WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 11, 1998

THE BEACH: Vanessa told Jimmy that she was feeling dizzy and sick to her stomach.

SURF CENTRAL: Ricardo demanded to know why Antonio lost his temper with Carmen. Antonio claimed that it was difficult to see her put so much faith in the cards, rather than in God. Gabi thanked Carmen for the necklace and told her that it's beautiful because it came from her. Carmen informed her sons that Maria moved in with Ben and Meg. Antonio and Ricardo decided to speak to Ben. Carmen told Antonio that she would continue to read the cards to find out what she can about the other man in Gabi's life.

Virginia told Michael that she had a pregnancy scare, but that it was a false alarm. Michael, who said that he didn't even know that she had been seeing anyone, asked Virginia about her ideal man. Just as she was about to confess that he's her dream man, Jimmy arrived to tell Michel that Vanessa was feeling ill.

BEN'S HOUSE: Hank, Joan and Sara brought breakfast to Ben and Meg and were surprised when Maria answered the door. Maria explained that Dr. Estrada wanted her to move in with Ben and Meg because it would be the fastest way to help her get better.

THE PIER: Meg reflected on the events that brought Maria to live with them. Ben assured Meg that they'll get through this. He told her that he's never met anyone like her before, but she insisted he has met someone like her: Maria. Meg listed all of the ways in which she and Maria are similar. Ben pledged that he will love Meg until his dying breath.

BEN'S HOUSE: Ben and Meg returned. Maria walked in on Hank asking Ben why he was putting Meg through this. Meg took her parents and sister aside to talk to them. Ben told Maria to go upstairs and he'd be by to talk to her later. Maria told Ben that she doesn't belong in his house, and Ricardo, who just walked in, declared that he agreed.

The two families began squabbling, and Meg asked her family to leave. Ben tried to get the Torreses to leave, also, but Ricardo refused to go. He decided, instead, to convince Maria to go home with Carmen, to be with people who love her. Maria responded that they keep saying that they love her, but they don't make any attempt to understand her. She asked them why they keep hurting her. Ben took the Torreses out, and Maria apologized to Meg, but it didn't help.

SEA BREEZE MOTEL: Caitlin was gone when Cole got back. Olivia arrived, and Cole accused her of lying to Caitlin and driving her away.

AN UNKNOWN PLACE: Caitlin saved her finger by suggesting that Hillary might scratch the diamonds with the knife. Hillary finally wrenched the ring from Caitlin's finger and chanted over it, which didn't work, so Hillary decided to hold Caitlin hostage. At first, Caitlin refused to give Cole's cell phone number to Hillary, but she gave in when Hillary threatened to kidnap Trey.

SEA BREEZE MOTEL: Cole got the phone call from Caitlin. At the last second, she told him to protect himself and Trey, rather than giving Hillary's ransom demands. Hillary took the phone and gave Cole an ultimatum.

THE BEACH: Gabi ran into Vanessa, who told her that she wasn't feeling well. Gabi told Vanessa that she needed to lie down out of the sun. Later, Michael asked Brad if he'd seen Vanessa, and Brad replied that he saw Vanessa and Gabi go into Surf Central. Before Michael could leave, they got a call about an emergency that they had to handle.

SURF CENTRAL: The first test was inconclusive, so Virginia did another one. Meanwhile, Gabi convinced Vanessa that she might be pregnant, and went out to buy a pregnancy test. When she returned, Vanessa told Gabi about Michael's sterility. Gabi insisted that people beat the odds all the time, and that she could be pregnant anyhow. Vanessa decided to take the pregnancy test. Vanessa and Virginia took their pregnancy tests simultaneously. They both came back positive.
