[Jack and Laura are still kissing when Laura pulls away]
Laura - (flustered) What made you do that?
Jack - Monica, don't analyze it. Just go with it. For once,
just go with it.
[Jack pulls her close again and kisses her]

[Jack and Laura continue to kiss until Laura, again, pushes him away.
She stares at Jack,
shocked about what was happening. Then she looks down at the
ground and smiles]
Laura - I'm not analzying, Clark. I was just wondering why you
did that.
Jack - I had to. When you opened up to me and told me about your
fear of intimacy, I just had to
show you what a truly attractive and desirable woman that you are.
Laura - Well, that's very sweet. But you don't have to flatter
me.
Jack - (laughs) It's the truth! If you don't believe me,
ask that guy you mentioned.
Laura - (pauses) Daniel?
Jack - Yes, Daniel! Call him. Ask him out!
Laura - (hesitates) No, no, I couldn't do that.
Jack - Sure you can. You'd be surprised how easy it'll be.
Laura - Well, if it's so easy, then why don't you ask your wife out?
Why don't you call her?
Jack - My wife.
Laura - Mm. (gives him a challenging look)
Jack - Well... okay! All right. I will! (smiles
at her)

[Jennifer and Peter are at Jennifer's house, sitting on the couch and
kissing. The phone rings
and Jennifer gets up and answers it]
Jenn - Hello?
[Jack hears Jenn's voice and freezes]
Jenn - Hello?

Jenn - Hello, is anyone there? Look, if you're not gonna speak,
I'm just gonna hang up. Do you
hear me?
[Jack, unsure of what to do, hangs up the phone]
Laura - Your wife wasn't home?
Jack - Oh, she was home.
Laura - (confused) But you didn't speak to her.
Jack - I was not prepared for the way her voice would affect me.
I didn't say a thing.
Laura - Well, you should call her back right now.
Jack - No, no, no.
Laura - Yes!
Jack - Calling is not the answer. What I need to do is see her
and face her. Then she can see
how I've changed.
Laura - (smiles) That's even better!
Jack - Yeah. I'll arrange a meeting.
Laura - Do you want me to arrange it for you? I mean, I could
call her and prepare.
Jack - Thanks for offering but I think I'd rather have my lawyer back
his liaison in this case. And I
have his number in my room. (looks at Laura and smiles)
Excuse me.
[Jack walks out of the garden]

[Jack is in the garden now with Ned, his lawyer. They shake hands]
Jack - So Ned, thanks for coming by.
Ned - I'm always happy to help if I can.
Jack - All right. Take care.
[Ned leaves as Laura walks into the garden]
Laura - Was that your lawyer?
Jack - Yes. And he's going to arrange a meeting with my ex-wife.
Laura - Well, so why do you look so nervous?
Jack - I'm afraid I'll blow it.
Laura - Just relax and think positive thoughts. You know what,
I have a feeling that there's an
angel watching over us today.

[Laura calls Daniel and asks him out on a date. Much to her delight,
he accepts]
Laura - (to Jack) He said yes!!
Jack - (hugs her) That's terrific, Monica. You're gonna
make it!
Laura - (pulls away) Clark!
Jack - Yeah?
Laura - Do you realize what you just did?
Jack - What?
Laura - You hugged me!
Jack - (surprised) Yeah, I guess I did.
Laura - First a kiss. Then a hug. Hmm. That's pretty
darn good for someone who hates that
kissy feely stuff.
Jack - You're right! I'm doing okay!
Laura - (laughs and hugs him) Oh, your wife is going to be so
proud of you, Clark, when she
finds out just how much you've changed.
[Jack, hugging Laura, smiles with a look of determination in his eyes]
