This summary, which was transcribed by Sandra, is an episode from June 7, 1996. This episode happened right before Stefano kidnapped Marlena and took her to Paris....
Scene opens with Jennifer and Peter in the her house, sitting on the couch. The phone rings and it is Stefano calling from prison. Jennifer answers and Stefano asks for Peter. Jennifer tells Peter it's Stefano on the line, just as Jack is entering the room, after coming downstairs. Jack, hearing this, walks towards Peter to listen to his phone conversation. Scene ends.
Next scene begins. Jack and Jennifer are standing near Peter, listening intently to his telephone conversation.:
Stefano - "Peter, I want you to defend me at my arraignment"
Peter (talking quietly) - "Yeah, well I don't want to have anything to do with you."
Stefano - "Look, if you don't want certain confidential information revealed, you will come down here -- fast." (Stefano hangs up telephone)
Peter hangs up telephone and looks very worried. Jack is standing nearby with his hands on his waist.
Jack (smiling): "So, what did Daddy want, Peter? Let me guess -- a corrupt attorney!" (LOL! THAT was a good line)
Peter ignores Jack's comment and speaks to Jennifer instead. Jack is standing there listening and has this HUGE smile on his face. He is obviously very happy that Peter is getting involved with Stefano because this helps to prove his story about Peter to Jennifer.
Peter (looking very serious and worried): "Jenn, I have to speak to Stefano."
Jennifer (shocked look): "Why?
Peter: "Because I think I can help in the case against him. He trusts me.."
Jack (interrupts): "For a good reason too, I might add.."
Peter speaking to Jennifer, clearly ignoring Jack's comments: "I think I can get important information from him."
Jack (again interrupting Peter): "Like what, Peter? Like how to commit a murder and get away with it?" (LOL! What a funny comment! Except it's kind of ironic hearing Jack say that since we know that he is currently in jail for "murdering" Peter)
Peter (loudly): "LOOK, JACK, WILL YOU JUST SHUT UP!!"
Jack raises his arms as if to say "okay, fine! I won't say anything". But Jack has this smile on his face because he is quite happy to see Jennifer angry about Peter's decision to even go down to that court to meet Stefano.
Jennifer: "How can you even look at that man.. after you know what he did to your mother? And you know what he tried to do to Marlena."
Peter: "Jenn, that's why I want to see him punished. (pause) You have to trust me that I know what I'm doing, okay?"
Jennifer (seeming a bit calmer): "Alright."
Peter (to Jennifer): "Okay, I'll see you later." (he gives her a very small kiss on the lips and leaves)
Jack watches Peter as he leaves the house. He turns around towards Jennifer and again has this small smile on his face.
Jack: "Well, you know what this means, don't you Jenn? Peter and Stefano are still connected."
Jennifer, for some reason, looks a bit surprised by Jack's comment. I don't know why she would be since Jack has said this to her about seven thousand times previously - LOL! Scene ends.
Next scene has Jack & Jennifer arguing
Jennifer (argumentative tone of voice): "Peter went to go talk to Stefano. It doesn't mean that he's going to help him or that he's still connected to him."
Jack (sarcastically): "Right. And there really is a man on the moon."
Jennifer (interrupts Jack): "Oh see, you're impossible, Jack!"
Jack: "No! You know I'm right, you just don't want to admit it."
Jack and Jennifer look mad and are staring at each other. Laura walks through the door and hears this. She interrupts their argument:
Laura: "Admit what?"
Jack: "Admit that Peter just got a call from Stefano and ran off to help..."
Jennifer (interrupts Jack): "Which is not true! He went there to talk to him and THAT'S all."
Jack (big smile, and looking at Jennifer as if to say "don't you get it?!"): (sarcastically) "Oh yeah! Right! (louder voice) Peter is going to be Stefano's ATTORNEY!"
Jennifer: "He WON'T Jack!"
Laura (sounding like a mother interrupting an argument between two siblings): "Oh stop it! Both of you! (pause) Kristen called. They're planning a farewell party for Marlena and her mom. I think we should ALL go and behave."
Jennifer (fake smile): "You know, I'm not in the mood for a party." (She walks away towards door) I'm going to go help Peter at the courthouse."
Jack (turns around towards Jennifer): "That's good! Because when you get there, you'll find out that I'm right."
Jennifer turns towards Jack, but doesn't say anything. She then quickly walks out the door.
Laura: "Jack, ALL you do is make her angry!"
Jack (kind of smiling): "No, no, she's not angry. She's just upset. She knows I'm right about Peter. She's going to find out the truth about him and I want to be there when it happens."
Laura looks completely shocked at how confident Jack is about being able to expose Peter's connection to Stefano. She is speechless. Jack turns around and walks out the door. Laura looks mad but she is also almost laughing because she knows Jack is going to fail yet again in proving his story about Peter. Scene ends.
Next scene is with Peter and Jennifer arriving at the courtroom. The courtroom is packed and Stefano, in handcuffs, is awaiting the judge. Peter confidently approaches Stefano.
Peter (to Stefano, sounding very confident): "I came here to advise you to avoid a long and painful trial by pleading guilty." Peter begins to walk away. But Stefano starts to speak which causes Peter to turn around.
Stefano (mumbling so that nobody can hear him): "Peter. Do you have some kind of crazy......death wish or something? I know everything there is to know about you."
Peter (half-smiling and also says very quietly): "I made my decision. Don't forget (he points to Stefano) -- I can play your game too." (Peter gives an 'evil' look to Stefano and then turns around and walks away.)
Peter walks to Jennifer and says "Let's get out of here." Jennifer gives Peter a hug. She looks very relieved that he is not defending Stefano. Peter looks relieved that Jennifer believes his story. Jennifer tells Peter "let's go home" and Peter agrees. As he's about to leave, Peter looks confidently towards Stefano, who is a distance away, as if to say "I'm not afraid of you, Stefano" Stefano is staring right back at Peter and looks mad at him. Peter leaves with Jennifer. Jack, who is standing there, watches as they leave and looks quite disappointed. Jack has this "I can't believe this!" look on his face. Poor Jack fails to prove his story about Peter yet again. Jack leaves the courtroom. Little did Jack know he'd be in that courtroom a half a year later defending himself against murder charges.
Next scene is with Jack arriving at the Horton House. Hope is in the kitchen and opens the door for him and they greet each other by saying "hi!". Jack asks if Mrs. Horton is around. Hope says Alice isn't there.
Hope asks Jack why he's there.
Jack (big smile on his face): "I was just looking for a sympathetic shoulder to cry on."
Hope: "Mine's available" (Hope pats her shoulder offering it for Jack)
Jack (still smiling): "Oh yeah?"
Hope (sounding concerned): "What's wrong?"
Jack: "Well everytime I seem to get close to nailing Peter he somehow just weasels out of it."
Hope: "I'm really sorry, Jack, but what is it this time?" (Is Hope trying to say that Jack is starting to sound like a broken record? LOL!)
Jack (sounds more serious): "Look, it doesn't matter. What are you doing here anyway?"
Hope: "Bo and I had a fight and I moved off the boat and spent the night with Gran."
Jack (seems quite surprised): "Wow! Sounds like some fight."
Hope tells Jack about why she's mad at Bo -- because Bo suspended her from the police force in order to keep her out of danger.
Jack (smiles): "Hope. Bo loves you. He just wants to keep you safe. I can understand that. (sounding serious) That's why I'm not giving up until I get Jennifer and Abigail away from Peter."
Hope: "You really still think he's dangerous, don't you?"
Jack (sounds very serious and looks very concerned): "More than ever. I think he's getting more and more like Stefano." Scene ends. Next scene shows Hope and Jack sitting at the kitchen table watching a press conference from Bo about why he suspended Hope from the police force. Jack doesn't say anything. The scene ends and that is the last scene.
