Ned: You know, I barely know Simon Prentiss, but we all are on
a first-name basis with the flower delivery guy. Would you like
me to send these flowers back?
V: I don't know.
Ned: Would you like me to make Simon stop sending them
to you?
V: I won't tell him where I live. You'd think that would be a
hint.
Ned: Hey, I'm dropping off this contract for grandfather to sign,
and then I'm going back to the gatehouse to start working on two
new songs. This is the part where you get all bubbly.
V: They set me up.
Ned: "They" would be?
V: Jax and Chloe invite me over to Jax's apartment for a little
intimate dinner
for three, and guess who's there.
Ned: That's the worst.
V: No, it isn't.
Chloe: We must be on the same wavelength. Your dress for the Nurses'
Ball just got here. I had it sent overnight from Milan.
V: This is the worst.
Ned: You and Simon, Nurses' Ball? And you and Jax set this up?
V: I can't do this. I won't.
Chloe: But you promised.
V: Ok, that whole negotiation was ridiculous.
Ned: Why do I know that Jax is behind all this?
V: He tricked me. It was either Cafe Matisse or the Nurses' ball,
and I don't know how it happened, but this is why I'm here. I
am not going to the nurses' ball with Simon Prentiss or anybody
else, and that's final.
Chloe: You don't even want to look at the dress?
V: No. I'm not in the least bit curious.
Chloe: It's a brand-new design. Hasn't even hit the runway yet.
V: Well, then maybe a model should wear it.
Chloe: I don't design for models. I design for real people. You'd
be doing me a favor.
Ned: You know, I know this is really none of my business, but
isn't this kind of a hard sell?
V: Thank you.
Chloe: You and Simon connected over dinner, didn't you?
V: He proposed to me.
Chloe: Before that.
V: Ok, discussing the inherent value of a semicolon doesn't count.
Ned: Don't tell me. I don't even want to know.
Chloe: You're not helping.
Ned: V's obviously too good for this guy.
V: Well, I never said that. He's smart. He's funny. He's very
persistent.
Ned: Like you.
Chloe: It's one night, V. Jax and I will be with you the whole
time. I am so proud of that dress. It would mean so much to me
if you would wear it.
V: Can you help me out a little?
Ned: Simon's lucky you'd even consider any of this. But it's your
call, V.
Chloe: If it doesn't work out, I will make Simon stop pushing.
V: Oh, you mean like you made him stop pushing the other night?
Chloe: We've been friends for a long time. If I tell him it's
hopeless, he will believe me. Just take some time and think about
it.
Take the dress home, put it on. If you hate the idea, I will deal
with Simon. I will make him stop bothering you. If you don't,
then we'll go shoe shopping. Ultimately it's your decision. I
just want you to consider it.
V: Ok. But I'm not making any promises.
Chloe: By the way, if the dress doesn't work, just say so. No
hard feelings.
V: On one condition -- you make sure Ned practices.
