DOLE PLANTATION and MAZE

Dole Store

By the time we reached the Dole Plantation Store, in the middle of the island, we were ready for a tasty snack. They have the best pineapple flavored Dole Whip in this store which sells "all things pineapple". We browsed, bought souvenirs, ate our whips and then tried to decide if we wanted to tackle The World's Largest Maze right out the back door.

Darrell and I decided to be the ultimate tourists and go into this maze. It was fun, but we never found the six secret stations hidden in the maze with it's 1.7 miles of winding pathways and hidden corners. There are nice plants and flowers to look at while bumbling around inside but, after about 20 minutes, we decided to cut thru the bushes and get back to the store.

There are pretty grounds behind the store with a great view of the plantation stretching far behind us. We fed the gold fish in the pond and were amused by their eagerness. Actually, it was more of a frenzy as you can see in this picture. They flopped all over each other to get to the food and made the funniest noise, like the beating of bird wings, as they crashed against each other. I hope they didn't hurt themselves just for the food.
