SECRETS AND LIES: Annie cut off the phone call from the blackmailer when Ricardo showed up to ask about the theft of the ruby necklace. He wondered if they were receiving any unusual phone calls, since sometimes a thief will try to sell back expensive jewelry to the original owner. They claimed they hadn't, and Ricardo left. Later, Annie worried that they were "dead meat" if the secret came out. She had a fantasy that she and Caitlin hung on meat hooks while Cole and Gregory prepared to butcher them. The blackmailer called back and alluded to the fact that Annie had plenty of secrets! He asked for one million dollars. They were able to trace the number to the lobby payphone at the Sunset Beach Country Club. They rushed out.

CURSES AND LEGENDS: AJ admitted to Cole that he was thief in the past. Cole wanted to know everything about the so-called curse of the jewels, but Gregory interrupted. Gregory urged AJ to get his act together at the Liberty Corporation -- or he would be up for early retirement -- and left. AJ explained the legend of the powers of the jewels: immortality to those who own it, destruction to one's enemies through chanting, and a horrible demise for anyone who has lost the jewels. Cole was concerned about the fact that AJ, Caitlin, Francesca, Annie, Olivia and himself could be cursed due to their handling of the jewels. AJ mused that they were all in danger, but he didn't know to what extent. AJ explained that if they wanted to protect themselves, they had to restore all the jewels to the Rosario Madonna. Cole wanted to go see Francesca, but AJ thought he should deal with her. Cole was suspicious, but AJ urged him to have faith in his father. Later, AJ broke into Francesca's room, where someone put a gun to his back.
