WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 23, 1998

CUMMINGS HOUSE: When Meg arrived with the presents, she found her entire family and Casey sharing a champagne toast to Maria regaining her memory. She broke the news to them that Maria was pretending that she remembered so that she could give Ben and Meg the divorce that they want. Casey and Meg had a tender moment when he gave her a book on Venice for Christmas. A jealous Sara got rid of Casey and asked Meg if there was anything else wrong, so Meg confessed that she was afraid that she was going to lose Ben to Maria. She admitted that she was starting to believe everyone else when they said that what Ben and Maria felt for each other was the real thing. Sara asked Meg why she left Ben and Maria alone together, and Meg responded that Ben needed to make a choice between the two women. Sara had another fantasy in which Ben and Maria and Sara and Casey end up together. This time, Melinda arrived at the end to torment Sara.

ST. JOSEPH'S: The angel in the form of Gabi told Antonio that the Madonna wasn't lost, and that he should trust in himself to find her and then she disappeared. Gabi begged Antonio to tell her what was going on. Antonio left for the scrap yard, and Gabi followed him.

INN AT SUNSET BEACH: Hillary and Bernie held Cole between them, demanding the emerald, but when Cole escaped their grasp and insisted that they weren't real, they disappeared.

BEN'S HOUSE: Ben told Maria about what Christmas was like when they were married. He then gave her a present that he'd purchased for her the year she disappeared and never had the chance to give to her -- an ornament with the swing on the beach painted on it. Maria panicked because she wasn't feeling anything. She dropped the ornament and it broke. In an effort to restrain her from picking up the shards, Ben grabbed her hand. After an uncomfortable silence, Ben left for the Cummings house. While sweeping up the glass shards, Maria remembered Ben touching her hand.

SCRAP YARD: Everyone insisted that there wasn't anything inside the metal statue. One of the workers gave Antonio his Christmas bonus for the mission and then left. Gabi, who was standing outside, saw the worker take out a duffel bag with something in it. The worker took the Madonna out of the duffel bag and said that it had to help, because nothing else has. Gabi saw the Madonna and demanded it back. In the effort to get away from her, the worker knocked her over, rendering her unconscious. The foreman let Antonio look around for the Madonna. Antonio found Gabi unconscious on the floor. When she came to, he nearly told her that he loves her. Gabi told Antonio that the worker had the statue.

OLIVIA'S HOUSE: Brad freaked out when his hand started to age. Emily, Amy and Brad nearly give up hope, but Sean insisted that Cole would come through for them. Bette started to age. When the recriminations and predictions that they were all going to die began again, Bette vowed that no one would die, unless she did the killing.

ST. JOSEPH'S: Francesca and AJ started to age. While waiting for Antonio in the sanctuary, Caitlin arrived, saying that she had the feeling that something bad was going to happen to Cole. When he hugged her, her eyes turned red.

RICHARDS HOUSE: Just in case we didn't already know that the Caitlin in the church wasn't the real one, when Sean arrived looking for Cole, the real Caitlin told him that he wasn't there.
