Michael Madsen, John McNamara and David Simkins- 3/2/99 - 6PM PT
WB Host says: It's Showtime! Hello! and welcome to Warner Bros. Cybertalk!

Vengeance says: I think we've resolved all technical problems now.

WB Host says: Tonight we have the extreme pleasure to welcome three of the crew members of Vengeance Unlimited to our auditorium! Please join me in welcoming John McNamara, David Simkins and Michael Madsen from Vengeance Unlimited! ::applause:: For those of you wondering, the Vengeance Unlimited chat room is currently hushed to avoid interruptions in our chat tonight. This transcript will be posted at chat.warnerbros.com later tomorrow, as well as on the message boards at wbboards.warnerbros.com. So without further waiting... Hey guys! Glad you could join us!

Vengeance says: We're ready when you are.

chapelism asks: David & John are the efforts of the VU fans really having an impact on the future of the show?

Vengeance says: No.... (just kidding)

John: Absolutely. ABC is very aware of the loyal growing demographic and our discussions with them continue.

WB Host says: Hey guys, give me a "ok" when yer done with each question and I'll move things along quickly to get all these great questions in. :)

Vengeance says: okay

FlameFontaine asks: Michael I really like your poetry, Burning in Paradise is fantastic. Which poem sticks out as your favorite, and why

Michael: I haven't written my favorite poem yet, but I'm glad you like the book.

bateman asks: John, Dave is it true when you first introduced the idea for the show, some thought you were joking?

David: No. But it was conceived over a very casual lunch.

madsen1fan asks: Mr McNamara and Mr Simkins if they were surprised to discover the amount of loyal fans on the WB Boards

John: Yes. Flabbergasted. And we really appreciate your support.

MMT asks: Michael: Which is your favorite episode?

Michael: We're thinking.... hang on.... it's a tough one. I have a few favorites.

WB Host says: I think we'll come back to this one a little later - keep thinking Michael! :)

MarnWeeks asks: David and John Do you often work together? What are some other projects you have done?

David: Yes. We worked on Brisco County, Spy Game and Lois and Clark. Vengeance is our 4th collaboration.

WB Host says: Heres an interesting question for Michael...

AnnieM1013 asks: Michael, what is the best car you've ever owned?

Michael: Hmmm. A 1968 Roadrunner.

WB Host does a Roadrunner impression

scarlett2 asks: David or John Are you working on more scripts, and if so, can we have a sneak preview?

John: We are working on 3 new scripts. One of which is co-written by Michael. It is entitled... "Mr. Chapel Takes A Vacation" in which Mr. Chapel does not.

WB Host ponders

John: The others are "Trash" in which Mr. Chapel becomes white trash, to catch white trash... and.... the third is "POV" which we can't say much about without giving away the secrets.

WB Host says: Heres a comment for Michael...

MarnWeeks asks: Michael This isn't a question, but wanted to thank you for that poem about Blue... really helped me when my dad died recently.

WB Host says: And we'll follow it up with a question for him as well...

AnnmarieM asks: For Michael: Do you have an idea of your own about Chapel's past or doesn't really matter for the portrayal?

Michael: A heartfelt thank you. I had that dog for 15 years and it was a great loss in my life. And I'm not likely to forget it. I do have an idea in my own mind.... I think it's important that it's not really talked about. The writers and I feel that some things are left better not talked about.

WB Host says: The next question is for John and David...

MarnWeeks asks: John & David Will Michael dance in any of the new scripts?

John: Absolutely.

Michael: Hopefully not.

WB Host laughs

bateman asks: John, Dave where does Mr. Chapel's signature dialogue come from?

John/David: A lifetime of loving movie characters cooler than we are.

AnnieM1013 asks: Michael, considering your velvet growl, have you ever been approached to voice any animation, Disney or the like?

Michael: I've been trying for years to work on some voice-over characters in animated films; however.... I've never been offered the job.

WB Host says: Speaking of Michael's voice... or rather.. voices (my bad)

MarnWeeks asks: John & David Will Kathleen sing in future episodes?

David: If the plot demands it, then certainly.

Michael: Hopefully not :)

WB Host says: Ya know... Michael can dance... Kathleen can sing... sounds like a party!

WB Host says: Here's a question that I think everybody can answer...

Rizzo asks: Which actor or actress are you hoping to work with?

John: It's almost bad luck to answer that question. But on the Boards, a lot of the fans have talked about a number of actors we'd love to work with.

WB Host says: For those just joining us, can you let us in on the current status of the show and what we can all do to help?

John: We are not cancelled. ABC ordered 16 episodes. We shot 16 episodes. ABC aired 16 episodes.... Tue Mar 2 18:30:09 1999 Vengeance says: John: We are the only new drama on ABC to achieve that this season. ABC has until May to renew the show. If they do not... we will happily shop it to enthusiastic buyers. In the meantime, write to ABC and tell them how much you like the show. ABC is at 2040 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles, CA 90067 attention Stu Bloomberg. It will help.

WB Host says: Don't forget to join us on the Vengeance Unlimited message boards at wbboards.warnerbros.com if you didn't get all your questions answered tonight! :)

Friskyb asks: Micheal I really enjoyed your indie. fil "Grab Truck" was that different working on such a low-budget film?

Vengeance says: Michael: I've never heard of a film called "Grab Truck"

WB Host says: whooooops

Sushiman asks: Michael, do you have any pets and if so what kind and what are their names

Michael: We have dogs, cats, lizards, hamsters and we used to have birds, spiders, frogs and rabbits, all of whom hit the road in various ways. Too many to name right now.

Teeps asks: john or david Is there any hopes in getting a "best of" music from VU, the music is great

John: We would love to do that. If there is anyone out there with a record company..... all of us are very proud of the music we chose for VU.

chapelism asks: Michael you seem really comfortable with this character. Is Chapel someone you can relate to?

Michael: Yes, absolutely.

WB Host says: Here's a very good question for John and David...

MrChapel08 asks: Any plans to write a script w/ Chapel going after tv execs?

John: Laughs.....

WB Host says: heheheh

John: Michael says, and I agreee, it would probably involve a horses head.

BarbiK asks: Micheal I'm sorry I feel really stupid because I have not seen the show or even heard of it but I loved you in Free Willy and I was wondering if everyone in the movie enjoyed working with the whale?

Michael: No....laughs....it was an animitronic nightmare.

WB Host reminds Michael that was a WB movie.

Sushiman asks: who came up with the name "Vengeance Unlimited"?

John: That's a good story....John came up with Vengeance Inc., but didin't like it. David was throwing back some ideas about the show... and accidentally misspoke and called it Vengeance Unlimited. And it stuck.

chapelism asks: Michael, I understand you recently quit smoking. I just quit today, any advice on getting through it?

Michael: It's a long, hard process but once you've made the decision, don't give up. It gets easier the more time that goes by.

MarnWeeks asks: John or David Who conceived of quoting critics in "Critical"? It was priceless!!!

David: It was John.

madsen1fan asks: Michael if he has bought himself a computer yet?

John: And thank you to all the players and congratulations to the winners.

Michael: We are using it now, but it belongs to my son.

Michael, David &/or John Any buzz about Emmy nominations for VU?

John: We have just as good a chance as any other show on the air.....not...

WB Host says: Heres a three part question for Michael...

tomasita asks: Michael/ do you have any new movies coming out? what kind of music do you like?do you play an instrument?

Michael: I have 2 films in the LA Film Festival, "The Florentine" and "Fait Accomplis" and I like Frank Sinatra and I play the piano.

SuperFlex asks: how did you guys come up with the names of the characters? Did you just make them up or are they people you know?

David: In the case of Mr. Chapel, it was really just the sound of it. And there's no first name because we couldn't think of one. As for KC...

John: We wanted to call her Casey, but it looked too much like Chapel... so we went with KC.

bateman asks: to all: Mr. Chapel is very smart with gadgets. Can any of you program your own VCRs?

WB Host smirks

John: Only David. He is the Spock of our Enterprise.

madsen1fan asks: John or David if there is any thought to having VU merchandise for fans

John: We would love it. But it is strictly a Warner Bros. decision. They own Vengeance... and us. In fact they are putting Michael into a plastic cast as we speak, to make the lifesize Action Figure. Laughs

WB Host says: ooooh. Poseable?

John: That's the Mr. Chapel Lifesize Action Figure.

WB Host says: (come on, you were all thinking it)

Michael: Alrighty then....

MarnWeeks asks: Michael What do you think of cyberworld so far?

Michael: As long as I have Kathy Glynn at my side, I'll get along just fine.

guest37 asks: Michael: I love Kathleen York! Do you two have fun working together and joke around on the set?

Michael: Yes, we do. It helps the day go by and I was lucky to have her.

AnnmarieM asks: For David and John: We've seen quite a few shows resurrected in the past, saved by fans...what are our odds? Just so ya know, I took off work tonight to show my support!

John: First of all, from both of us, thank you so so much. As for the odds.... they're bad. However, the odds of actually writing a pilot, selling it and getting it on the air are worse. So, we like beating the odds and we expect to in this case.... and all of you are a huge part of that.

dsprag asks: michael do you have a favorite "chapelisim" and if so what is it

John: A quick aside. We are doing this chat at Michael's house, with his family sitting with us....

Michael: "Yappy but tender." and "Alrighty then."

MRGuest asks: John or David Where do the ideas for Mr. Chapel's pranks come from?

John/David: Years of grade school abuse at the hands of bullies like Michael. And here we are. (Laughs)

WB Host says: We have time for a few more questions tonight!

Friskyb asks: Michael, great skit on Letterman, who came up with that idea?

Michael: What skit on Letterman?

WB Host gets zonked again

MrChapel08 asks: Michael: You are shown doing a lot of punching on the promos. do you like to box?

Michael: No.

MarnWeeks asks: John & David, Is Robert Carradine a friend, or was it a pure casting decision? I loved seeing him recently on VU.

David: No, we had never met him.

WB Host says: And we'll close with a final question tonight for Michael...

MrChapel08 asks: Michael, loved the book. You had some tough times early on, do you feel those helped you or hurt you later in life?

Michael: That's deep. They helped me.

WB Host says: Well, once again I want to thank everybody for joining us tonight, and a special thanks to John, David and Michael for logging on with the help of Michael's son's computer!

WB Host says: Any final thoughts for us tonight guys?

John/DAvid/Michael: We're sorry we couldn't get to all the questions. Post them to the Board and we'll do our best to answer them. Keep writing. Keep Fighting.

Michael: Oh, God, my beard itches.

WB Host says: Thanks again guys - and to everybody remember the transcript will be posted tomorrow - and feel free to keep chatting tonight here in the chat room(ill open it up for ya)

WB Host says: That's a wrap folks!

Vengeance says: Thanks, We'd love to do it again sometime.
