Two words. Jake Marshak. Two more words. Great hair. These four words, when combined, describe a most attractive young man who once flourished in the labs at General Hospital and later elsewhere. Young Jake was quite promising, although sometimes possessing actions or words very slightly akin to those synonymous with the Gang of Idiots. He had so much to put up with. First of all, he had to deal with have Karen working in the lab with him, who always brought in Joe. When Karen and Joe were in the lab, 99% of what they did was make out. Of the remaining amount of time, Karen either whined about Jake's lack of ethics or cared for Fred (although I do love that cute little Ferret). In addition, our poor friend Jake Marshak was also sadly manipulated by all of Rex, Danielle, and later Lark. We, the faithful watchers of PC thought he had faced enough trials and tribulations for awhile. Then, the impossible happened. Innocent Jake was hung at the Nurse's Ball.
Now, you may think from all of the things that I said above, that I lament Jake's death because of his kindness and the hardship he faced in his life. That is incorrect. As a matter of fact, as a character, Jake didn't really have all that much potential. Port Charles viewers did not lose a key character at the Nurse's Ball. No. What we lost was a great head of hair on a handsome man. The murder has gone too far now. S/he has wasted some really fantastic hair!
