SURVIVORS MOURN MISSING LOVED ONES:
WHIRLYBIRD RESCUE: Sean and Emily use their lifeguard skills to rescue Ricardo and Gabi from down below. On the surface, Gabi performs life-saving CPR on Ricardo. He comes to and they share a joyous kiss, but soon discover that they're directly above the boiler room -- which is about to explode. Ricardo finds a blowtorch and burns an opening in the side of the ship to free other trapped pasengers. Successful, he signals Gregory and A.J., who are hovering overhead in a rescue chopper. Several survivors are lifted to safety, including Caitlin, who emotionally informs A.J. of Cole's death. Just then, the ship explodes with Ricardo and Antonio still on board. They survive, but come face-to-face with a shark -- just before they're hoisted into the helicopter. A.J. spots Cole in the water and dives in, but finds that Cole is not breathing. cole, too, is pulled up to safety. Ricardo and Caitlin fail to revive him, but A.J. does the job. Later, at the hospital, Cole confronts Francesca about dumping him for cash. Then he learns that Leo is his brother. The meeting of the Deschanel sons troubles A.J. Meanwhile, Gregory inquires about Francesca's past with Cole.
UNCHARTED DESERT ISLE: Sara and Casey cling to a piece of floating debris, but soon lose consciousness and slip into the sea. Later, they wash up on a deserted island, where they find a hut equipped with a radio. Right before the radio conks out, they manage to send off an S.O.S. Sara secretly hopes their rescue party will take its own sweet time.
PLEASE PASS THE PLASMA: Assuming that Olivia is Trey's mother, the doctor tells her she's the only one who can save the baby from bleeding to death. Leo is confused when he overhears Olivia agree to donate her blood. Annie reminds Olivia to keep her mouth shut, but Olivia believes Caitlin would want her to do whatever was necessary to save Trey's life. Caitlin arrives, professing to be Trey's mother. Olivia only lied to help Trey live, Annie explains to the doc. Caitlin, then, must be the one to donate plasma. Annie informs Caitlin that Trey's "anonymous" birth mother has agreed to make the donation -- but Olivia is poised to tell Caitlin she's Trey's momma. Just then, a tormented Caitlin confesses to Olivia that Trey is not her biological child. Olivia stays mum about her secret, mindful of her daughter's anguish. To Annie's delight, Olivia, posing as Caitlin, donates the plasma -- only to be discovered by a shocked Cole.
SOMETHING ABOUT MARIA: Ben, Meg and Joan celebrate Hank's recovery after Ben arrives with the desperately needed intracranial monitor. "Dana" finds Ben's keys and thinks they look familiar. Ben nearly runs into her on an elevator, but the doors close before Meg can make and introduction. Later, Ben and Ricardo exchange words about Maria's death. When Annie breaks the news about the Neptune disaster, Meg fears for her sister's life. Meg tells Joan about the sinking ship, but both agree that Hank can't handle such information right now. "Dana" is plagued by nightmares of drowning. She reacts strangely when she hears that Sara may have drowned, and asks Tim to take her to Meg.
