Tips for the Kingdom of 43:9:
BASIC TIPS (you MUST follow these)
1) Choose a specialty. Be smart about it. Your specialty should depend
on your race.
-
If you're an Orc, you shouldn't be a thief because Orcs make the worst
thieves.
-
Orc, Avian, Dwarf, Undead and Humans make good attackers (I've ranked
them in order of best attacker race)
-
Halflings, Faeries, Elves, Dwarves & Humans make the best thieves
(ranked in order of best thief race)
-
Elves, Faeries, Halflings & Dwarves make the best mages (ranked
in order of best mage race)
2) Develop a build strategy for your province that suits your
Race & specialty
-
Building types that are mostly useless for anybody are: Barracks &
Hospitals. You should never need Barracks ever. Hospitals should only be
used if you're getting gangbanged. Undeads should never build hospitals
or farms.
-
Building types that are mostly useless for attackers are: Watchtowers,
Mills (should only be used in early stages of game, or if you are making
heavy changes to your build strategy), Universities (see note 7 on Science
pumps), Schools (better to use strongholds).
-
Building types that are useless for explorers are: Strongholds &
Stables.
-
DO NOT build a little bit of everything. You need to build a good
% of buildings that will add value to your province.
3) Sending out attacks
-
Read carefully through the detailed instructions on how to make attacks.
You'll find this in the Kingdom "tips and FAQ" thread
-
Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you be sending out more than half of your
army. A rule of thumb is that you should at all times have 2 thirds of
your total army at home. If you send too much of your army away on an attack,
you will leave yourself open to multiple attacks from enemies.
-
Wait for your target to send out their troops first. It'll be a rarity
for you to find a target that has close to the same land as yourself but
who is safely breakable with all of their defence at home.
4) High NW/acre
-
You need to keep yourself from looking like an attractive target. This
means that you should not be landfat. This means that you should have close
to a 200 gc networth for every acre of land that you own. This ratio is
only true in later stages of the age. At the beginning of the age it can
be much lower (closer to 100gc/acre to 120gc /acre)
IMPORTANT TIPS (your choice)
5) Explore vs. Attack
-
It's ALWAYS better for new players to explore. Even experienced players
do badly as attackers. Exploring is a safe and relatively quick way of
growing your province.
-
It's better to choose certain races if you're going to be an Explorer.
Faeries, Halflings, Avians, Elves & even Undeads can make good explorers.
-
The Kingdom has set a rule that all new players should set theexplore.
If you choose to ignore this rule, you run the risk of not receiving kingdom
aid.
6) Going all elite
-
For the most part it is best to go all elite. This means you should
only train thieves and your most expensive military units.
-
Elite units are: Dwarfs=Berzerkers, Orcs=Ogres, Avians=Drakes, Elves=Elflords,
Halflings=HalfGiants, Faeries=Beastmasters, Humans=Knights
-
If you're Avian or undead and you only plan on exploring, you should
build only defence specialists (Avian=griffens/Undead=archers).
7) Science Pumping
-
Your sciences can be a usefull way of making your province run faster
(better economy & bonuses). It's best to spend as little gc (gold coins)
as possible on your sciences though, so to make the best use of your gc
you should do what is referred to as a Science Pump.
-
This involves having 20% of your buildings set up as Universities. This
will significantly reduce the cost of the science points. You should try
to get your Utilization as high as possible (shoot for 110%) by having
a low draft rate leading up to your science pump. You should release excess
soldiers too, in order to increase utilization.
-
Try to cast the Mind Focus spell as well, this will allow you to get
more science points.
-
Once everything is set up (20% Unis, max Utilization, Mind Focus running),
you should invest as much gc as possible in sciences. Start with the sciences
that you think will be most important for your strategy (ie: if attacker,
max population & military sciences; if thief/mage max crime and magic
sciences etc.) It's always good to have high alchemy and population sciences.
-
Spend about 3-4 full days investing in sciences, ask the Kingdom for
aid and let us know in advance that you intend to do a science pump so
that we'll be prepared to help send you gc.
-
Once you're done, change your buildings back to your normal setup.
8) Never attack our allies.
-
There is a list of our current allies in the "allies" thread in the
forum. I suggest that you print it off and keep it near your computer.
9) Think before you act
-
Before you make an out of war grab, think about the consequences
-
When you want to mouth off at an enemy, think about what he/she will
do back to you
-
Don't cheat, you'll get caught eventually
-
Don't cause unnecesary arguments in the Kingdom. Your opinion is always
welcome, but be respectful and remember that the Kingdom needs to be able
to work well together.
