SUN's outrageous Bette plays SOM's word-association game and reveals her "alien" fantasy, what she eats when she's happy and how she chalks up karma points.

Ad-lib: "Always, always always!"

Barrel: "Taking risks, like getting into a barrel and going over Niagara Falls. I like adventure!"

Catfish: "Reminds me of Japan, where in the middle of a city there was a big shrine with beautiful ponds surrounded by a lovely garden and ravens the size of chickens. And in the ponds were catfish - huge ones!"

Devour: "That's what Bette does to her men - in a happy way, of course."

Entrepreneur: "I take ideas and run with them. That's what entrepreneurs do. As actresses, we're our own product. We must take it and run with it!"

Fetal: "No one escapes a tough time in life. When you hit bottom, you curl up, hug a pillow, a blanket, your dog, seek warmth in a snuggle and so forth. Those things comfort me, then it's right back to the fetal position."

Gadgets: I love them! I love to go to hardware stores and kitchen stores that have all those little tools and such."

Helium: "Sucking up helium is such silly fun - that high squeaky voice! I remember once when I was at Tavern on the Green in New York's Central Park with Susan Lucci (Erica, AMC), Mark LaMura (ex-Mark, AMC), Debbi Morgan (Ellen, PC; ex-Angie, AMC) and some others. There was helium, and we all sounded like Mickey Mouse!"

Indonesian: "Exotic, romantic and mysterious - and I want to go! It reminds me of the King and I."

Jelly bean: "A candy you eat when you're happy. I love the red cinnamon and black licorice ones."

Knowledge: "The most extraordinary gift. To have curiosity about life brings knowledge and constant learning. That's so exciting."

Limelight: "The dessert of hard work."

Menagerie: "A place stuffed with animals - or people. To me it means eclecticism or exciting variety. I love being around lots of different things."

Nexus: "It used to be a club on All My Children. I think one of Erica Kane's many men was involved in it."

Outfox: "Something I don't do. I'm pretty up-front about things, and that can be bad because it makes one too vulnerable sometimes."

Preserve: "Please. My face... from falling down!"

Quit: "While you're ahead, always."

Reluctance: "That's fear-based. It keeps us from doing something that may be good for us. Bette helps me in that regard. When I'm suddenly reluctant to do something, I think about what Bette would do."

Service: "Essential to having a happy life. You have to be of service in some way, and it doesn't have to be huge. A moment of kindness toward your friend, neighbor, a stranger, your dog. It chalks up those karma points!"

Tension: "This business gives you plenty of it! But even as a child I was drawn to this; I had no choice but to become an actress. When you have a passion for something, you deal with the tension, you learn to surrender."

Unforgettable: (singing the song lyrics) "It's music. It's one of my favorites."

Vocal: "Me? No, no. I'm very shy, ha!"

Waterlogged: "California was too wet this season. It can rain in the wee hours of the morning, but by noon I want the sun out!"

Xenophobia: No fear of strangers here! I'd love to meet an alien and check out his spaceship, maybe go for a ride."

Yield: "You have to know when it's time to yield to the bigger picture. By doing so, you just open the door for new things to come in."

Zither: "Reminds me of Broadway producer David Merrick. There had been a union rule that if you use any music at all in a play - even if it's only a recording and eve if it just starts or ends the play - you had to hire a minimum number of live musicians. It annoyed him so much. He hired 12 zither players, who had to be there every night and sit through the whole performance even though they didn't play a note. I think the union has since changed the rules."
