This was my very first convergence. Not my 1st visit to the windy city however. I had a great time and felt just like a kid in a candy store. So many handsome chubby guys at this event.
Bob and I travelled by car to the Girth and Mirth event and then drove out to Denver, CO before returning home to Toronto. Wow what a trip. Some of the cities we visited on the way there were Des Moines, IO, Omaha and North Platte, NE, and Denver, CO. We spent the weekend in Denver and travelled through Estes Park into the Rocky Mountains. On the return trip we visited Dodge City, Wichita, and Kansas City, KS. We arrived in town just in time to get tickets to see the Blue Jays play and beat the Kansas City Royals. From there to St. Louis, MO. This included a stop at several wineries near St. Louis to stock up on our supply. Then on to Terre Haute, and stopping in Indianapolis to visit the speedway before heading to Fort Wayne IA. On to Toledo, OH, then Detroit, MI before crossing the border back into Canada and on to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Whew.
Long trip but well worth the time and adventure. Guess what we agreed to do a similar driving trip leading up to convergence in Boston in 1991. Check the link for that year to learn more.
