This is the episode from April 16, 1997, after Jack's appeal was turned down by the judge. Jenn and Laura are in the living room of Jenn's house drinking tea (What else would they drink in Salem? ;-) They sit down on the couch. This episode summary was transcribed by Sandra...

Laura - I can't believe the judge turned down Jack's appeal.

Jennifer - Mom, Jack's gonna spend the rest of his life in prison. (starting to cry) When I took Abby to visit him, she didn't understand why he couldn't leave. She took his hand and said "Come on Daddy, let's go home."

Laura (puts her arm around Jennifer to console her) - Darling. I just feel so frustrated. I just know that there's...... something locked in my subconscious that could help Jack's case. If only I could remember....

Lynn (listening to them, and thinking to herself) - Well, you're never going to remember anything as long as you take these pills, Laura. You won't remember that Stefano and Peter are alive. Or that Kristen helped them to erase your memory.

Lynn reminds Laura -- for the millionth time -- to take her pills. Lynn leaves the room.

Jennifer - Somehow, I have got to find a way to get Jack out of prison.

Laura - We will, darling. I..... I will just work harder at remembering (she smiles at Jenn and consoles her again) Scene ends.

Next scene, Jack is lifting weights (barbells actually) in the prison rec. room. Jack is all sweaty and looks very angry about something. Clearly he is mad that his appeal didn't work. Travis is on the stationary bike also lifting a barbell.

Travis - You're upset about losing your appeal, Jack?

Jack - I'm just worried about what it's gonna do to Jennifer and Abby. I love them, Travis. (stops lifting the weights and looks at Travis) But I can't take care of them while I'm in prison.

Travis - Yes, you can. I know a way.

Camera shows a close-up of Jack's face. Hmm.... he's very sweaty ;-) He looks very confused at what Travis is saying. Scene ends.

Next scene, Jack puts down the barbells and walks over to Travis who is still on the bike.

Jack - Travis, so you know a way that I can take care of Jennifer and Abby here from prison.

Travis - Yes, I do, Jack. But you're not going to like it.

Jack - Well, tell me what it is.

Travis - You have to let Jennifer go. Let her get on with her life.

Jack gives Travis an "are you crazy?" look - LOL!

Jack - No, no, no, no. I tried that once before. Jennifer said she loves me. She's loyal to the people that she loves.

Travis - Jack, you're in prison for life. She can never be with you. (Jack is looking down at the ground and seems very upset by what Travis is saying) Are you just gonna let her throw her life away?! (Jack is still not looking at Travis and seems very disturbed and worried about what his "therapist" (LOL!) Travis is telling him.)

A prison guard tells Travis he has a call from the phone in the rec. room. Travis gets up from his bike to take the call. Travis gets the phone and it's Bart, Stefano's pawn, on the line. He's calling to remind Travis to continue working to "undermine" Jack & Jennifer's relationship. Bart reminds Travis that Stefano's son Peter is alive. (Hmm... how could Travis be Peter if Bart would say that to him? Of course, the writers will conveniently forget they wrote this line!) Travis says don't worry, because he won't stop until he has broken up Jack & Jennifer for good. Travis hangs up the phone and looks at Jack who has picked up the weights and is lifting them again. Jack looks quite angry and it looks like he's releasing his anger by lifting weights. Scene ends.

Next scene, Jack & Travis are sitting in their prison cell. Travis is continuing his "therapy" sessions with Jack (he's like Jack's marriage counsellor - LOL!). Jack is sitting on his own bed. The dialogue is so funny because of how Travis is playing mind-games with Jack.

Jack (staring at his pictures of Abby and Jenn) - Jennifer and Abby mean everything to me, Travis.

Travis - That's why you have to let them go.

Jack (turns so he is now looking at Travis) - Without them, I've got nothing left to live for.

Travis - Let me tell you a little story, Jack. I once knew a murderer, a lifer just like yourself. (Jack is listening really closely to his 'wise' cellmate. He looks very sad) He had a wife and kids. He loved them as much as you love Jennifer and Abby. The wife, she stayed real loyal. She wrote him every day. Spent every cent she had on lawyers. She never stopped trying to get her husband out of jail. (Jack is still listening to and looking at Travis, but has his head leaning against the wall of his cell and his arms folded. He is looking incredibly depressed) He never got out, Jack. The wife -- she got old, bitter. And she grew to hate her husband. Waiting for him had robbed her of a life. If you don't let her go, that's exactly what's gonna happen to you and Jennifer.

Jack (sounds very mad) - Why don't you just shut up?

Travis - Jack, I'm only trying to....

Jack - I SAID SHUT UP!!

Jack lies down on his bed. Travis looks at Jack and then gets this incredibly evil-looking smirk on his face. He's very proud of himself because his mind-games are working on Jack. Scene ends.

Next scene, Jack quickly gets out of bed because he can't seem to get what Travis just told him out of his mind.

Jack - You're wrong, Travis. Jennifer would never become bitter and resentful.

Travis (gets out of his bed and walks to meet Jack in the centre of the cell) - That's what the other guy thought too, Jack! He was wrong. And so are you. (Jack is looking at Travis and he is clearly upset by what Travis is telling him) I didn't tell you about his kids.

Jack - Well, what about them?

Travis - They wound up hating him too. (Jack looks really upset and worried now) 'Cause they knew that loving him had destroyed their mother's life. So do the right thing, Jack. If you truly love Jennifer and Abby, let them go. (Jack is looking at Travis and he seems like he has tears in his eyes. Stupid Travis knows exactly which buttons to push to get Jack all upset and worried. What a jerk!)

Jack (trying to stand his ground, but he's beginning to believe Travis) - I told you Jennifer said she loved me. I told you how loyal she is. Just because I ask her not to, doesn't mean she's going to stop loving me.

Travis - No. But she could. If she fell in love with someone else.

Jack looks at Travis and clearly seems sad and bothered by that idea. Scene ends.

Next scene, Jack turns around at looks at the wall of his prison cell and stares at pictures of Jenn and Abby.

Travis - Did you hear me, Jack?

Jack (shouting) - Yes! I heard you, Travis! I don't want to think of Jennifer falling in love with some other man. I already went through that pain once when she fell in love with Peter. I don't want to go through that hell again!

Travis (sounding mad) - Alright! I guess you don't love her as much as you said you do, Jack (What a jerk! I can't believe he just said that to Jack!) (Travis walks away)

Jack (shouting) - What are you talking about?! (Jack turns to face Travis) I love her more than life itself!!!

Travis - Then, you should want her to be happy (Jack is really paying attention to Travis and looks like he is believing everything that Travis is saying) Let her build a new life for herself. Have a relationship with someone who can give her the things you can't.

Jack - Travis, you talk like her falling in love with somebody else is up to me. Now just saying 'OH, JENNIFER SHOULD BE IN LOVE AGAIN!' it won't make it happen.

Travis - Of course it won't. You have to take action!

Jack (looks completely surprised by that comment) - What are you talking about?

Travis - YOU have to find someone for Jennifer to love.

Jack is looking at Travis with a mad and confused look on his face. Scene ends.

Next scene. Travis gives Jack his "intelligent" advice for how to help Jennifer move on with her life ;-) This scene is funny!

Jack - Travis... I'm in prison. Okay. Even if I wanted to, how am I going to find a man for Jennifer to fall in love with?

Travis - If it was possible, would you do it, Jack?

Jack - Well, what's the point, Travis?! It's not even possible! (Jack turns around about to walk away)

Travis - It is! (Jack stops walking and looks at Travis, very interested in Travis' "brilliant" idea)

Jack - Well how?

Travis - We get time on the computer every week....

Jack - Right, right...

Travis (lifting his fingers to dangle them in front of Jack) - We got the whole world at our fingertips, Jack...

Jack (starts to laugh because Travis sounds like a nutcase! LOL!) - Right, right...

Travis - The internet! You can surf the net and find a guy for Jennifer!

Jack (looks horrified at that suggestion and shouts) - Are you crazy?! You want me to find a stranger for the woman that I love!!

Travis (shouts back at Jack) - Do you want her to be happy or not?!

Jack (still shouting) - Yes I do!! But not this way!!

Travis (now calm again) - Hey... just an idea, Jack.

Travis walks away because he knows he's done his job playing these "mind-games" with Jack. Jack stands there looking mad, although it looks like he's seriously considering what Travis just said. Scene ends.

I don't have the next scene on tape. But, from what I remember, Jack is sitting in a room at the prison and tells Travis that he thought about it and has decided to give Travis' "wonderful" internet idea a try. I can't believe how stupid this show is! I hope you all got a good laugh from reading this episode! I thought it was rather funny how gullible the writers had made Jack in this episode and others that followed. Jack used to be so smart and perceptive and determined. And ever since he went to prison, his personality had drastically changed. Talk about character assassination!
