Jennifer, Laura and Abby are alone in their house, sound asleep.
Peter has put his plan into
action and is inside their house. He has a hypodermic needle
and is ready to kidnap Jennifer
and Abby. The house is dark and Peter is being very quiet.
He slowly starts to make his way up
the stairs when somebody walks through the front door. It's Jack.
Jack - What in the hell do you think you're doing?
Peter - (panics and whispers) What am I doing? What
are you doing here?! Jennifer threw you
out so get outta here Jack!
Jack - (calmly) Oh, I'm not going anywhere. I know what
you're trying to do, Peter. You got a
plane ready to take off. You're gonna go kidnap Jennifer.
Peter - (rolls his eyes) Youre crazy. Get outta here!
Jack - Oh, maybe. But you're not taking her anywhere. (he
reaches into his overcoat and pull
out his gun and points it at Peter)
Peter looks scared when he sees the gun. Cut to Jennifer in bed,
fast asleep. If she only knew
what was going on downstairs.
Peter - You're out of your league, Jack. Now back off.
Jack - No. (continues to point the gun at Peter) You can
forget whatever it was you were
planning for tonight because it's not gonna happen.
Peter - What are you gonna do...... shoot me, Jack?
Jack - If I have to.
Peter - You've interfered in my life for the last time, Jack.
Peter lunges at Jack. They both bang against the front door as
they continue to struggle with the
gun. They both fall to the floor as a gunshot is heard.
Jennifer is awakened instantly by this and
sits up in her bed.

Jennifer rushes into Laura's room and wakes her up. She tells
Laura that she heard a gunshot
downstairs. At first, Laura shrugs it off and says it was just
a big truck outside. But Jennifer tells
her that it was gunshot. Laura quickly sits up and worries about
Abby. Jennifer tells her that she
just checked Abby and she's okay. What are we gonna do now?
Jennifer hears footsteps
walking towards them. She panics and says that she's going to
get Abby. Jennifer runs to the
door and runs right into Jack.
Jenn - Jack!
Jack - (a little stunned, says quietly) Jenn...
Jenn - (sees blood all over Jack) Oh my god, Jack. You've
been shot!!
Jack looks at the blood on himself but doesn't say anything. Everything
is happening so fast that
he's still trying to comprehend what's going on.

When we get back to them, everything is in complete chaos. They
are all frantic. Jack is inside
the room now and is leaning over. Jenn grabs his arm so that
she can get a good look at him.
Jenn - Jack, you're bleeding!!
Laura - You've been shot?!
Jack - (pushes Jennifer away) No, I'm not shot. I'm fine. I'm okay, I'm okay.
Jenn - No, but I heard a gunshot! It came from downstairs.
Jack - (still in a panic) It did. Downstairs.
Laura - Well, where did all this blood come from if you haven't been shot.
Jack - It's Peter. Peter was shot.
Jenn - Who shot Peter?!!
Jack - I SHOT HIM! I SHOT PETER!!!
Jennifer looks at Jack in shock. Then we see Peter downstairs
lying on the floor, unconscious.

Jenn - You shot Peter?!
Jack - (more calm) I had no choice.
Jenn - Well, what?!!!!!
Jack - (frantically tries to explain) I came home and I saw him
on the stairs and we struggled.
He was coming up here to get you and Abby. I know it! And
I tried to stop him, we struggled,
and the gun went off!!
Jenn - (worried) Well, is he.... is he......
Jack - No! I don't know!! Laura, you gotta get down there.
Laura - (holds up her medical bag) I've got my bag.
Laura leaves the room as Jennifer rushes after her. Jack grabs
Jenn's arm.
Jack - Jenn, wait.
Jenn - (pushes Jack away) Let me go, Jack!!
They all run downstairs. Jack turns on the light and Peter is
nowhere to be seen. Laura runs
into the kitchen to look for him.
Jenn - Where is he, Jack?!
Jack - (points to the floor) I left him right here lying on the
floor....... (looks around) Where is
he?
Jennifer stares at Jack like she can't believe he doesn't know where
Peter is. She is furious.

Jack - He was right here.
Jenn - Where?!
Jack - He was right there, Jenn, when I left. He wasn't even moving!
Laura - (comes out of the kitchen) Where is he?
Jack - That's what we're trying to figure out right now.
Laura - Look, he's not here. I checked the kitchen.
Jack - (looks around) He must have just gotten up and left!
Jenn - Jack, if this is another one of your games...
Jack - You think I'm making this up?!
Jenn - I don't know!!!
Jack - I'm telling you, he was here.
Jenn - Why was he here? Why were you here?! You moved out of this house.
Jack - I found out that Peter was coming to get you and Abby. I came here to protect you.
Jenn - (steaming) Oh, not this again.
Jack - Jennifer, he was gonna take you and Abby away. He was gonna kidnap you.
Jenn - That is absurd!! I can't believe you!!! What, you
get a crazy idea in your head so you
shoot Peter?!!
Laura - STOP IT! Look!! (points at the floor) Blood!
They see the blood stain on the floor. Jennifer rushes upstairs
saying that she's going to change
so they could search for Peter. Jack and Jennifer both go outside
in the rain and begin to look
for him. Jennifer wants to call the police but Jack refuses.
Still outside in the rain...
Jenn - Jack, we've searched the entire park and Peter's not here.
Jack - Where could he have gone?
Jenn - I don't know. He could be anywhere.
Jack - Let's go look at the pier again. Come on. (he begins to leave but Jenn stops him)
Jenn - No, Jack! Now, come on! We can't search this entire
city by ourselves. We gotta call the
police.
Jack - No! Not yet. If we keep looking, we'll find him.
Jenn - Why are you so adamant about not calling the police?!
Jack - Jenn, I told you. If Peter knows the police are after him,
he's gonna go underground.
We'll never find him.
Jenn - We are wasting valuable time because of this crazy idea that
Peter was gonna kidnap me
and Abby.
Jack - It's not a crazy idea!! That's what he was planning to do!
Jenn - How do you know?!!
Jack - Because I talked to the clerk at the airport. His private
jet was on hold. He was planning
to leave in one hour.
Jenn - That doesn't mean anything, Jack! God, he could've
just decided to do the right thing
and leave Salem!!
Jack - With you and Abby!!!
Jenn - Jack!! We're wasting time! He could be bleeding to death!
Jack - Well, let's keep looking for him!! (he tries to leave but
Jennifer holds him back and stops
him again)
Jenn - NO!!! Now come one, we can't do this alone. We gotta
call the police. (she now starts to
leave but Jack holds her back)
Jack - Jenn, wait.
Jenn - What?!!
Jack hears something.
Jack - What's that?
Jenn - What?
Jack - Wait here. (he walks away)
Jenn - (right behind him) No, I'm coming with you!
Jack and Jennifer stop dead in their tracks when they see Peter lying
on the ground
unconscious, bleeding pretty badly.
Jenn - (clinging on to Jack's arm) Oh my god...
