This episode, which was transcribed by Sandra, took place while Marlena was already kidnapped in Paris (June 24, 1996). This is one of the best Jack & Jennifer episodes involving Mark and Stephanie. They were both together for the entire episode, without Peter in their scenes. And the 'sparks' were flying between them.....
Show starts with Rachel lying on the couch having a nightmare. Strangely enough, the nightmare involves Jack, Jennifer, Peter and Rachel all wearing white clothing. I guess Rachel really has a "thing" for white clothing ;-)
Rachel's Nightmare:
Laura - "Jack, you were right all along. Peter was the man meeting Jude St. Clair."
Jack - "I KNEW IT!"
Peter looks stunned.
Laura to Jenn - "Sorry, darling. Peter's been lying to you from the very beginning."
Peter - "Jenn, it isn't true!"
Laura (pointing to Peter and yelling) - "It is true! And I have it from a very good source - Rachel, your OWN mother!"
Peter (shocked and looks at his mother) - "How could you do this?"
Rachel (crying) - "I didn't want to, Peter, I swear! I didn't want to, but it was the drugs that Laura gave me during our sessions. I was only trying to help Johnnie find out where Stefano had taken Marlena. I never meant to hurt you..."
Peter (interrupts Rachel. Looks at Jennifer) - "Jenn!..."
Jennifer (sounding disgusted) - "Stay away from me.."
Peter (sounding desperate) - "No! I can explain!"
Jennifer (screaming) - "Everything you say is a LIE! I never will trust anything you ever say again..."
Peter (yelling over Jennifer, sounding desperate) - "I LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU -- YOU'RE MY LIFE! I DON'T WANT TO LOSE YOU!"
Jennifer (crying and yelling and pointing at Peter) - "You already have! I'm filing for divorce and I don't want you near me or Abby ever again!"
Peter (looks completely shocked and shaking his head) - "No! No!"
Jack (walks to Jennifer and puts his hand on her waist) - "Come on Jenn, let's go home."
Jennifer (walking away with Jack, Jack has his arm around her) - "I never should have doubted you, Jack.
Laura walks out of room, also comforting Jennifer. Peter looks shocked and upset as he watches them all quickly leave.
Peter - "No! No! (turns to Rachel) I'VE LOST EVERYTHING BECAUSE OF YOU! (very mad) I'm never going to forgive you, mother. NEVER!"
Rachel wakes up from her nightmare and screams "NO!" She is crying and hysterical. Scene ends.
Peter and Laura have a discussion the entire episode as Peter tries to get Laura to admit what she found out from Rachel at her session with Rachel. By the way, this is also the episode where John has those "VR goggles" and is watching Marlena taking a shower in her "golden cage" in Paris. Stefano is in the cage, leering at Marlena, while she is showering in a little stall that has no ceiling -- talk about disgusting! Don't know why I'm mentioning this here, but I thought it was kind of a strange-looking scene.
Anyway, now for the good part of the episode -- Jack & Jennifer's scenes:
Scene begins with Jack standing on a ladder, painting the outside of the Horton House. Jack is wearing blue jeans and a loose-fitting white t-shirt. The shirt is kind of half tucked-in (I guess so it'll be easier to take it off ;-))
Jack (after brushing some paint on house) - "Not bad, if I do say so myself." (Jack walks down the ladder)
Abby and Jennifer come outside and Jennifer is carrying a tray of cookies and lemonade.
Jack - "Hey, watch out, wet paint! Be careful, Abby, be careful."
Jennifer is really smiling. She is wearing blue jeans and a pink long-sleeved shirt.
Jennifer (to Jack) - "We brought you cookies and lemonade."
Jack (walking towards Jennifer, who is placing cookie tray on table) - "Thank you."
Jack (to Abby) - "Did you bake those cookies?"
Abby - "I helped Great-grandma bake them."
Jack - "Oh, you helped Great Grandma bake them!"
Jennifer holds up cookie plate to Jack. Jack says "These look delicious" and he takes a bite out of the cookie. With his mouth still full (Oh Jack, haven't you learned table manners? LOL! Just kidding!) he says, "And they are delicious! These are my favorite. How did you know that?"
Abby - "Mommy told me."
Jack (looks directly at Jennifer) - "Well, your mommy knows everything about me."
Jennifer looks very uncomfortable with Jack's comment because he does have this flirtatious tone to his voice as he's speaking about Jennifer and looking right at Jennifer. Jennifer doesn't say anything and tries to change the subject by offering Jack a glass of lemonade, which he accepts and drinks. He thanks her for the lemonade and cookies.
Jennifer (starts to walk away) - "Well, you earned it!"
Jack (begins to follow Jennifer) - "Yeah, I earned it."
Jennifer starts to walk up the ladder while Jack is standing directly below. She tells Jack he "missed a spot." Of course, Jack disagrees with her. But then Jennifer points out the spot that he missed and Jack says "okay, I did miss a spot". Jennifer begins to paint over that spot.
Jack (turns towards Abby, while still near the ladder) - "Look Abby! Did you see that? Your mom -- she's incredible. She can take something good and she can make it even better! Now let me help you with this..."
Jack raises his hands towards paint can, and somehow Jennifer manages to spill the paint all over Jack. Silly Jennifer -- I'm sure it was an honest mistake on her part..... It's not like she was trying to find a way to get Jack's shirt off ;-)
Jack has paint dripping down his head. He's not mad though. Jennifer climbs down the ladder and goes "Oh, Jack!" She starts to laugh. Jack says he "feels ridiculous". Jennifer laughs and says "You look ridiculous." Jennifer takes Jack's hand and walks over to Abby to show Abby how her father looks with paint all over his hair and face. Jennifer takes a napkin off the table and wipes the paint off Jack's face, etc. She's still laughing. Scene ends.
Next scene, Jack & Jennifer are both using napkins trying to wipe the paint off him. Jennifer asks Abby if she'd go and find some shampoo for Jennifer, so Jack can wash out the paint from his hair. Abby runs off.
Jennifer, looking a bit embarassed, says to Jack (who is wiping the paint off himself): "Okay! Umm.. take off your shirt!"
Jack (he suddenly looks up towards Jennifer and seems confused, wondering if he heard correctly) - "What?"
Jennifer - "Take off your shirt."
Jack still seems confused. He looks at Jennifer, kind of hesitates, and then attempts to take off his shirt. Suddenly, Jack lets out this big "OWWW!!". Jenn goes "What?" and he responds, "I don't know. My shoulder hurts from working." (He's looking at Jennifer as if to say "Hint hint, Jennifer! I need you to help me with something.")
Jennifer - "Alright, well, I'll help you."
Jennifer takes off Jack's shirt. Just as his shirt has come off, Jack leans very close towards Jennifer's face and stares directly at her eyes. She also looks directly at his eyes, then looks down at the ground for a second, and then back at his eyes. She seems like she is lost in his eyes, for a moment. Jack does not stop looking at her. He looks as though he wants to kiss her right there and then. They both remain silent, for a couple seconds, and continue to stare. But finally, Jennifer says "Oh, this shirt is ruined." and she walks away. Jack looks a bit disappointed as reality sets in yet again and he realizes Jennifer is still hiding her obvious feelings for him. Jack is still looking at Jennifer, who has walked away, and he seems a bit overwhelmed as he is trying to hold back his passion for her. He is now standing across from Jennifer. Abby comes outside to give Jennifer something. Then Jenn asks Abby for some towels so Abby leaves again.
Jack complains again that his muscle is strained in his arm. He is rubbing his arm and trying to show Jennifer where it hurts him. This is becoming quite a common complaint for him, isn't it?! Guess he wants Jennifer to do yet another favor for him! LOL!
Jennifer (trying to act very professional with Jack, although she seems a bit uncomfortable being around Jack when she is having trouble hiding her feelings for him) - "Okay, well, why don't you sit in the chair and I'll wash your hair."
Jack - "You'd do that for me?"
Jennifer (small smile) - "Well, I mean we have a shoot tomorrow. I can't have my co-host going around with paint in his hair. Here (Jennifer hands Jack the shampoo)."
She walks away. Jack walks to the chair and has a seat. Jennifer arrives with a garden hose. Jack pours shampoo on his head. Jenn warns him that the water might be a little cold. She turns on the water and Jack jumps in his seat because the water is indeed cold. She asks him "Is it cold?" and he responds "Yeah, it's cold. It feels great! It's cold!" (Huh? How can it "feel great" when "it's cold"? LOL! I think Jack is referring to something else, because the camera goes close up to his face and we begin to see him have a dream about his time at the Horton Cabin when he was married to Jennifer)
Jack & Jennifer's Dream:
Jennifer is wearing a bikini and is walking towards Jack with a tiny little bucket of water. Jack is sitting on this chair on the beach, with his eyes closed, wearing these brown swim trunks and no shirt. He sits up straight in an effort to improve his posture, and tilts his head back in anticipation of having his hair washed by Jennifer.
Jack - "Is that you, Jenn?"
Jenn - "Mmm hhh."
Jack (leans his head further back. He still has his eyes closed. He has a small grin on his face) - "Okay..."
Jennifer is now standing behind Jack and says "Are you ready?" He says "Yeah." She pours the water over his hair and asks him if it's too cold. And he goes "No, it's not cold. It feels great!" (Same line that he just said to Jennifer before his dream)
Jennifer (still pouring water over his head. She's smiling and says in a sexy voice) - "Sit back and enjoy."
Jack (eyes still closed) - "You know, Jenn, I think I love you more, right now, than ever." (Jennifer is repetitively stroking the back of his head. Her hands trail down to his shoulders and she starts massaging them.) Jack opens his eyes and sounding serious continues, "I don't want this day to end."
Jennifer (still behind Jack, leans over, smiles and whispers in his ears, with her hands still massaging his shoulders) - "We still have tonight..." (She puts her lips on his ear)
Jack gives a sexy smile, after hearing Jennifer say that, and says "yeah..."
Jennifer gets up and takes a towel and starts drying off Jack's hair. Jack is still sitting on the chair and Jennifer walks in front of him. The towel is completely covering his head. Jack leans forward and grabs Jennifer by her thighs and she falls down on his lap. Jennifer laughs. She is now sitting on Jack's lap, looking directly at him. She takes the towel off his head and they begin to passionately kiss. Jack has his hand on the side of Jennifer's face. And Jennifer has her arm around Jack's neck. Dream ends....
The camera suddenly shows Jennifer's face. We are back to "reality" at the Horton House and Jennifer is still washing the paint off Jack's hair. She looks like she's in a trance and we realize that she has just had the same vivid dream that Jack has had about their time at the Horton Cabin. She looks down at Jack and continues massaging his hair. The camera lowers down towards Jack's face and we can see he has this slight grin on his face. He gives this sexy "look" with his eyes -- well, I guess we know what he's been thinking about ;-) The camera lifts up again and shows Jennifer still massaging/rubbing Jack's hair and staring off into space. She is obviously off in "dreamland" thinking about her and Jack at the Cabin. Scene ends.
Next scene. Jennifer tells Jack that she rinsed off the paint from his hair. She asks him if he can dry off his hair and he says yes. Jack gets up from his chair and thanks Jennifer. They are standing across from each other. He smiles and says his shoulder feels better already (Gee, how convenient that his shoulder suddenly got better AFTER he had Jennifer wash his hair ;-)
Jack (water is dripping down his head and body) - "This reminds me of the time we were up at Alice's Cabin. You washed my hair outside then too. Remember?" (Jack gives a small smile)
Jennifer (smiling but looks a bit uncomfortable because she is obviously trying desperately to hide her feelings for Jack) - "Yeah, I remember."
Jack (still smiling) - "Yeah, it was a great day.... (Jack raises his arms to push his hair back because his hair is still dripping wet) It was a great night too." (Jack looks at Jennifer as if he's trying to say 'You remember our great night too, don't you, Jennifer?')
Jennifer (sounding serious) - "It was a long time ago, Jack. You know, a lot has changed since then."
Jack (looking a bit sad, nods his head in agreement) - "Yeah, but it's nice to have the memories"
Jennifer is speechless. She is looking at Jack. Jack is looking at her. There is a small pause and Jennifer, obviously feeling uncomfortable, excuses herself saying that she's going to see why Abby is taking so long bringing those towels. She quickly walks away. Jack is watching her walk away and seems kind of sad. Scene ends.
Next scene begins. Jack is outside all alone now. His back is to the camera and he is still shirtless. He's moving the ladder over to the side of the house. His jeans are wet... I'm surprised he didn't ask Jennifer to help him put on a new pair of blue jeans saying his shoulder hurt him again -LOL!
Jennifer walks outside and offers Jack a towel and blue shirt.
Jennifer - "Here. This shirt was Grandpa's"
Jack (takes shirt) - "Great. Didn't we give this to your grandfather?"
Jennifer (smiling) - "Yeah, for his birthday one year. It was one of his favorites."
Jack (laughs) - "Well, it's probably because you gave it to him."
Jennifer seems pleasantly surprised by Jack's compliment, but she doesn't say anything.
Jack (kind of hesitates) - "Look, Jenn, if it makes you feel sad, I won't wear it."
Jennifer - "Oh no! (smiling) I'm sure Grandpa wouldn't have minded. He liked you, Jack."
Jack (puts on shirt) - "It's funny. I just got the impression that he didn't think (Jack starts to smile) that I was worthy of his grand-daughter."
Jennifer (smiles back at Jack and kind of laughs) - "Well, I mean, I think there were times when he didn't approve of your behaviour. But, underneath, I think he knew you were a good man. He was the one that told me not to give up on you no matter how mad or upset I got."
Jack (seems very serious. He is probably thinking about what a jerk he used to be to Jennifer) - "Yeah, well, I have to hand it to you, Jenn. You... you hung in there... A lot longer than I had a right to expect. (pause, looking directly at Jennifer) You're a good person, Jenn."
Jennifer (seems embarassed by Jack's compliment. She kind of smiles) - "Well, whatever I am, I owe it to the way my grandparents raised me. That's why I'm so glad that Grandma's a part of Abby's life. You know, with an influence like that, Abby will grow up to be the best person she can possibly be."
Jack (smiles) - "No, it's not just Alice's influence. It's yours. (looks more serious again) Abby is a very, very lucky girl to have you for a mother."
Jennifer (smiles back and looks directly at Jack) - "Well, she's lucky to have you for a father."
Jack smiles and seems really touched by what Jennifer is saying to him.
Jennifer is smiling and continues, still looking directly at Jack - "Since you've come back, you've been really wonderful with her."
Jack (seems speechless for a second and looks surprised by what Jennifer is saying to him) - "It umm.. means a lot to me to hear you say that."
Jack looks directly at Jennifer. Jennifer looks at Jack and kind of has a smile on her face. The camera shows Jack again and he is still looking at Jennifer, obviously still very 'moved' by what Jennifer has said to him. They are both not saying anything. Alice walks towards the outside and tells Jennifer that Peter has called for Jennifer saying he and Laura have gone over to visit Rachel because she's upset about something. Jennifer decides to go over and find out what's going on. Jack is obviously listening intently to this and seems very interested in what Rachel may or may not be saying to Laura and Peter. Jennifer asks if Alice can watch Abby and Alice says that's fine with her. Jack says that's great because he can give Jennifer a ride over to the DiMera mansion, because he has a few things he'd like to ask Rachel (LOL! Yeah, I'll bet he does!) Jennifer hesiates. And Jack says reassuringly "No, no, I'll behave. I'll behave." Jennifer kind of smiles, thinks for a second, and then agrees to allow Jack to come with her to visit Rachel. Jennifer excuses herself to go say goodbye to Abby.
After Jennifer has left, Jack says to himself - "So, Rachel's upset. I bet it's because she told Laura something about Peter that she shouldn't have. (Jack smiles and folds his arms) I just have to find out from Laura what that was." Scene ends.
Next scene Laura admits to Peter (after Rachel allows her to) that Rachel told her that she saw Peter meeting Jude in Aremid, after all. Peter looks worried. My tape has cut off the rest of the episode. I don't have the next episode, but I believe Jack goes to the DiMansion and tries to grill Rachel about Peter. Laura, Jenn and Peter try to keep him away from Rachel but he somehow manages to sneak into the room and really starts pressing Rachel for info. about Peter, which makes her upset. I believe someone walks in and finds Jack bothering Rachel and gets furious about it. Jennifer then tells off Jack yet again, and I think she says something to the effect that she thought Jack would behave and not act pesky, but he obviously hasn't. Then Jack seems disappointed that all that "progress" he made with Jennifer at the Horton House has been erased by what happened at the DiMansion with Rachel. Anyway, that's all.
