QUOTE:
"Soap Actors are fun and interesting. They all have something special that you want to be around."
Imbarassing Moment - From Seventeen Magazine:
"I'd spent a great day hanging out with this girl. I knew she was going out with a friend for dinner that night, so I picked flowers from my neighbours's yard and biked to the pizza joint. I walked in, gave her the flowers, said,'A flower for a flower,' and walked out. She obviously didn't dig it, because she ignored me after that."
From All About You Magazine - November 1995
HOW HE FELT ABOUT BECOMING THE NEXT AUSTIN REED:
"I put all my positive energy into the audition. I believe in destiny...and I knew this was my part. I was walking down the street in the East Village [in NYC] where I was living, and there was this overwhelming feeling that I got the part. So I called my agent on a pay phone on Spring Street and West Broadway and found out I was right. In four days I had to move to California."
MOTHER LOVE:
His mother, Clare, also acts and he looks to her for guidance. "I know from my mom that acting is a never-ending process. She's now at the point in her life where she's so trained, she's got ther craft down and she's focused.
MODEL MOVES:
Before landing his role on Days, Austin did lots of modelling which took him to Paris, Milan and Italy.
CHARACTER STUDY:
"I know he [his character, Austin Reed] was abused by his father, and that he was once involved with drugs and boxing, and yet somehow he's not violent. There has to be a reason for it. I t doesn't work to be aware of his past and then ignore it. I'm trying to find a reason for why he is who he is, considering all he's been through.
WHAT IT WAS LIKE TAKING OVER A PART THAT WAS PLAYED BY MELROSE PLACE'S NEWEST RESIDENT, PATRICK MULDOON.
"A little bit like being shot out of a cannon. Everyone has such high expectations and you have to throw so much into the part and still maintain a certain caliber because the role already existed.
FUTURE PREDICTION:
Austin's relationship with Carrie will be put on hold due to the meddlesome plotting of Sami, Lucas and Vivian. But just when things look as if they are definitely doomed, someone special arrives on the scene to come to their rescue. Will wedding bells ring in December?
