RIO BRAVO
Ricky Nelson, John Wayne, Dean Martin

1959
Co-Stars; Angie Dickinson, Walter Brennan, Ward Bond,
John Russell, Claude Akins, Bob Steele, and Harry
Carey Jr.

Sheriff John T. Chance (John Wayne), of the border town Rio Bravo, arrests Joe Burdette (Claude Akins) for shooting an unarmed man. Joe's older brother Nathan, played by John
Russell is the the richest rancher on the border and has his men bottle up the town so that Chance can't take Joe to the U.S. Marshall's Office.

Ricky Nelson plays "Colorado," he's riding guard for a wagon headed up by Pat Wheeler (Ward Bond). Dean Martin is Dude, an ex-deputy sheriff who fell in love with the wrong woman then became the town drunk. Walter Brennan plays Stumpy, the current deputy and friend of Sheriff Chance. They are the only two the Burdette's have to worry about, at least for now.

Angie Dickinson plays Feathers who came to town on the stage. She rents a room at the hotel to take a bath but winds up staying for awhile.

This is one of his better movies. It has just the right amount of western action, comedy and story line to keep even the non-western lover interested. Also about half way through the movie you'll hear a duet by Ricky Nelson and Dean Martin.
