Admiral Baker Road hill you must turn right (do not go straight ahead to
the old golf course campground). Go into the large parking lot on the

It's in a brown wooden building with blue sign, about 100 yards north.

I was there six nights (didn't qualify for the weekly rate) and it cost $17.00 a night. A great deal as the park is only a mile and a half from Jack Murphy Stadium (QualCom) where we took in a Packers/Chargers game.

Member Input: In the past few months the Campground at the Marine Base has come under the control of Special Services instead of Housing. Now active duty military as well as retired military are permitted to use the campground. It has approximately 46 spaces. The spaces are very wide and at least 70' long. They are all back in but the streets are wide permitting easy backing. Water sewer and 30 amp electric is included in the price of 200.00 per month and I think 15.00 per day. It is a great park and is close to everything. This park is not well known but when the word gets out it will fill up fast. The phone number is 760 368 6853 and they take reservations. Lemoore NAS (CA24N)

Updated: Thursday, August 17, 2000
Street Atlas 7 Map (Zipped)

Directions: Located on Hwy 198 between 99 & I-5, 6 mi. west of Lemoore.
From 99, turn off on 198 and keep going through the town of Lemoore until you see
the base on the right. From I5 coming from the north, it is 20 miles from the turnoff on 198.
From the south, you can turn off at hwy 41 to 198, where you will go west. We used the Avenal
Cut, which is confusing if you don’t know the area—there is a sign there saying NAS Lemoore
exit. You must turn left at the exit end, cross the freeway, go past the freeway entrance for
southbound I5, and turn left several yards ahead. Follow that road back across the freeway, a 2
lane through the agricultural area, for about 17 miles. There will be a sign for 198, where you
will go west for about a mile to the main gate.

Telephone: 559-997-8983
Season: All year
Reservations: Accepted with Credit Card number

Type of site Spaces Hook-ups Daily Weekly Monthly
Paved 12 W/S/E/ $13.00 $77.00 $300.00

Member Input: Located on Hancock Ave near the batting cages, driving range & Area 51 swimming pool. The park has 12 sites with full hookups incl; elec / water / sewage, restrooms and showers. The sites are paved, with gravel between the sites. Each has a picnic table and barbecue.
NOTE: Retired military & DoD may reserve space 5 wks in advance
Commissary is reached by taking Hancock to Franklin and turning left, proceeding on to left fork which is at the end; take it & turn left; commissary is a short distance on left. It can also be reached at time of entering main gate on 198. To go before arrival at Fam Camp, after entering the gate, take the first left turn (not the immediate first past the guard shack—it isn’t always feasible) and follow the street as it curves around until you reach the retail complex, where you’ll see a large parking lot. The Commissary, NEX & other stores, such as optical shop and Food Court, are located in that area adjacent to the commissary. Entrances to the parking lot are on both sides of it. On the side toward Franklin, there is a drive-through fast food.
The gas station and propane is across the street from the Fam Camp. Area 51 (for over 21ers) and Rec Centers are in sight of the camp. The base pool is also by the parking lot you enter to reach the camp. On the other side of the gas station are the bowling alley and a snack bar/ computer center, post office, and credit union, and Enterprise Car Rental. Across Franklin on Hancock are the gym, MWR/ Outdoor Rec., car wash, storage for RV’s & boats area. West on Franklin past the new Hospital, just before you enter the housing area, a right turn will take you to the Jet Mart and Pizza shop.
The back gate is available only to housing residents with a Q sticker.
One thing that has been annoying—MWR has been lax about putting up a reserved card on their board at the entrance. Once you are there, you take a card and your payment over to MWR, or put a check in the pickup box if you come in after hours when the office is closed. As the camp hasn’t been full so far when we were there, it hasn’t been a problem of a drive-in getting a spot that should have been marked reserved, but it could be in the future. They take your credit card # when you call in a reservation, but don’t charge to it until you arrive. I don’t know what they do when you don’t show—perhaps just drop your reservation, or perhaps charge for one day.
Dave Brown
September 21, 1999

Jerry & I have recently used the Famcamp at NAS Lemoore in central California while helping our daughter & son-in-law pack out for a new duty station. The restrooms and showers building was in construction and should be finished soon. Alas, we just got the noise and the dirt before our trip ended. We had a chance to see the new Navy Inn, which is located adjacent to the old one and a walk across the field from the Famcamp. It's sure nicer than anything we had available during our active duty years--(years and years ago!). The original Inn is still in use also. Other construction is presently going on, much to our inconvenience while there. The main street to enter the old housing where our kids lived was all torn up, and the detours sucked up a lot of our expensive gas! If you like hot weather, it's a good place to stop and stock up. If not, wait until summer is over.
Phyllis and Jerry Noe
July 26, 2000

I just found a flyer for the NAS Lemoore FamCamp that has been lost (lost in plain sight!) since I got home from there. As in Dave Brown's info from his stop there in '99, it has the name as being QOL RV Park (standing for Quality of Life). I changed it to LAO-820 because that's what the sign said that they put up to tell about the construction going on for the restrooms--so maybe you want to change it back to the QOL, I don't know what LAO stands for. Also I said Outdoor Recreation takes the reservations. It is called Outdoor Adventure Center. The flyer says there will eventually be laundry facilities, phone, and cable television hookups. Also included were 2 more categories for reservations: local active duty may reserve a site 10 weeks in advance, non-local active duty may reserve 7 weeks in advance.
