Catherine (Cat) Margolis

Family:Mother Teddy, father Mitch.
Facts:Cat spent most of her life on the road with her mother and learned many of her bad habits but also learned to take care of Teddy when she was drunk. Cat is angry with Teddy for making her have such a difficult young life. Cat lives with Frankie and Mitch. Cat went away from home for college.
Mitch Margolis
Portrayed by:Ed Marinaro
Family:ex-wife Teddy, wife Frankie, daughter Cat, his mother appeared once on the show.
Facts:Owns a fish shop, currently lives with Frankie and Cat. Mitch is Jewish, but not really practicing.
Other Projects by the Actor:I think, although I am not positive, that Marinaro appeared in the television show Laverne and Shirley.
Beatrice (Bea) Reed Ventner
Portrayed by:Elizabeth Hoffman
Family:She is the mother of the Reed sisters, a widow.
Facts:Bea's husband had an affair which caused her to drink. After his death she met up with an old friend, Judge Truman Ventner, with whom she became involved and later married.
Reed Halsey
Portrayed by:Ashley Judd
Family:Mother Alex, father Wade
Facts:Reed spent half a year studying in France until she got kicked out, turned to drinking and smoking, and returned home with a French boy, Michel. She is angry at her parents and thinks that they have acted irresponsibly during the divorce. She got married to Kirby Philby when she was about 18 years old. She and Kirby moved to California when Kirby got accepted into film school.

Wade Halsey

Family:Ex-wife Alex, daughter Reed.
Facts:A plastic surgeon who had an affair with one of his patients, Tiffany Blue, an actress. He was once interested in cross-dressing.

Evan Whitsig

Family:Mother Georgie, father John, brother Trevor.
Facts:Evan was diagnosed with leukemia when he was nine and pronounced in remission on Thanksgiving after his tenth birthday.
Trevor Whitsig
Portrayed by:Ryan Francis
Family:Mother Georgie, father John, brother Evan.
Facts:Trevor is the older son of Georgie.
Detective James Falconer
Portrayed by:George Clooney
Family:Married to Teddy
Facts:A police officer, shot and killed. His heart was donated to a man named Jack Chambers.
Other Projects by the actor:George Clooney was a long-time cast member of the program ER and has also appeared in a number of films, including Out of Sight and From Dusk Till Dawn.
John Whitsig
Portrayed by:Garrett M. Brown
Family:Wife Georgie, sons Trevor and Evan.
Facts:A chartered accountant, although his true love is singing. His first professional singing job was to make a tape entitled: "The Sound of Whitsig", which sold many copies and got him a fan following. After Georgie leaves him, he pursues his singing, beginning with a song entitled "Thank you babe for leaving me". He dresses up as Santa Claus every Christmas. John was in a plane crash in South Dakota, but survived.
Dr. Gabriel Sorenson
Portrayed by:Stephen Collins
Family:last wife of Teddy, who was pregnant with their child when the show was cancelled
Facts:A neurosurgeon who saved Teddy's life after she was shot with her own gun.

Simon Bolt
Portrayed by:Mark Frankel
Family:Although we know very little about Simon's family, we do know that his brother died at a young age and that Simon came from a poor family.
Facts:Simon was a rich businessman who bought Teddy's business and later captured her heart. He proposed to her, and she initially accepted his proposal but then changed her mind. He was a perfectionist and a workaholic.
Facts about the Actor:Mark Frankel was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1996.
