ELLIS GETS NEW JOB

If you haven't heard about it yet, Ellis has a new job - an online job. Ellis is the Israeli Culture guide for a new online company called The Mining Company. Working under the slogan "Take Back The Net", the Mining Company employs hundreds of guides, each one responsible for a different field. As Israeli Culture guide, Ellis must each week present visitors reviews and links to the best Israeli cultural sites online. Each week there is also a feature article, highlighting a different aspect of Israeli Culture.

Feel free to visit the site. Israeli Culture is now online.

EREZ GETS NEW ROOM

Erez moved into his new room today. As the wave of spring projects in the Shuman household continues, Erez moved out of the attic (where he was really too tall to stand up) and down into the front room, off the kitchen. Erez is quite pleased with the new arrangement - his room includes his bed, dresser, the desk and ample place for his CD Player and disc collection.

The Shuman household is still in a bit of disarray, after this move took place. The computer is temporarily in the living room, as the attic must be cleaned up a bit before it becomes an office. Many things are strewn over the living room floor as the moving process continues. And this, just a short time after the living room and kitchen were repainted by Ellis and Merav.

CRASH! ON JODIE AND ELLIS'S HEADS

Jodie and Ellis were sound asleep on the night of May 31st, when the sky came tumbling down. It was five a.m., and they had only come home at one a.m. from a rare night out (details further down), when the glass-encased embroidered Chinese silk hung over their bed fell off the walls, and onto their heads.

The frame hit Ellis on the head (leaving a small, painful bump), but that was the least of their worries. The glass shattered, and miraculously the big chunks of glass all fell behind the bed. Even so, there were tiny pieces of glass all over the pillows, and Jodie had to take a shower to get the glass out of her hair. We were extremely lucky - no cuts and scrapes from this unexpected awakening.

How did this happen? Apparently the wood in the frame of the hanging was old, and the metal wire in one side just gave out, which caused it to fall at an angle, hitting Ellis first.

The night out was at an area get-together at Kibbutz Tzora. There were about fifteen people who went from Neve Ilan, and it was free, so why not? The woman and the group who performed were called the Olive Leaves, and they were very similar to "Breira Hativit". The men played a cello, violin, lute and drums - the woman sang. Okay - her voice was good, but the songs she sang all sounded the same. Good music for a belly dancer, but each song was so similar to the others. The songs were either in Hebrew or in Arabic, but who could tell the difference? The members of the group were partially Israeli, and partially Arab, but for Ellis - if you hear one song like this, you've heard them all. So, even though the music was very loud, Ellis promptly astounded Jodie and the others gathered in the Tzora Dining Room by falling asleep - and sleeping through the entire performance. When there was a break for food Ellis quickly woke up - salted rolls and pita bread with sesame-covered white cheese and oil, and sweet middle-eastern pastries. But then Ellis and Jodie learned that the next half of the show was a sing-a-long, and since it was already 12:30 am, most of the Neve Ilan group commadeered the bus and headed home.

Only to be awoken with a crash a short four hours later.
