Chapter One After spending all summer acting like a fool and chasing after Sara Webber, Lucky Spencer spent the first day in school wondering how he missed her sister Liz. Right the girl was a little rough around the edges but so were the Spencers. Lucky walked home thinking of ways to get Liz to give him a second chance. He arrived at the house in a daze and he didn’t see the car just a few blocks down the road. Luke was due home any time now. He missed his father and his mother more. Lucky couldn’t wait for the Cassadines to get lost and let his life go back to normal. Lucky was surprised to see the prince at school and even more shocked that they were in the same advanced English group. Mr. Murty only took the brightest kids and he hoped Nikky boy could keep up. Lucky walked onto the porch and picked up the mail. He opened the door and found Foster waiting for him and from the looks of the house he forgot to feed the dog again. “Sorry, Foster. I forgot,” Lucky said and went to feed and water the dog before he got eaten for lunch. Lucky then cleaned up the house and started a load of laundry. Bobbie moved back to the brown stone and Lucky had the house to himself. He like it better this way. He loved his aunt but sometimes she went too far with the rules. Lucky sat down at the table and looked over the mail. He put the bills in one pile, the junk in the trash, and placed the strange box in the center of the table. Lucky looked at the box and wondered if it was a bomb or not. He listened for a ticking sound and even checked it out to see if it might blow if opened. When Lucky was sure the thing wasn’t going to kill him, he opened the box and looked at the letters inside. They were love letters written by his mother but Luke wasn’t the person she was writing to. It was Stefan. There also were pictures of Stefan and Laura on the island and in Canada. The letter explained it all. Dear Luke and Lucky, I thought you should know that Laura isn’t the person you think she is. Helena Lucky couldn’t believe what he saw. He read everything and wondered if this was true. Lucky sat at the table until late in the night. Luke arrived home about three in the morning and didn’t expect to find anyone awake. He jumped when he turned on the light and found Lucky sitting at the table. “Cowboy, you shouldn’t do that to me at my age,” Luke said jokingly. Luke got worried when Lucky didn't move and he walked over to see what was wrong. He picked up the letters and read them. They dropped from his hands one after the other. Lucky watched his father and wondered what he was thinking. Luke didn’t explode, he imploded. “Go pack a bag. Grab what you want to keep,” Luke said coldly and headed outside to the storage shed. Lucky packed a bag and grabbed a few things. He didn’t know where they were going or when they would get back. He never dreamed what was about to happen. He put the bags in the car and even put Foster in the back seat. He went to get his laptop and was surprised to find Luke walking around the house pouring gas everywhere. He had the computer in his arms and Lucky asked, “Dad, what are you doing?” “Go to the car,” Luke ordered. Lucky didn’t argue with him. He just ran out of the house and sat in the car to wait. Luke came out a few moments later. Lucky could see the cold look on his father’s face when he lit his cigar. Luke stood there for a long time and didn’t do anything but smoke then without a second look back, Luke stepped off the porch and dropped the cigar. The house went up fast because of the gas and the dryness of the wood. Lucky watched in horror as the house went up in flames. The only home Lucky ever had was gone and all because of his mother. They drove to Bobbie’s house and Luke helped Lucky get his bags out of the car. Lucky didn’t know what was going on but he did want some answers but the look on his fathers face made it to hard to ask. Luke didn’t knock he just walked inside and found a very shocked Bobbie getting ready for the morning shift. “Luke, what is going on?” Bobbie asked. Luke didn’t answer her he just dropped the bags and left. Bobbie looked at Lucky. “What happened?” “Dad burnt the house. Mom and Stefan are lovers. Nikolas is their son,” Lucky said, not know what else to say. “I think he is going to kill her.” Bobbie ran to the phone and called Sonny. She knew he was going to get married any day now but this was important. Lucky was right Luke might just kill Laura and Stefan and not think about the consequences until it was too late. She made the call and prayed it wasn’t too late. “Sonny?!” Bobbie almost yelled into the phone. “Bobbie? Do you know what time it is?” Sonny asked in a sleepy voice. “I don’t care what time it is. Luke is about to do something really dumb. He just found out that Laura and Stefan were lovers and he is going to confront her,” Bobbie said, very scared at the possibilities. She didn’t like Laura at this moment in time but she knew if Luke did this she could lose him for good. “He what? Dear God. Where is he now?” Sonny said, waking up fast. “I think he went back to the Carolinas to see Laura. Lucky says he just burnt the house down and then Luke dumped him off with me,” Bobbie said. “I will go myself. I'll try to stop him,” Sonny said and hung up the phone. Brenda looked at him and asked, “What is going on?” “Luke just burnt down his house. He found out that Laura and Stefan were lovers. He just might kill both of them if he isn’t stopped,” Sonny said getting out of bed and getting dressed. “I’m going after him. Luke is my friend and I might be the only person that could stop him.” Sonny kissed her good bye and then ran out the door. Brenda didn't’ blame him for hurrying. Luke wasn’t one of the calmest people she knew and if this information was true, all hell was about to break loose. Luke was so mad that he didn’t notice anyone around him. He just sat back and tried to get the words and pictures out of his head. He kept on praying this was some trick of Helena’s and that his Angel was the person he always thought she was. The plane landed in the Carolina’s early that morning. Luke rented a car and headed back to the house where he just left Laura. Laura got a visitor that morning and it wasn’t Luke. Stefan Cassadine stood in the back yard of the house and said, “I like it. At least this is warmer then the Swiss Alps.” “What do you want?” Laura asked. “I thought I said to stay away,” Stefan said. “I had no choice, Luke was the one that demanded we move,” Laura said. “He wanted us closer to him.” Luke didn’t hear the first part of this conversation but the last. His angry mind filled in the rest. “I don’t believe it,” Luke said stepping out of the shadows. He had a gun and it was pointed right at Stefan and Laura. “Luke? What are you doing?” Laura pleaded. “What am I doing?” Luke asked in a cold lifeless voice. “I find my wife being really nice to my worst enemy. I am the dumbest man on this planet. You didn't’ leave to take care of your mother but so you could spend time with your lover.” “My lover?” Laura asked still very confused about what was going on. “Spencer put down the gun before you do something you will regret,” Stefan said. “I don't’ think I would regret anything if I get rid of you and Laura,” Luke said and he cocked the trigger back. “Luke. Stop!” Sonny said grabbing the gun from his friend's hands. “I know you're mad and you have every right to be but this isn’t going to help anything. Think of Lucky and Lu,” Sonny said trying to get the gun out of his hands. Stefan waited until Luke was unarmed before speaking. “I was right. You are a mad man,” Stefan yelled. “You should be locked up.” Sonny grabbed Stefan and said in a very flat voice. “I am not going to listen to you. You say or do anything about this and you will deal with me. I have ways to make you vanish without a trace.” “You are just a hood. You don't know who you are dealing with,” Stefan said. “I’m dealing with a man that couldn’t find a woman and went after someone else's. You are nothing but a coward. You couldn't even claim your own son. I know an old Sicilian way of dealing with men like you. It is called a Sicilian neck tie,” Sonny said very coldly. “My son?” Stefan asked, as things started to fall into place. “Your son,” Luke said. “Nikky boy. Mommy dearest wasn’t as blind as me,” Luke threw the pictures on the ground and went to get his daughter. Laura looked at Stefan and then Luke. Sonny watched to see what she would do. She went after Luke and tried to talk to him. “Luke, listen to me. I can explain everything,” Laura pleaded as Luke started to pack Lulu’s bag. “You had your chance. You could have told me the day you first came back or after Stavros' death. Hell, you could have told me any time over the last sixteen years. I am not listening to you any more. Baby, you want the bat, you got him. I am not letting you or that family anywhere near my family again,” Luke said, as he grabbed Lulu and walked out. “NO. Luke, please!” Laura begged as he walked away. Luke handed Lulu over to Sonny and he removed his wedding ring. “You made a joke out of our lives, Laura. I did everything for you. You threw our love back in my face,” Luke said and let the ring fly. It landed right at her feet and Luke, Sonny, and a very upset Lulu walked off. “Let them go. We will get your daughter back,” Stefan said. “Get off me! I should have never listened to you. Stefan, get this; your little secret is out and you have no more control over me. I am not letting you destroy my family any more. I will find a way to get my sons’, daughter, and husband back without you,” Laura said and she picked up Luke’s ring and walked back into the house. Stefan watched her go and let her. He would deal with Laura and Luke later. He had to get to Nikolas before Helena made her next move. Stefan ran to his car and headed back to the airport. He didn't know what he was going to say to Nikolas but he had to think of something. Lucky didn’t sleep at all. He watched the door and prayed his father would start thinking again. Taggert called ten times that morning demanding to know where Luke was but Bobbie kept putting him off. She tried to get information from Jason but that was like pulling teeth. She watched as Lucky just sat and starred at nothing. She really felt sorry for her nephew. Lucky's life was gone and now it looked like things were going to get worse.
