| This is the story of Cantrell's Raiders and the Civil War. Walter Pidgeon plays Will Cantrell, a school teacher who has always dreamed of power. Cantrell tried for the office of Federal Marshall, but lost to a cowboy named Bob Seton(John Wayne). Cantrell's hate grows when he sees Seton making advances to Mary McCloud (Claire Trevor) whom he's in love with. Mary's brother Fletch is played by Roy Rogers. When Fletch is tried for murder at Seton's insistence, Cantrell sees his chance to gain Mary's regard by threaten- ing members of the jury. When Cantrell forms his raiders, Fletch, gratful to him for saving his life, is amoung the first to join. |
