For years, Jonathan Larson came ever closer to his masterpiece and on January 24, 1996, it seemed that hours of song writing, rewriting, and rehearsing finally paid off, the producers, cast members, everyone was impressed by the lively, sexy, hopeful rock opera on stage that night. Jonathan went home that night content and anxious for the following night's performance. It was hours later when his body was found on the floor, he was dead at 35. Jonathan Larson was an overnight sensation, after his death. Ironically, his death echoed the theme of his masterpiece, "No day but today."
