V. is out on the balcony. Jax goes out there. Stands behind her. They look at each other - (They look so cute together).
Later - Jax is inside hearing news report about Brenda and Sonny's upcoming wedding.
Later he's out on the balcony again and has another awful Brenda memory.
V. comes out. V: You know what the problem is with California? There are no seasons. It's always the same.
J: You've been here, what? Two days?
V: I know my geography. I watch the Weather Channel. Parts of Australia are like that too.
J: There are seasons. Just more subtle. You don't mark time by the when the leaves change. You don't say, I remember that summer when it rained so hard. You say, I remember that day in May, when everything changed for me.
Jax hands V. a glass of champagne. J: Don't you want to know why we're celebrating? You know if it hadn't of been for your over-the-top sense of duty, you'd probably be at Brenda's wedding right now. I know you got an invitation. (V. smiles sympathetically)
J: Well, maybe I just didn't want you to miss out on the Champagne. Because that all you're missing out on, believe me, unless of course, you're into gangster fashion shows. Oh well, here's to life (they clink the glasses together)
J: Better than you'd get there. Sonny has no taste. He just likes things that cost too much.
V: This must be a really hard day for you.
J: What?
V: Obviously, it's on your mind.
J: Yeah, well, it's not like anyone will let me forget it. "Their dark, sensual faces." That's what the last commentator called them. And my mother keeps calling me. Whoops, sorry, dialed you by mistake. By the way, how are you? And you're tiptoeing around here like your cat is having bypass surgery. Cheer up, OK.
V: I'm trying to be sensitive.
J: Don't. Just say whatever you want, OK?
V: You miss her.
J: Brenda was a kick, OK. She was a gamble. You know she's not very smart for someone as bright as she is (are we talking about the same person here?) And today she's marrying a man that will make her miserable. It's not that I don't wish them happiness, I do. Oh, well there's a lot more I could say, but I think that pretty much sums it up.
V. is staring (or gazing) up at Jax.
J: Oh Come on, Venus, spit it out! (V. laughs)
V: Well, I just don't know what's so sensual
about dark.
Jax laughs. J: Yea.
