Sorry if you were expecting to see my photo but I am usually behind the camera rather than in front of it and all the pictures on these pages are ones I have taken. I've got passport-style photos but would you want to include your's on your home page? Me neither!
I have always thought that if I had enough money I would like to set up as a travel agent but as that is not likely to happen now that I am in my middle sixties, I am using the free pages provided by GeoCities/Yahoo to share some of my favourite places with other people.
From 1960 to 1999 when I decided to give up work, I was what used to be known as a civil servant, although my passport gave my occupation as "Government Service". I was lucky enough to get 6 weeks leave a year which allowed a reasonable amount of time for travel.
I used to work in an office with a great view of the River Thames (when I got time to look at it!) just opposite the Tate Gallery where you can see excellent art exhibitions.
I used to be able to just about see Big
Ben from the window for a time check and down the road is the
Museum of Garden History which
has a fascinating web site that is well worth a visit if you are interested in
gardening.
I commuted about 13 miles daily to London (from a village that has been absorbed into Greater London). I can remember when we still had steam engines on the railway line back in the 1960s when I was a computer programmer/systems analyst working on what were then large mainframe machines. Computers have changed out of all recognition since then but it still took me about an hour to get to work - and that was on a good day! Now time is less important and I have a so-called "Freedom Pass" that lets me travel free on all public transport in Greater London including trains, busses and trams (like the new ones we have in Croydon).
When I gave up work, I took up golf and and joined the Falconwood Ladies Golf Club which is based at a local public course.
Some years ago I took various courses with the Open University in my spare time and got a BA (Hons) degree. When I had completed it I treated myself to a Spectrum PC which had all of 48k memory! Although the graphics were very basic, many of the games were outstanding. Since then I have had several PCS with increasing amounts of memory and bigger and bigger hard disks but now I mainly use a Sony VAIO laptop which I bought a couple of years ago so that I could work in the warm by the fire in the winter!

Garfield Games for daily word games, card games, board
games etc with results tables and ratings.
Just recently I came across the Solitaire Craving site and am hooked on the daily puzzles and trying to improve my rating.
