Character Name

William (Billy) Kronk, Jr.

Portrayed By

Peter Berg

Occupation

General Surgery/Trauma

Love Interests

The first known love interest of Billy was "Annie", who turned out to be Billy's friend Andy from school who had a sex change. Then he once slept with Kate Austin but then ended up suing her for sexual harassment. He's mainly been involved with Diane Grad since towards the end of season 2, whom he married in the 4th season and they had a daughter - Emily.

Family

Billy was born and brought up in Chicago by his Dad - William Kronk, a heart surgeon (who now has Alzheimer's) and his mother - Beverly Kronk (a world traveler - Billy doesn't have a particularly good relationship with her). He is married to Diane Grad, and has one daughter, Emily.

Other Information

Billy's parents were rich but he preferred to hang out with the tougher elements of the crowd - like Bobby Trenkwada, who he ended up accidentally sticking in jail. He went to Northwestern and worked in Euclid as a cardio- thoracic surgeon. On his move to Chicago Hope Hospital, he shifted to General Surgery and Trauma. His radical procedures, like sawing off a man's leg at a bar, earned him the reputation as the 'cowboy' of the hospital. He was good friends with Danny Nyland, who he had to share an apartment with after his apartment building burnt down, and Dennis Hancock. After Emily was born Billy stayed home with her for some time, then got back to work. Most recently at the end of Season 5, Billy and a handful of other doctors were fired by Jeffrey Geiger, ending the role of one of the show's best characters. Billy's passion outside of medicine is ice hockey.

Other Projects by the Actor

Peter Berg has decided to turn his career more towards directing than acting. He has, however, been in several movies, as well as being in a Gap advertisement on television.
