Very nice, very clean, very friendly. Close to the PX. We had a good

Directions: From west exit I-10 N at Alvernon Way (Exit 265). Follow road approx. 1.9 miles onto
Golf Links Rd. Right on Craycroft Rd. Go thru main gate. Left on Quijota Blvd to FamCamp office
on right side of street (across street from the camp site).
From east exit I-10at Exit 270 (Kolb Rd) and follow Kolb Rd approx 4 - 5 miles to Escalante
(3rd or 4th traffic light), turn left to Wilmot Rd.. Turn left at Wilmot and enter base using
Wilmot Gate (Open 6 AM to 6 PM M-F and DOD Base Pass required). You will be able to
see the Wilmot Gate and the Fam-Camp from the junction of Escalante and Wilmot.

New bathhouse, self-service laundry, and lounge area.
14 day limit when camp is full. Must rotate out for 2 days before returning.
E-mail connection at Fam-Camp Office.
Comments: FamCamp office hours 0800 to 1800. After 1800 choose
available site from board outside of office. Some backin pads, most are
pull throughs. Camp office personel are very helpful and pleasant to work
with. Now there is a convenient email hookup at the FamCamp office.

Recreation Area for Luke Air Force Base (Glendale, AZ), 138 miles to the
southwest.
Directions: Directions after I-17 (Exit 337) are confusing. Add: From stop
sign at top of exit ramp, head west and stay in right lane. At next stop
sign go straight ahead. There's a small, wooden sign on the right that
says, "Fort Tuthill." Continue straight for about 500 yards and take first
left (look for sign). Check-in at Lodge on right (park in dirt lot across the
street just before reaching lodge).

Reservations: Required for campground from Mar-Sep. May be made
with credit card up to 6 months in advance for retirees. Twelve months in
advance for active duty.

Number of RV sites available: 21 gravel, mostly back-ins. W/E (15/20
amp plug required); wooden picnic table at each site and some long water
and electric runs (more than 25 feet). Modern rest rooms with showers
are across from lodge, key required ($7 refundable deposit). Telephone
at lodge.
Campground dirt road is badly rutted with drainage grooves. One deep well
dump site. Modern laundromat across from lodge. Basketball, volleyball
and tennis courts; softball field. NO gas station, BX or Commissary. Facility
is staffed only by civilians. Outdoor equipment rental shop has seasonal
items, e.g. canoes, inner tubes, bikes, skis, snowboards, etc. In winter,
downhill skiing 20 miles away. Outdoor Adventure program includes local
bus tours; float, rafting and backpacking trips; mountain biking and cave
spelunking.

Directions: From I-8, take Exit 115 and follow signs to AZ-85 South and Ajo.
After gate check-in, take first right turn (sign to Fam Camp) and you'll
be on Fourth St. Go past housing area and you'll see campground on the
right. Enter campground at Centipede St. and pick an unused site.
Check-in with site number at Desert Sands Inn lodging office (Bldg 4300)
at Fourth and "I" streets, diagonally across from campground. From
November through March check in with host/hostess in campground.

Individual restrooms, free washers/dryers, ice machines
and exercise machines are in Building 4300 (Lodging). Basketball and
tennis courts are at corner of Fourth and "I" streets across from
campground. There are NO SHOWERS available. NO gas station, BX or
Commissary. Facility is now staffed only by civilians. Lodging office
has good supply of USAF Frequent Camper packets.
Number of RV sites available: 42 coarse sand, pull throughs; W/S/E(30
amp)/CATV; concrete patios and coated steel picnic tables. Campground
has no restrooms and only one phone at the entrance.

From Members: Yuma Proving Grounds has a new one called "Desert Breeze"
R.V. Travel Camp. Located on the main post behind the service station. You
can see it just after you go thru the unmaned gate. 42 spaces, all level,
all underground sewer, electrical and water, 6x12 concrete pads. Rates
are $10.00/per day, $50.00/per week and $180.00/per month. That
includes water, sewer, electricity and basic cable. The host will live
in a mobile home on the grounds. It opened 30 Jan and was full that day.
They have a small exchange and commissary.
