Chapter Ten Alexis arrived early at the Spencer house. She parked her car and noticed Detective Taggert's car parked across the street. She walked over and knocked on the window. “You'd better have a very good reason to be parked in front of my client's house,” Alexis yelled. “I am making sure he doesn't skip town,” Taggert said after rolling down the window. “Get out of here now or I’m going to have your badge by the end of the day,” Alexis said coldly. She looked over and was startled to see a man who looked much like Luke, sitting next to Taggert. It didn’t take Alexis long to figure out who this was and fought the impulse to slug the bastard right in the mouth. “Mr. Spencer, you have done your job and it is now up to courts to handle the rest. What I said to the detective stands for you. I don’t want you near my client or his family until all of this is over. I hear one compliant and learn to like the in side of jail cell,” Alexis said and stormed off. Taggert and Lorenzo looked at her and knew from the way she acted she meant every word of it. Taggert decided he had stuck his neck out for this stranger long enough and started the car and drove off without another word. Alexis walked up to the house and knocked on the door. Laura opened it and said, “I don’t know what you said but thanks for getting rid of them. I don’t think I could have kept Luke in the house much longer,” Laura said and let Alexis inside. “Speaking of Luke, here is he?” Alexis asked. “I’m here. Where else could I go?” Luke complained as he walked out of the kitchen holding Lulu. He placed the little girl in front of the TV and put in the movie “The Little Mermaid” and motioned for Alexis to join him in the kitchen. They sat at the table and Luke asked, “What do you think of my chances?” “It all depends…”
