The Medicine Chest ... for health and safety
On various shelves of the Medicine Chest you'll find:
Safety also means being aware of the people around you, so take a look at Most Wanted, which gives information on wanted fugitives and unsolved crimes for the U.S. and beyond.
Also on this shelf is Unsolved Mysteries which after 9 stellar seasons and over 270 solves (including 152 fugitive captures!), NBC has
decided not to renew for next season. However, as we all know, there are many mysteries and crimes yet to be solved and we'd like to keep on solving them.

The Living Room ... is where we curl up in front of the fire place
When we can't get out to Texas Stadium to root for the Dallas Cowboys
we look here, turn on the TV, and
listen to KVIL radio. We also love the Texas Rangers baseball team which we listen to on NewsRadio 1080 KRLD, Dallas Stars and Fort Worth Fire hockey teams, Dallas Burn soccer team, Dallas Mavericks basketball team, and we'll even link the New York Yankees baseball team in honor of my brothers Billy & Paul.

The Music Room ... close your eyes and enjoy the sounds surrounding you
The sounds of one of my all-time favorite musical, Phantom of the Opera (have seen it 4 times), can be heard coming from the Music Room.
Enjoyed Hair so much way back when, that I saw it twice on Broadway.
However, you don't have to go to NYC to see Broadway shows ... the Music Hall in Dallas brings great musicals here each summer and the '01 season brings:
- May 29-June 10, 2001. THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS starring Ann-Margret as Miss Mona, hostess of the notorious south Texas Chicken Ranch. This brand-new production features new music written especially for Ann-Margret.
- June 12-June 24, 2001. THE CIVIL WAR, THE BROADWAY MUSICAL starring Larry Gatlin. A sweeping new musical of love and life inspired by the passion and turmoil of the men and women who defined a nation.
- June 26-July 8, 2001. "LES MISERABLES" - Randal Keith heads the company as the fugitive, Jean Valjean. "Les Miserables" is currently in its 16th year in London and its 15th year on Broadway, having won over 50 major awards internationally, including the 1987 Tony Award for Best Musical. "Les Miserables" is an epic saga that sweeps through three turbulent decades of 19th century France. It is also the story of one man, a fugitive, and his lifelong struggle to evade capture.
- July 10-July 22, 2001. "CINDERELLA," starring 3-time Tony-award winner Eartha Kitt as the Fairy Godmother and Jamie-Lynn Sigler (The Sopranos) as Cinderella. The only musical written by Rodgers & Hammerstein for television, "Cinderella" was first shown on CBS in 1957, starring Julie Andrews, re-made with Lesley Ann Warren in 1965, and most recently seen with Brandy and Whitney Houston in 1997 on "The Wonderful World of Disney."
- August 7-August 19, 2001. "KISS ME, KATE," with music and lyrics by Cole Porter, the musical opened to rave reviews in November, 1999, receiving a steady stream of awards including 5 Tony Awards and 4 Outer Critics Circle Awards. Rex Smith and Rachel York, who most recently co-starred in "The Scarlet Pimpernel" on Broadway, will play the feisty, funny couple (Fred Graham and Lili Vanessi) in the First National Tour of "Kiss Me, Kate."
- August 21-September 2, 2001. "SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER," the Broadway musical inspired by Robert Stigwood's phenomenally successful 1977 film, features songs from the film soundtrack by the Bee Gees. The songs, which launched a worldwide disco-dancing craze, include "Stayin' Alive" and "Night Fever." The Bee Gees also created two new songs for the musical stage production.
- September 25-October 20, 2001. "AIDA" - Elton John (music) and Tim Rice (lyrics) collaborated on the marvelous score for "Aida." On Broadway, Disney's "Aida" is still one of the most hard-to-get tickets, and the national touring company promises to be just as dazzling. "Aida" will also be the State Fair of Texas musical.
During the 2000 Season we saw:
- May 30-June 11 Fosse 1999 Tony Award for Best Musical ... just ok - dancing good but would have preferred livelier numbers
- June 13-25 Sound of Music ...
- June 27-July 9 Parade
- July 11-23 Riverdance ...
- July 25-Aug 6 Annie Get Your Gun 1999 Best Musical Revival
- Aug 8-20 Barry Manilow's Copacabana
- Sept 20-Oct 21 During the State Fair Phantom of the Opera ...
During the 1999 Season we saw:

- June 2-14 Rodgers and hammerstein's Oklahoma ...
- June 16-28 Remember when alll you wanted to be was Big ...
- June 30-July 12 Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan
- July 14-26 Winner of four 1996 Tony awards Bring in 'Da Noise Bring in 'Da Funk ... - boring!
- July 29-Aug 16 Riverdance is a spectacular fusion of song and dance celebrating Ireland and the world beyond ...
- Sept 1-Oct 10 during the State Fair of TX, Showboat ...
During the 1997 Season we saw:
- June 10-22 The 1996 Best Musical Grammy Winner Smokey Joe's Cafe ... 2 hours of singing - Alltrinna Grayson can really belt a song out!
- June 24-July 6 The Music Man ... - Barry Williams (Greg of Brady Bunch fame) & Kathryn Crosby (Mrs. Paroo) were o.k., Victoria Mallory (Marion Paroo) did have a voice, but on the whole the production was boring (I wasn't the only one falling asleep), not at all peppy! And it ended as if someone looked at their watch and said "time to go home"!
- July 8-20 Hayley Mills in Rodgers & Hammerstein's The King & I ... - Had to work, but Heather loved it!
- July 22-Aug 2 Les Miserables ... - like day & night; the new version is far better than the old.
- Aug 12-24 Cirque Ingenieux ... confused as to how to rate, as cannot be compared to musicals. This is very different. 1 person sings, some dance, but mostly consists of some very talented performers which includes gymnasts, aerialists, illusionists and contortionists.
- Sept 4-Oct 12 during the State Fair of TX, Disney's Beauty and the Beast ... Delightful! Cast can sing and Kim Huber (Belle) has a wonderful voice.
During the 1996 Season we saw:
- Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel ... we didn't enjoy - too dark a theme
- Jerry Lewis in Damn Yankees ... and he was excellent
- U.S. premiere tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Music of the Night ... music fine, but wished they had sets/costumes
- Jerome Robbins' West Side Story ... a great production as usual
- How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying ... Ralph Macheo did an outstanding job
- During the Texas State Fair was Miss Saigon ... great performances - Will Chase (plays Chris) has a wonderful voice
You might check the Lyrics Archive for some of your favorite tunes.
Growing up in the '60s, there was always someone who would pull out their guitar and we'd start singing Folk Songs. This is a great site to look up those old tunes and it's searchable.
When we need tickets to any event Ticketmaster may have them (a searchable site by event or state).
