"Love and Hope"
By Carolyn Hinsey (executive editor of SOD)
The revelation that Billie was pregnant with Bo's child on Days of Our Lives put a slight crimp in Hope's plans to reconcile with her former husband. But Hope's portrayer, KRISTIAN ALFONSO, has no problem with her characters true love cheating on her.
"Lets face it," sighs Alfonso. "The audience does not want to see a happy couple baking muffins every day. What keeps Bo and Hope interesting to me is that one-upmanship they share. They are both feisty and passionate. They will take each other beyond the limit and have fun with each other."
Hope hasn't been having much fun lately, though. For months, she kept repeating lines like, "I can't wait to get back together with Bo so we can be a family again." But that has changed, Alfonso reports with a laugh: "My new one is, 'He's out of my life for good!'"
Hardly. Days executives know Bo and Hope are a couple with a decade of rooting value behind them, so they aren't about to have Bo stay with Billie for long. Hope, however, is another story. "I think it's about time a woman had three men after her, instead of all the women after the men," Alfonso says.
Current candidates include Bo (of course), John and Franco.
"I don't think the story line with Franco and Hope really works," she says candidly. "Franco is almost too easy. I think they are great friends. And obviously, Hope's heart is always going to be with Bo. He really challenges her."
As for John (played by DRAKE HOGESTYN) Days toyed with that pairing last year when they sent Hope and John into the jungle. "I have to tell you, I had a ball in that jungle," says Alfonso. "I loved working with Drake, I didn't have to worry about makeup, I put my hair in a ponytail, I threw on those great Donna Karan (combat-type) clothes and I put on hiking boots. I love that type of storyline. It was physical, and it was different."
