Nurses, yet another of NBC's Saturday night Miami-based sitcoms, ran on the network from 1991 to 1994. The show was set in the third floor nurses station of Community Medical Center, just around the corner from The Golden Girls and Empty Nest. The station was manned by five hard-working nurses: Annie, wife, mother, and head nurse; cynical Sandy; naive, ditzy Julie; immigrant Gina; and male nurse Greg. Others on the floor were grumpy Dr. Riskin, Paco the sees-all-tells-all orderly, and Hank, a financially strapped good-guy doctor who eventually began a relationship with Gina.

Season two brought about some cast changes, with Greg and Dr. Riskin gone. Newcomers were wacky orderly Luke and con artist Jack Trenton. Jack, who had been sentenced to perform community service at the hospital, tried every way possible to keep from having to do work. When the third and final season began, both Sandy and Luke were gone, and the hospital had been sold to a large company. Ambitious Casey MacAfee took over as administrator. Her new ideas for the hospital annoyed the nurses (especially Annie) to no end. Loni Anderson's "star power" didn't help the show's ratings and NBC pulled the plug after only three seasons.
