The Kitchens
Welcome to the Kitchens
Here you can check out the culinary delights that
Wendy and Kathryn will be presenting you with over
the course of the Convention.
We will also introduce you to our waitresses, and
allow you to sample some of the dishes.
For example, try our Chocolate Feast. Follow the
links to the recipes for Chocolate Feast: The Home
Game.
We also provide 24 hour Room
Service for all Convention guests.
TOUR OF THE CONVENTION KITCHENS
***************************************************
WELCOME, Ladies and Gentlemen.
We were sure you would like a quick tour of our magnificent facilities
here at The VR Convention Site.
Kathryn, Our Mistress of Edibles and Potables,
(that's grub, folks) has done an incredible job
of organizing such a large staff. As well,
she has managed to keep our Head Chef,
Maurice, from quitting! We all know how fussy Maurice is about his
food. Fitz and Methos
have been wonderful sous chef's. Not
that they listen to a word Maurice says, mind you, but they add a dash
of humor and a pinch
of panache (that's way cool, kids) to the
atmosphere.
PLEASE, PLEASE! Do not touch any of the pots, pans or accoutrements.
Not only
are they hot, but Maurice will whack you with his soup ladle. I told
you he was touchy.
Well, here is the main kitchen with the three double size ranges and
several refridgerators.
Note that Duncan's refridgerator, yes that small one in the corner, is
being used to fill the staff's bellies. Methos, will you put down that
beer and help Amanda at the salad bar? You
really have to keep on them, folks. It's
so hard to get good help these days.
Especially ones who look like this!
Dinners will be served continental style.
This includes your choice of appetizer,
soup, salad, main entree, cheese, fruit
and dessert. I prefer the Stuffed Mushrooms, myself, as an appetizer.
But this is VR land,
ladies and gentlemen. That means anything you choose is yours for the
asking. Sorry,
but Ducan, Methos, Amanda and the
kitchen staff are not on the menu and will not be free until dinner is
finished. Well, as Fitz
always says " You can't always get what you want. " Actually, I don't
think that was Fitz.
Anyway, we hope you like what you see.
We'd like to introduce you to our waitresses for
the evening.
OUR WAITRESSES
***************************************************
Please notice that all our waitresses are
dressed in the latest fashions...well actually
I'd have to say get-ups. They are so charming,
though, aren't they?
Here are a few tidbits about each of our ladies.
- AMANDA: You all are familiar with our beautiful
lady of the light fingers. Which reminds me...
ladies leave your handbags and jewels in your
room. Gentleman, keep those wallets close to you. The closer the
better for our single gentlemen. Amanda has chose a short (would
anything else do ) black dress with a frilly white
apron. Why she looks almost like a French maid! No, no Amanda I know
you were never
a maid. Touchy, touchy!
- CASSANDRA: Our next waitress is the famous
witch of Donan Woods. That can come in very handy if your food arrives
cold. One look
from Cassandra and your steak is piping hot.
I wish they knew that trick at our local restaurant. Although
Cassandra usually chooses to dress in long skirts, she has decided on a
shorter outfit tonight. In truth, we were
afraid she might trip over some of the gentlrmen's feet. They tend to
stick out in the aisle. She has a lovely burgundy dress that
shows some leg....well it is as long as her
nails, this is a family con. She, too, has
a white apron, minus the frills. Thank
you Cassie. Okay, I won't call you that ever again!
- KYRA: Kyra (is it Kira?) has not been with us
that long. But we've all found that if you prompt
her memory she is excellent at remembering
an entire table's orders."Perhaps the times she spent in the old
taverns of the past helps. It must be true that certain
things you never forget. Duncan is always reminding us of that. Kyra
prefers slacks to
skirts so she has on black leather pants and a matching vest. Honestly,
I don't know how she moves in those! Since she prefers high heels
I would suggest you order the cold menu items
from Kyra....just in case those backless heels
slip. Oh look, Kyra is showing us an appetizer of pate (chopped liver,
I think) shaped like
a butterfly. How interesting!
- KATYA: Our next waitress is perfect for this
job. She has a long memory and is wonderful with children. We've
chosen her to serve at
the childrens' tables. She has made miniature crossbows for each child
out of uncooked
cookie dough....how cute. Someone shold think of a dessert or ice cream
like that. They're
yummy. Katya is very flexible about her clothing. She is going to wear
a flame colored
dress to match that wonderful hair of hers. Oh,
she hasn't decided on whether to wear an apron or not. She and Duncan
are considering
it this very moment on the barge. He is so
helpful, a real Boy Scout.
- ALEX: Our last waitress also likes to be called Raven. I imagine
that's because of her long
black tresses. She hasn't had much training
as she has been auditioning for a part in
a very interesting show. She believes it's all wrapped up. We have no
words to express our
feelings, Alex. She tends to write your orders on a very long list, but
no worry. She hasn't lost
a dish yet. And she is marvelous with money.
Alex likes the casual look. She is wearing tight black slacks and a
white, open neck shirt. Her apron matches her blouse. Another get-up!
Food is included in your VR Convention registration fee. Feel free,
however, to tip
the waitresses if any of them are particularly helpful. I'm sure they
would appreciate it.
Many of them will be unemployed very soon!
Thank you for taking the time to tour our
Kitchens and meet the staff. I know you will
feel happy and safe now. No ecoli or staph
in these kitchens. Actually, no one has ever been sick at all. We
will see you all at meals
whether here in Seacouver or in Paris.
Yes, yes Maurice, we are all leaving now
so you can get on with that wonderful looking
Rack-of-Lamb.
SEE YOU ALL AT DINNER!
