"On soaps, accents can define personality...On Guiding Light, Prince Richard is the model of a stiff-upper lipped monarch--even though the man who portrays him, Bradley Cole, hails from California. But getting a grip on that accent takes training, and lots of willpower. Says Cole, 'When I started on the show, I would work very hard on the scripts at home, pay a lot of attention to the accent, go over the exercises, and take every speech I had and listen to it on a tape recorder to make sure I had it just right.'"
