I admit it has taken me a surprisingly long amount of time to write this rant. Actually, Julie Morris-Devlin has been seriously bugging me ever since I saw the pilot episode of Port Charles. The truth is, long before she was a serious serial psycho and before she went insane and much before she got kidnapped by Greg Cooper, Julie was very very very annoying. Julie whined constantly, made snivelly faces all the time, and had a serious identity problem. Of course, it doesn't help that she was paired with Frank, who is perhaps the second most annoying character after Julie herself. This made the pair despicable.
At any rate, I am thrilled with Julie's recent problems. Although I was disappointed that Rex did not appear throughout the General Homicide story, and that Bennett Devlin had to be murdered by fountain pen, making Julie the killer was a very clever idea. Killers have to be put in jail, (or mental institutions, in Julie's case), and since she is a killer, Julie gets to go away. Now I know that this is not the last that we will see of Julie Morris-Devlin. But getting rid of her for at least a few weeks is a much needed break for all Port Charles viewers. Watching Julie everyday leads me, and I presume other viewers, to moan incessantly and use our fast-forward VCR buttons far too often. Now that she's gone, we're all free of the pain that she caused us. However, I'm greatly concerned that Julie has passed on all of her undesirable qualities to other characters on the show and the annoyingness of these qualities is being amplified by the original annoying quirks of each character who has received JULIE QUALITIES. I greatly fear that we will never see the end of Julie. She lives on in Frank, and all the people who ever lived at the Scanlon house or worked at General Hospital.
