This is an episode summary of a show from August 5, 1996. This summary was transcribed by Sandra...
Scene begins after Bo & Hope have arrived at their surprise engagement party, planned by Franco. This scene takes place at a warehouse, but the room looks more like a community centre room or something. Everyone has just said "Surprise!" and congratulating Bo & Hope by hugging them. Jennifer is in a very good mood now.
Hope to Jennifer: "Hey is Jack here?"
The smile on Jennifer's face disappears and she says: "Uh, Franco invited him but I haven't seen him yet."
Peter gives a toast with champagne to Bo & Hope. Jennifer also toasts them too saying they hope they have more happy and loving times together.
Next scene, Jack arrives at the party with Sharon. They are holding hands. Jack is wearing a beige-colored suit and white shirt. Sharon is wearing a golden-colored mini-dress. Jack scans the room to see who's there (I guess he realizes he missed saying "surprise" to Bo & Hope). He walks over to Alice who is sitting down, and he is still holding Sharon's hand:
Jack (smiling): "Mrs Horton! How are ya?" (Jack bends down to give Alice a hug and kiss on the cheek)
Alice: "Fine, Jack, dear!"
Jack: "I'd like to introduce you to Sharon Taylor."
Sharon says "It's a pleasure" and shakes Alice's hands.
Jack asks Alice why Bo & Hope have already arrived at the party 15 minutes early because I guess he realizes he's late for the "surprise" party. Jack excuses himself and says he wants to go introduce Sharon to the people at the party. Sharon has her hands on Jack's shoulder for a second as they're walking away.
Jennifer finally enters the room again (she was out of the room when Jack walked in). She is standing there with Peter. She turns around and suddenly notices that Jack has arrived with Sharon. Jennifer has a slight surprised look on her face and is noticeably jealous that Jack is there with another woman. Peter can sense that Jennifer is jealous of this.
Peter: "I see Jack brought his lady friend."
Jennifer (has a fake smile on her face, but you can tell she's jealous because she has a very curt tone to her voice): "Yes! He did!" Scene ends.
Next scene begins. Jack is off at some corner of the room having a great time dancing with Sharon. He is smiling and having fun. Sharon has her arms around the back of Jack's neck. Jack has his arms around Sharon's waist and they are looking like they are really enjoying each other's company, especially Sharon. Jennifer has just walked away from Hope and was laughing. She walks to this table with food on it and notices Jack and Sharon doing their "sexy" little dance off in the corner. This is so funny -- Jennifer grabs this piece of food off the table, and without taking her eyes off Jack & Sharon for a split second, takes a bite out of the food and looks VERY jealous and upset about seeing Jack with another woman and having such a good time.
Peter still can see Jennifer staring at Jack & Sharon and he walks over and offers her champagne. She gives a small smile and says "Thank you" to Peter. Peter asks Jennifer if she remembers their engagement party. And Jennifer, trying to sound happy, says "Of course I do. It was lovely." Peter says his life has never been happier since he met and married Jennifer. She says she feels the same way and they kiss. But then as she stops kissing him, she looks over his shoulder and is still staring at Jack & Sharon who are still having a great time dancing. Jack is smiling a lot too. Jennifer pulls away from Peter and the expression on her face turns sad again, although she still tries to smile and pretend that she's having a great time at the party. Jennifer then makes a toast to her and Peter and she drinks the champagne. But again, her eyes turn towards Jack & Sharon dancing. Scene ends.
Next scene Jennifer arrives at Alice's table. Bo is there talking to Alice. Jennifer is smiling and says this is a "great party." Jennifer takes a seat at the table. Suddenly, a big laugh can be heard and everybody at the table looks up and realize that it was Jack that laughed. He is joking around at a part of the room with Sharon and Franco. Again, Jennifer's facial expression suddenly turns jealous when she turns around to see Jack laughing with Sharon.
Bo to Jennifer: "Jack seems to be having a good time with that new woman... umm... Sharon. Is that her name?"
Jennifer (fake smile): "Yeah! She's nice. I'm really happy for him." (But the tone of her voice is definitely one of jealousy. She takes a sip of her champagne).
Bo (sensing Jennifer is not telling the truth): "Are you?"
Jennifer (trying to force a smile on her face): "Uh-huh! I'm glad that he's finally moving on with his life."
Bo: "Yeah, well, it must be difficult to see someone you once loved with someone else."
Jennifer (nods her head to disagree with Bo. She is still trying to force a smile on her face, but Bo and Alice can tell it's really bothering her to see Jack with another woman): "I'm fine with it" (she lets out a small little fake laugh)
Alice looks at Jennifer with a "Jennifer, dear, you don't have to hide your feelings from us" kind of look. Jennifer feeling uncomfortable with Bo's questions (because Bo is trying to get her to admit she's jealous of Jack and Sharon) gets up, gives another fake smile, and excuses herself from the table.
Bo to Alice, after Jennifer leaves table: "Uh oh! I don't know about you but I don't think Jennifer's as happy about Jack moving on as she says." (Alice agrees with Bo. As Bo is saying this to Alice, Peter is off at the side of the room overhearing Bo saying that to Alice. He is visibly angry and jealous about this. Scene ends.)
The very next scene shows Jack walking up to Hope saying that it's a "terrific party". Hope agrees and says she's glad Jack is having a great time. Hope asks if Sharon is having a great time too and he says she is.
Hope to Jack: "You two seem to really be hitting it off."
Jack (looking down and not seeming as happy about his relationship with Sharon): "Yeah, she's a lot of fun" (His tone of voice makes it obvious that he's not having the great time he looks like he's having with Sharon)
Hope (giving Jack a look as if to say to him 'Are you sure you're telling me the truth about your 'great time' with Sharon?') : "Uh huh!"
Jack (still can tell he's lying by the tone of his voice): "Great company!"
Hope (smiling at Jack as if she's saying to him that she can tell he's lying through his teeth): "Oh yeah!"
Jack (starts to crack a smile because he knows Hope can tell he's lying to her): "Look, if the.. umm.. question you're asking me is whether or not I'm over Jennifer, the answer is no. Ah... (takes a deep breath).... I don't know if I'm ever going to get over her. (Jack gives a fake smile, but you can tell he's visibly upset)
Hope: "I know that, Jack." Scene ends.
Next scene shows Maggie and Mickey discussing how they have a free ticket to "The Salem Club" for a romantic dinner, but how they won't be able to make it to the dinner because of Mickey's work committments. Peter is overhearing their conversation and looks like he is getting another idea to get Jack to stop thinking about being with Jennifer. Peter walks up to them and asks if he could make a suggestion. We don't hear what that suggestion is, but the very next scene has Mickey and Maggie offering Jack this certificate for a free romantic dinner. Jack is smiling and says he couldn't take it because it's too generous. They're like "We insist, Jack!" Jack goes "Alright, alright. If you insist!" and then he smiles and shakes Mickey's hand and takes the certificate. He turns around and asks Sharon if she'd like to go and she says "I'd love to". Jack and Sharon both laugh and smile and walk, with their arms around each other's waists, out of the room. Jennifer is standing behind them watching them walk out so happily -- I guess she heard Jack ask Sharon if she'd like to go out for dinner with him. Jennifer is giving this "evil smile" look as she's watching Jack & Sharon leaving. Peter is off in the corner looking very serious. Jennifer leans down towards her grandmother, who is still sitting at the table and says in a sad tone "It seems Jack has really moved on." Alice asks Jennifer how she feels about this and Jenn responds with a "Oh, I wish him all the happiness in the world, grandma." But Jennifer's tone of voice sounds sad. Peter, still off in the corner, hears Jennifer say this and gives a slight look of relief. The very next scene shows Maggie talking to Mickey.
Maggie: "I think Peter is still uneasy about Jack's feelings for Jennifer. I mean, that's why he suggested giving Jack and Sharon that certificate for dinner."
Mickey (seems surprised): "You think Jack is a threat to Peter and Jennifer's realtionship?"
Maggie: "I think Jennifer... Oh, I know she loves Peter. But she and Jack were once very much in love. And they were as happy. I mean a child brings a certain bond between a man and a woman."
Mickey: "Yeah, well I can see why Peter would be happy to see Jack get involved with somebody else."
Maggie (looking at Jack & Sharon in a corner of the room talking to each other): "Yes, so is that what Jack wants?"
Mickey and Maggie look at Jack and Sharon and give each other a look as if to say "It's hard to tell if Jack has really moved on with Sharon."
That's the end of the scenes involving this storyline for this episode.
