[Above] Captain Jarvis with an example of one of his hobbies prior to his 90th birthday. This ship model was NOT built from a kit. Captain Jarvis builds his model's the same way tall ships were built. He fashions a cradle, lays the keel, builds and erects the frames and planks the hull. He lays the teak deck, builds the cabins, crafts the masts and yards. He builds tiny operable blocks and rigs the ship. His models' hulls are not smooth and fair like solid wood block - or plastic - models built from kits. His models look like their antecedents, "the tall ships that carried lumber to ports around the world" that Captain Jarvis sailed in his youth.
[Below] Captain Jarvis with the computer his kids gave him for his 90th birthday. He now is an active net surfer. He subscribes to several maritime lists and communicates with mariners of yesterday, today and tomorrow. Captain Jarvis is currently changing ISP's, when he notifies me of his new one, I'll put an email link on here to him. The inlaid wood cuts on the wall are another example of Captain Jarvis' wood working talents.
