. Hope and Jennifer continue to talk about J.L. King, etc. Hope says she's going to do her own investigating to see if J.L. can tell her who the Big Drug Boss is in Salem. Jennifer says that's dangerous. Jenn offers to help Hope with this investigation. Scene ends.
Next scene, J.L. asks Jennifer to dance with him. Jennifer agrees hoping she can get some info. about the Salem drug scene from J.L. in an effort to help Hope. "Unbreak My Heart" (Jack & Jenn's song) is playing in the restaurant. They begin to dance and J.L. is holding Jennifer close to him. Jack is sitting in the prison rec. room with his elbows on the table, leaning his head against his hands. He is looking incredibly depressed. When he suddenly sees Jennifer slow dancing with J.L., he starts to look very uncomfortable and bothered by it. He starts to fidget in his chair because of how painful it is to see Jennifer with another man, especially since he thinks Jennifer just dumped him. And to top it off, Jennifer is smiling at J.L. and looks like she is having a good time. Jack still watches her dance with J.L. but he looks like he might cry.
Travis (turns towards Jack) - This must be killing you, Jack.
Jack (trying to act strong) - No... no... Look, I want Jennifer to be happy. I want her to start a new life with Abigail. (points to TV set) And if that means meeting other guys then, hey, that's a good sign, right?
Jack tries to look at the TV set but then quickly turns away from it. He stares off and looks depressed. (Nice view of his gorgeous blue eyes ;-) Scene ends.
Next scene, Jennifer is still dancing with J.L. trying to look like she is enjoying his company. But all the while she is thinking that she hopes that J.L. will lead her to Salem's Drug Boss. (Of course, she doesn't realize that J.L. IS the Drug Boss!) Jack is still forcing himself to watch Jennifer dance with J.L. on the TV set. Travis suggests that Jack should turn the show off. Jack says no. (Why is Jack putting himself through this torture?! Probably because he's so lonely for Jennifer that he'll do anything to see her -- even if it means watching her dance with another man. How sad!) The camera shows a close-up of Jack's face and then the tv set. J.L. suddenly "turns" into Jack so that it is Jack that is now dancing with Jennifer at that restaurant. This allows the audience to realize that Jack is so desperate to be with Jennifer that he is hallucinating that he is the man that is dancing with Jennifer. Harry suddenly walks up to the television set and notices J.L.
Harry - Hey! That's J.L. King.
Jack (shocked) - What? You know him?! (Jack points to TV set)
Harry - Not personally. A guy I know took 50 stitches to the face from one of his goons.
Jack (looks incredibly startled and worried) - What?!?! (Jack quickly gets up from his chair) I gotta go warn Jennifer. (he quickly runs out of the room)
Travis (to himself) - Don't worry, Jack. Stefano won't let anything happen to Jennifer. She means too much to his adopted son, Peter Blake." Scene ends.
Next scene, Jack is on the prison telephone and is calling Jennifer. Jennifer has now finished dancing with J.L. The prison guard is standing nearby with his arms folded. He is making Jack nervous because Jack doesn't want to have to hang up until he warns Jennifer about J.L.
Jack (nervously) - Come on, Jenn! Come on, Jenn! Just answer the phone!
Jennifer (answers her cellphone) - Hello?
Jack - Jennifer!
Jennifer - Jack!
Jack (speaking very fast) - Look, Jenn, I saw you on TV. I can only talk to you for a few minutes. I saw you dancing with this J.L. King guy.
Jennifer (seems confused at why Jack is so worried) - Jack, that was nothing.
Jack - I know. You stay away from him. That guy is bad news!
Jennifer - I'm helping Hope to investigate him...
Jack (interrupts her) - NO! NO! It's too dangerous!
Jennifer - Jack, don't worry!
Jack - I'm always gonna worry about you!
Jennifer (takes a deep breath and pauses for a couple seconds) - Listen. I have a feeling that you didn't hear something I said to you on the phone last night.
Jack (looks at the guard who is about to grab the phone from his hand) - Jenn, the guard's here. I gotta go...
Jennifer - Wait Jack! I want you to know. (she pauses to take a deep breath before saying the next few words) Jack, I love you.
Jack's mouth is wide open for a second. He is completely startled by her comment. He looks like he is about to hyperventilate. LOL! Trying to compose himself, he responds back "I love you too, Jenn." (The guard grabs the phone from him) I gotta go." (guard hangs up the phone).
Jennifer looks relieved and smiles as she hangs up the phone. The guard walks away and Jack is standing there with his hands on his waist. Jack is out of breath from all the excitement that he just experienced ;-) He stands there for a couple seconds and has this confused look on his face. He looks like he's thinking "Did I just hear that right? Did she just say she loves me?" LOL! His reaction was so funny! Imagine the poor guy had to wait years to hear her say those words to him, and she admits her true feelings to him while he's in prison. How typical of this stupid show! She should have told him before he went to prison! Oh well! At least she told him, so that's all that matters. That's the last scene of the episode.
